@@blessingatai Hello Blessing, customers have mentioned that single ingredient natural butters and oils, especially shea butter, can be helpful for many skin types and common skin irritations. However if you are not sure about an ingredient, it’s best to do a patch test to be certain. If you have further questions, please check with your pediatrician.
Customers that have done this mention that they've chosen a ratio that is in the middle of the hardness level of the butters, from very hard (cocoa) to very soft (shea)
Thank you so much! I’m a newbie so I wanna make sure I got it. If you wanted to make 100 oz jar. Ingredients will include mango and Shea, would I do 80 oz Shea, 20 mango oz, 30% oil, 1 % fragrance? And then from there I can make 10, 10oz smaller jars? We appreciate your knowledge
Great question! When developing a formula for body butter, it's best to reach out to a qualified formulator to finalize your recipe measurements. We do have a blog post to go along with this video that includes basic ratios of butters to oils that customers have found helpful when whipping their butters with carrier oils: bettersheabutter.com/body-butter-formulating-basics-mango-shea-and-cocoa-butters-vs-oil-percentages/ I hope this helps!
@@tbnewhomes I apologize, we aren't able to provide measurements for custom formulations, but here is a recipe with some similar ratios that might help: bettersheabutter.com/night-moisture-cream-diy-easy-night-cream-recipe-with-blue-tansy-essential-oil/
Hi Monica, we found some on Amazon! Something like these: www.amazon.com/Encheng-Airtight-Kitchen-Storage-Containers/dp/B07KRR4HW4/ref=sr_1_8?crid=O7MKAXAM359C&keywords=hermetic+jars&qid=1678799919&sprefix=hermetic+jars%2Caps%2C110&sr=8-8
It depends on how much naturally hard (cocoa, kokum) vs naturally softer (shea, mango) butters you are going to use. If you are using equal parts of each, most customers mixing butters prefer to go with a butter/oil ratio somewhere in the middle, such as the 60% butter to 40% oil ratio used for mango. I hope this helps!
Hi Soozie, you can just add the oz of butters used and oz of oils used to come up with a total yield. You can use any size containers, just divide your total oz by number of containers you'd like to make.
My hands are really dry and need something thicker in the cream so it doesn’t melt into oil right away on my hands. Can I add beeswax to my butter recipe and if so, what’s the beeswax ratio? I browsed your channel and couldn’t find one with beeswax - I found a lip balm video made with beeswax, would that be suitable for a hand cream recipe too?
Hi V, yes I think a wax is a great addition to a hand cream to create a barrier to protect your skin. Beeswax especially is great at drawing moisture into your skin. When I have added beeswax to existing butter recipes, I just added 1-2 oz and didn't whip the butter to create sort of a soft balm/butter hybrid that is easy to scoop.
No, not if there isn't any water or water-based product in your customized recipe. The shelf life for a mix of just butters, oils, and waxes is around 6 months if stored away from excessive heat and moisture.
thank you so much for this informative video!!
Your channel is extraordinary. It’s my favorite so far great job❤
Thank you so much for the kind words, April! We're so glad you're enjoying the videos ☺
Best Shea butter vid yet Everything is precise short and to the point...Please keep doing diy vids ..5 thumbs 👆
In total agreement!!!!

thank you best video i have seen so far on the subject
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it.
What are the oils and butters to avoid for someone with nuts allergies?
Can you combine Shea butter and jojoba oil
@@blessingatai yes, that’s a very popular combination!

Are these body butters okay good to use on kids with extreme eczema and sensitive skin? Please recommend. Thank you!

@BetterSheaButter Thank you!
Great video! Thank you for sharing! Do you recommend this ratio count if I want to use all 3 butters in one formula? Thank you 😊
Thank you so much! If you add the butters in equal portions, then 40% oil should work
Fantastic video! So helpful
What if you’re mixing butters though? How do you know the correct calculation then?
Customers that have done this mention that they've chosen a ratio that is in the middle of the hardness level of the butters, from very hard (cocoa) to very soft (shea)
@@BetterSheaButter I am over here wrecking my brain trying to calculate the right formula 🫣😂
@@Adasdream It can get tricky when you introduce more ingredients into a formulation, but keep trying!!
@@BetterSheaButter thank you
Hey so are you sure it should be 30 grams because I’m pretty sure it should be about 3 grams for it to be 1% of the formula
You're right, thanks for catching that! I read it incorrectly from my notes -- it should only be 3g.

If I want to make this into a magnesium body butter would you have any tips or ratio amounts to use?
Hello Mandi, we do not have a ratio for that at the moment, but I will pass your feedback along to management!
Hello, what were the 3 combinations of essential oils that you used for each???
Hello, here are the blends used for each:
Shea:
lavender, german chamomile, geranium
Mango:
frankincense, bergamot
Cocoa:
vanilla, bergamot
I love your videos, soon I be making my own different Shea butters!❤️🥰😍

Is there a reason you matched the butters with the oils you did? Or will any combination work as well?
Hi Terry, any combination will work with the butter to oil ratio for each butter!

What is the shelf life of these butters after u make them?
It's about six months, or the soonest expiration date on any of the ingredients you use
Perfect

Thank you so much :)
So is 100% = 10oz ??
Yes in the video examples that is what I used, however you can scale these ratios up or down for any size batch.
