Great video, only one problem I think you should have included people who are against it, especially putting money into the hands of people. We all see what happens to people who win the lottery, complete turmoil. Its at best that reparations are put into programs that would benefit black communities long term such as better educational programs ( trade and college) and job creating programs in certain communities. But putting money directly into peoples hands is a disaster just waiting to happen.
The U.S. does not owe us reparations; we Caribbean Black People , Black Americans, & Black People In General Need to go after the BANKS & THE STOCK MARKET if we want reparations. ⚠️

I'm black and was born in the United States. However, my father was born in Haiti and my mother was born in Jamaica; so, I don't think that I should receive any reparations from the United States since my ancestors were not enslaved in this country.

The Caribbean was taken by France, the British and Spain. The US own portions now like Puerto Rico but even still that's a different claim. The damage done wasn't the same, and they purchased it after it was conquered by Spain. Same scenario with the other islands they own. That's 2 different claims.
They feel it's divisive because for so long they've benefited by tethering to us and undermining us at the same time. They fear they will be left behind and have to face the yt man without our protection. This is why many flee their Countries instead of fighting.
I respect my brothers and Sisters in the diaspora, but some of you come here with the sole purpose of selling us FBAs out, and siding with the yt man for crumbs. This is why we have to vet who speaks and represents us when it comes to this claim. Any black person that states we don't need cash payouts as part of our reparations claim. Should be immediately checked, and if they are not FBA, they shouldn't speak for us regarding reparations. And this includes Sheila Jackson Lee, because she is of Jamaican descent and is technically not eligible to receive reparations from the US government anyway.

We question and demand more because we see how fast things are moving. Stuff being sprayed from the air, bad water quality, mandates for getting jabs in the arm. When it comes to the whole 40 acres and a mule; Special Field order 13 that was signed by General Sherman after him and black union soldiers burned Georgia to the ground, stated that we were supposed to receive 400,000 acres of land.
The only way that field order could be revoked legally was by an act or congress. The President had no legal authority to rescind that field order.
So in a legal context, we are owed the present day value of that 400,000 acres.
Reparations would only deal with that, but black society still has valid claims of genocide that has happened several times since the end of reconstruction. The government put drugs in our communities to fund an illegal war against another country. We have had communities destroyed threw government legislation. Our claims are valid more so than anyone else presently in America receiving tangibles.

Who is the descendant of US slavery!! The distinction must always be stated! There are Caribbean black people and Africans who did not arrive until after we got the 1965 Civil Rights Act passed.
Reparations are for "eligible recipients." This must include post-slavery immigrants who were also subjected to the systemic racism still present in the States.
@@RechtmanDon It doesn't include them. This is lineage based! If your ancestors were not traced back to American chattel slavery, then you are not eligible. Immigrants are excluded. One or both sides of your family must have descended from US chattel slavery.

But we might want to consider that we are a nation of immigrants, and any people of color arriving post-slavery era are subjected to the same systemic racism disadvantages as those of slavery descent. The purpose of having a committee to develop reparation standards instead of just issuing a blanket reparation policy is to address the disparity of impacts the racism has had on different populations.

Reparations is not about paying back what is owed. Reparations is about reestablishing a balance that was lost (in this case) due to post-slavery era systemic racism. While we most often hear that fixing the system is not enough--we need reparations, the more crucial reality is that its the other way around: reparations is not enough--we also must fix the system! Even if we made all people of color into millionaires, they would still lack access to basic human rights due to the ongoing systemic racism. This is not a one item issue; there is a very big picture here that needs to be addressed, that is long overdue to be addressed.
