Late 50's?? Wow, you look 30!! Your products must do wonders! Absolutely beautiful!!
Oh thank you!🥰
I have been saying that for years! She easily looks like she's in her 30's! Ellen never ages! She looks amazing!
Hi Ellen! The correct pronunciation is "ku-pu-a-ssu" and the correct writing is Cupuaçu. The letter "ç" has the sound of ss in Portuguese, like kisses 😉
Late 50? No way girl!! You look amazing!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Doesn't she?
Oh thank you!🥰
I tried this today and swapped out the rosehip for another oil and did cetearyl alcohol and it came out wonderful!!! So silky! Letting it sit for a few days to make sure there’s no separation
Ellen, I started watching your channel because I searched for a diy about a month ago for a body butter and from all the videos I found, to be honest with you, yours was the one that made me want to actually try to make it. As of now I have tried probably 4 or 5 different recipes from you including this one, and OMG I am so glad I did, I’m in love with the way it feels and for the scent, my daughter chose cherry blossom, but I only have essential oils as of now. It’s delicioso!!!! I’m so in love with the texture.
But really is not only that, you make the videos very easy to follow, as a beginner in this area I was able to make the salt hand scrub, the body butter, I think also the bath salts I tried but those I prob did something wrong because it never dried on me lol 🤪 but is fine, and this one which I’m in complete ahhh!!!! About it!!! Thank u for taking your time to teach the way u do your products.
And yes you do look very young, isn’t that awesome, jeje 😊 same here, I’m 47 and one time I had to push my emergency button for EMS to come and the guy when he ask for my DOB he couldn’t believe me. He thought I was 25 lol he made my pain go away for a split second.
The Joy and happiness that comes from our hearts makes us feel and look younger!!!!
God bless u!
Thank you🥰 I'm so glad your enjoying the recipes❣️
Ellen that cream looked gorgeous, you've hit the nail on the head with that one. Well done. 🥰🇬🇧❄️
Thanks so much 😊
I ended up making it with kokum, mango, and cocoa butter, my three favorites, turned out great!
Late 50's WOW! You look amazing! Whatever you're doing and have been doing is working 😊
Thanks🥰

Thank you Ellen for another wonderful lotion making, you are so sweet to share your adventures and recipe with us. Love your teaching and the easy way you go about it. Can wait to try this recipe for me and my daughters!! Love you Ellen!! May God bless all your days together with your family.
Thank you! You too!🤎
I love emulsified body butters! I am definitely trying this one today, may switch out mango for one of the butters I do not have
Has anyone ever today you you look like one of the X-Men actresses? The lady with the red hair, I think she's called "Jean Grey" Frame Janssen 😊 You look more beautiful everytime I watch your videos.
Oh gosh, thank you🥰
I made a tiny 50g batch of this last night following the recipe exactly. It was a fun challenge measuring out such small quantities of all the different oils. The recipe made like a dream, so smooth with every last drop scooping easily out my mixing jug into my waiting amber jar. The finished body butter is lovely and thick just how I like it, and yes it goes on like silk and absorbs right into the skin with no greasiness! My butter took on a lovely warm yellow colour as soon as the rosehip oil went in. I love it and decided to add Bergamot as my scent. Will definitely be making this again and have fun playing with different oils and butters next time. Thankyou for sharing with us😃
So glad you're loving the recipe 🤎
I love rose hip oil. I had bought and used a rosehip and sea buckthorn face oil years ago that I would love to replicate. I need to find some of that cupuacu butter and give it a try. Love your videos
Oh my gosh Ellen! This is going to be a decadent body butter!!!! Rose hip oil is fabulous for the skin. You do not look to be in your late 50s. Your skin is beautiful and very young looking!
Thanks for bringing us along!
Cheers 👍💕🤗
Thank you so much🥰 Yes, I love Rosehip oil❣️
Fun video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Holly! I'm a big fan of your videos🤎
@@EllenRuthSoap Thank you! I don't normally take time to sit and watch making videos but this one sucked me in! ❤
I’m still very new to making bath products I make for my own use and not to sell. I’ve learned so much from you, and I wanted to say thank you for sharing some recipes, for people like me.
You are so welcome!
Obrigado ❤😊
Hi Ellen, I love your videos. You are a wonderful teacher. I’m just wondering if you use any DIY facial moisturizers and if so, would you be willing to share? You have beautiful skin!
I use my emulsified body butters (both recipes) on my face and this cream for around the eye area: ruclips.net/video/okAdT_QmoS4/видео.html
Id give anything to be a friend or family to be able to try this amazing cream!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉 I don't make soap or anything for the body just here for the content i love your videos!!!
Thanks🤎
Ellen all I use is my trusty hair dryer I bought many many years ago. Got it at goodwill for &2.00. I even por a video long ago on my IG. It works! . I told you when you made the sopa. That cupuacu is miraculously better than many other butters and Kokum oh my words. I changed my formula from Shea to Kokum and didn’t tell my daughter anything. She came home and said did you write the recipe down mom? Of course I answered and she replied I don’t want nothing but this lotion until summer comes! It’s that 😊 Thank you Ellen!
Glad to know a hair dryer works❣️ And I am loving these new butters🤎
Thank you for sharing! I love your recipes and videos! Would I need to use the BTMS 50 or can I substitute it? Thank you!
You could increase the E-wax, but I really like how the btms50 feels..
Love all your videos!! For the 8oz jars when buying a temple on Etsy what size should I be looking for?
I like the 1.5" x 5" labels, but there are several sizes that would fit.
🇨🇦 here ✨💕
good
Afternoon Ellen!! So I decided to make this recipe and I multiplied all ingredients by 5 and all is still simmering as I type. Can I transfer the water and oils to a larger pitcher to mix? I am guessing it is fine..lol I wanted to make enough for my farmers market this Saturday. Will make a few batches if this works out for sure! As always you rock!!
Absolutely luxurious! It’s actually cupuasoo. In languages like French and Spanish there’s a little symbol that looks like a 5 cut off at the top that’s added under the c. It tells you that the c is a soft c. You may or may not have noticed some spellings of this word have that cut off number 5 under the c. Love your videos.
Thank you for explaining the pronuciation so well🤎
I miss your shop
Thank you so much for this recipe, I made it and I'm in love!! If I wanted to make this recipe with 35% total in butters and oils would I need to reduce the emulsifier? I also want a thicker lotion. Thank you!
That's a whole different recipe. I suggest trying a small test batch and see how you like the finish.
Hi Ellen! Thanks so much for sharing this video, I can’t wait to try it. I saw that you weighed your oils & butters all in one place, do you think it would be a big difference if separately weigh out each ingredient and then add together?
You can measure them separately, and then combine👍
@@EllenRuthSoap Tysm! I appreciate your speedy response. I was a bit worried about if an amount was overweight, it could be a task trying to get it out. 😬😅 Congratulations again on your RUclips award!! Simply the best 🥰❤️
I need to know what you use of your skin - face and back of hands. You look amazing
Oh thank you! Good studio lighting helps😉 I use my own soap and lotion as well as retinol and red light mask.
Hi Ellen. Do you hv a video regarding calculating grams and percentage for body butters?
Not at this time, but it's a great idea for a video👍
Thats so lovely ruth. Can i ask u , have rheumatoid arthritis.Supposeably magnesium can help with pain.Could you add this and would this be of benefit?
Here is a video for a good magnesium lotion: ruclips.net/video/u9rl5N2SR90/видео.htmlsi=CQK9tj9d7vv-xgVK
Hi Ellen I tried this I love it. I used 3 different butters. I want to make a bigger batch. I'm thinking if I x's this by 10 if that's the way to get a bigger batch.
Yes, you can size this up just like that👍
The recipie totals up to 101 percent and what will be swapped out for adding fragrance oil
Hi have you also tryed isopropyl Myristate in your body butters
Not yet😉
Kuh Poo Kuh butter, is the procunciation :) in case you wondered
Thanks Ellen great video as always!
Gonna finally be brave and copy cat you tomorrow..
Q: Can I substitute butter ingredients if don’t have all the fancier butters?
Is there a super fat % needed to calculate like in CP soap? Thanks again for sharing!
-Momo
In lotions you can sub butters and oils. In soap I like a 5% S.F.
Can we use gaur gum and xanthan gum instead of cetyl alcohol and emulsifying wax for thickening and emulsifying?
I've not worked with those so I can't really speak to that. I suggest trying a small test batch and see how you like the finish.
Hello Ellen I made your oatmeal body lotion I love it♥️ I want to make this butter I only have optiphen plus can you tell me the amount to add ? Thank you ♥️
I think the suggested usage is .5-1.5% , but you should double check with the supplier.
Can I use Argon oil in place of an oil or have 4 oils as long as the total is 35 grams..No WAY you are in your late 50s- you are GORGEOUS!!!!!!
🥰thanks! Yes, you can replace the liquid oils with other liquid oils👍
Hi Ellen I love all your video!! 🌹🌹It Is better to use 70% alcool to sanitize the surface the water help the alcool to do is job ;-)) And s like the other one say you look splendide.
Thank you so much🥰 I use 91 or 99% alcohol, just because that's what I have. 70% will work fine too👍
Hi Ellen The Rice Bran Oil, can it be any like unrefined, pure, etc. I'm trying to get all my supplies so that I can make this body butter. Many thanks
Yes, it can be any good quality liquid oil👍
Wow I’ve always wanted to learn how to mix butters in to make a more lotion type product, thanks so much!!!
Quick question if I wanted to make a larger batch do I just multiply each ingredient by how many more bottles I’d like to make, what’s the best way to make a larger batch?
Yes, you can double or triple the recipe...👍
@@EllenRuthSoap perfect thanks! Do you mentor or are willing to mentor? Im new starting a small business and could really use help.
Ellen, I know you make oat water for lotions but I cannot recall if you have used it for soap? I was going to give it a try but I’m not as experienced of a soap maker as you and would feel better if you think it would be ok! 😂 As in replacing some of the water with oat water. I want clear looking soap so was going to skip the colloidal oats. Thanks!
Yes, oat water or oat milk is fabulous in soap🤎
You are such a great teacher! Is there a preservitive that you know of that is more I'll say "natural" for lack of a better word. I want to make some lotions for my family and I but my mom has psoriatic disease and a huge list of ingredients she can't use. I've tried doing some research, but without purchasing a bunch and testing, I wouldn't know for sure. Just didn't know if you have one you like? Or know that works well. Thank you in advance 😁
Preservatives are a huge subject... I suggest doing research and finding one that you're comfortable with.
@EllenRuthSoap ok...thank you so much!
Ca you do a break down in ounces? I can’t figure out the grams to ounces. Thank you
Google has a fabulous grams to oz calc👍
The pronunciation is difficult! Think ''KOO-POO-AH-SU''. And I concur with below statements - you are looking GORGEOUS.
Thank you🥰
CaPooahchoo 😂. I had to ask someone who is native to Ghana.
I started making soap because of you and my basic soap base contains a LOT of butters, also inspired by you. Thank YOU!
That is awesome!🤎
Ur absolutely beautiful. No one believes me that I’m 47 yrs old. I’ve had a skin care routine since I’m 12. I don’t have lines at all not even when I raise my eyebrows or smile. I make sure I’m hydrated and I do not sleep on my face at all.
I make body butter. True body butter and I have ppl contacting me all the time asking for my recipe which to me that’s ridiculous. It’s my best seller so I don’t why anyone would except a company to hand over a recipe that I worked on for over 2 years. I spent thousands of dollars to protect this. It’s a true body butter and I don’t use water or E wax or a lot of the chemicals ppl put in their emulsified body butter lotion. This looks stunning. But, I don’t just whip a butter together with a little bit of oil. Cause that’s nasty and anyone can do that. My son has horrible eczema on his hands and so does my husband and my other son however, my oldest he has mild Asperger and like me he does not like certain textures he cannot stand to have something greasy on him. He would rather his nipples cracking bleed before the sun greasy was my guinea pig for over two years. That’s why I named after him, and finally, I had the right oil essential oils temperatures exactly how long to whip it which believe it or not takes a very long time. I can see by looking at it when it’s ready if you take my body butter and I have displayed this on my TikTok and you put it on there’s no shine. There’s no oil there’s no shine. There’s no grease literally rubbing on and hand and it’s in your skin. So I use letters, beeswax starch, hard oil liquid oil that’s been infused for six weeks. I use my old like the Egyptians so it takes six to 8 weeks I am my essential oils by the drop. I literally count each drop , vitamin E and a preservative and then as I said temperatures make a huge difference and I whip it makes a huge difference. I promise you it is not greasy whatsoever. So that’s how I’ve been doing it all these years. I did change two butters out well actually I had Shea butter cocoa, butter, and mango butter, and it seems like I don’t know if I’m the only one that’s noticed this shape, butter and mango butter since the pandemic has been horrible so easily never had a problem with it until the last couple years I don’t know why it’s not so I changed out all three of those and I use cacao butter and Kokom butter and it’s perfect absolutely perfect.
Looks great but didn't see the pH mentioned. How did yours turn out?
Yes, mine tested at about pH of 5
Question: Ive been making the body butter per your recipe for a while. Last few times the butter is a little stiffer than usual. I do know that the btms 50 really thickens and stiffens my creams, (not a fan) but wondering if Im using a different emulsifying wax or steric acid that is making the creams heavier... I made several samples with different. amount of emulsifying and cutting it sown does help but the slip seems to not be as long. My whipped body butter is nice and creamy and stays that way but the emulsified is varying a lot. Any thoughts???? Thanks
Hmmm, that's an interesting problem... Sometimes I do wonder if different batches of ingredients are slightly different causing the same recipe to behave differently???
Hi Ellen, what is the reason for bringing the distilled water and glycerin to a boil? Can it just be heated to the same temp as the oil/butter mix? Thanks!
I've just always done it to kill of any pathogens and or germs, it's an extra step making sure everything is super sanitized.
@@EllenRuthSoap Thanks for the quick reply and FYI I just made this and I don't think I will use another moisturizer again, like ever. Love, love, love this recipe. (I did use Argon Oil instead of the sweet almond) thanks so much for your videos. They have been invaluable to me.
I've been looking for a Cupacao body butter. I prefer to buy it rather than make it. Do you have a link for ready made butter?
I don't sell products any longer. But the cupuacu is fabulous in body butter🤎
Hi! Can I replace BTMS 50 with BTMS 25? what would be the difference if any? Thank you!
Yes, it will effect the feel and texture a bit.
Ellen what substitute could you use instead of btms 50?
You could just use E-wax for the total or use btms 25..
Thank you Ellen ❤
I am new to your channel. Have you used Natural Bulk Supplies for a while? If you are happy with their Rosehip oil do you know where it is sourced from? Thank you
I don’t know where they source, but I’ve been so happy with their products ❣️
@@EllenRuthSoap Ok, thanks!
What would you suggest if I wanted a “little” shine?
You could add a touch of skin safe mice, perhaps a blush or bronze color..
Make at least 5% of your oil portion from greasy, slower absorbing oils, i.e. castor oil, olive oil, soybean oil.
@tddjimmie thank you soooo much! I’m going to try this. I don’t want it to be chicken grease shine 😅 but justtttttt a little glow. Thanks again!
How do you determine pricing on your products?
Modern Soapmaking has really good articles on product pricing 🤎
Just curious, your total percentages in the description box add up to over 100% and that excludes fragrance percentage as well. Is there a typo somewhere or should I just adjust out of the water phase
The preservative, fragrance, and Vit E oil are % of the Body Butter ingredients (which add up to 100%) As in, they are "extra" ingredients on top of the base.
I want a vanilla scented lotion will the other butter and oils cancel that? Do you have a recipe you recommend?
There are many wonderful vanilla fragrances to choose from, and you can't smell the oils over them.
Does it have to be a fragrance or can it be a vanilla oil? Could you by chance do a video of what items we need to get and where you recommend to purchase? Also do you by chance sell starter kits?@@EllenRuthSoap
Your videos are by far the best ones I have seen, thank you so much!
Kuh-poo-Kuh 😊
I tried this last night.however I only used Distilled water, sunflower oil, Shea butter, emulsifying wax, vegetable glycerin, cetyl alcohol, vitamin e oil, germall plus and fragrance. It turned out beautiful but I feel like it’s missing a tad bit more slip. were my ingredients suitable?
Yes, each ingredient brings it's own "feel" to the formula.
How does this compare to your other recipe?
They are very similar, but this one has a "richer" finished feel to it...
It's coo-poo-ah-su like you said the second attempt. Lol it's an amazing butter! And there is NO WAY you're in your late 50s! You have amazing skin and look way younger than that. 😊
Oh thank you! The studio lighting is flattering, in person I do look my age🥰
@@EllenRuthSoap I'm sure that's not at all true. You remind me so much of Famke Jensen. Very beautiful! ♥
Hi instead of rice bran what we can use
You can sub with any good liquid oil👍
@@EllenRuthSoap like?
😮😊🙏👍
BTMS 50, is so hard to find in Europe.
🥲
Can I sub btms 25 for the 50? I happen to have the 25 at home now…
Yes, it will be a little different but still really good👍
how could i add aloe vera??
As a portion of the liquid 👍
Are any of the ingredients fair trade?
Yes, Natural Bulk Supplies uses ethically sourced fair trade oils and butters.
Can btms25 be a substitute?
It will be a bit different, but still good. I suggest a small test batch and see how you like the finish.
@@EllenRuthSoapEllen BTMS50 has two times more conditioning properties compared to BTMS 25. I do prefers BTMS50 for our hair ( texture) and skin- AZ is too dry 😅
kupuahSU.... that's how we pronounce it.. :))
