On Nyxbloom Ancient, play it when you have 3 blue sources still available, tap them for 9 blue mana, and target Nyxbloom Ancient with a kicked Rite of Replication*. 6 copies of Nyxbloom Ancient turns 1 mana into 729 mana.
Though you'd already be looking at a board with 17 available mana (assuming you still have a source to overmultiply this turn) So, I'd call that... overcommitting

Nightmare Shepherd seems like a good addition to OG Chainer. As far as Underworld Breach, at first I thought you could break it with Sundial of the Infinite but it says “the” end step instead of “your”.

I'm actually putting thassa's Oracle into my muldrotha deck. On top of the new thassa when I get her. I dunno. As you said yourself. Just seems good. Least to me anyway
I saw a gameplay video the other day where someone played a Kroxa deck with that exact combo in it. It looked pretty insane as they looped Lion's Eye Diamond and Wheel of Fortune to assemble a Worldgorger Dragon Combo to win.
Why do you need the Dockside Extortionist? Underworld Breach, Lion's Eye Diamond and Wheel do it all on it's own. Up until you have enough of your deck in your graveyard and then you win in some other way :-)
A lot of people seem to be sleeping on Dreamshaper Shaman tbh. Being able to pay 2 and a red to sac a non-land permanent and essentially Cascade the deck but for any cmc non-land permanent is very powerful if you're putting it in a deck full of heavy hitters. Imagine sacrificing a token or a mana dork in Gruul and pulling a Great Henge off the top, or a Nyxbloom Ancient
I've just open a booster box last week of TBD and yes my EV doesn't cover the price of the box but I hit the most effective commander cards like nyxbloom, green dryade foil, ashiok full art foil, shadowspear heliode... Couldn't be more happy 😁
This is a great list! I won't be playing all of these but I'm glad this set was a little toned down. By the end of the year I was taking out cards I had only played a few times to replace them with newer better cards. The overflow of good stuff was pretty huge last year.
I think heliod intervention should get a mention as well. Blowing up 2 artefacts/ enchantments for 4 mana is a pretty standart rate for white. And if you pump more mana into it, i think it gets pretty busted
With underworld breach, casting instants or sorceries doesn't exile them so as long as you have a full grave you can keep casting them over and over... and its red. Hello new storm deck staple.
Nightmare shepherd paired with athreos the shroud Vail is stupid fun because athreos says if a creature has a coin and is sent to the graveyard or EXILES return it under your CONTROL and it's any creature you could put a coin counter so you can put it on yours just imagine how dumb it is to sacifice a creature to exile by nightmare shepherd only to have the original come by but with also a copy of itself. The only problem is athreos is kinda expensive to cast since he needs 4 and a white an black and the coin ability happens in your endstep but if you can manage to keep him and Shepherd on board for a bit it gets Crazy
If you run the new purphoros as your commander and cast deathbellow war cry, take fanatic of mogis, double neheb, and glint horn buccaneer, you should win on the spot if it resolves.

@@XCodes first off, any time that I have seen approach of the second sun go off, it was generally on the same turn that it came out. Is insanely easy do you get through 7 cards in a single turn without anyone being able to respond. Especially with the printing of Smothering Tithe. And when you're playing Coalition Victory, a large majority of your Commanders may have a WUBRG identity but will not actually be all colors. Examples of being Najeela, Golos, and Morophon. In those decks, that is a lot harder task. I'm not saying that's the case with all WUBRG commanders, but you also have to think that most 5 color decks play with nonbasics over basic lands for consistent colors. This requires a simplifying of your mana base just to make this card viable. Hence, I don't believe it should be banned
You need to think bigger with Deathbellow War Cry! I'm gonna use it in Reaper King, to get Changeling Titan, Changeling Hero and Changeling Berserker at once. And then I proceed to do the "O-Ring loop" with those three Changelings and snipe all of my opponents' permanents that don't have hexproof/shroud or indestructible :D
@@danaholland6686 They all trigger their Champion ability and you decide that the last one (Hero) on the stack exiles the first one (Berserker) and the second one (Titan) will exile the last one (Hero). You don't exile one for Berserker, so normally it would have to be sacrificed, but it will be exiled by the Hero before the sacrifice can happen, so nothing happens. Then Titan will exile Hero, so Berserker comes back and exiles Titan. Hero comes back and exiles Berserker. And so forth.
dana holland champion a creature. Each change long will act like O-rings for each other. Champion hero with Titan, than champion Titan with berserker, hero comes back and then champions the berserker. There’s the loop. With the king out you start sniping everything.

i would imagine the play is to play Thassa's Oracle, and respond to her own ETB (which is look at the top 2 assuming she is your only devotion to blue) with Demonic Consultation at instant speed, and if it resolves, you have no deck and then her ETB looking at the top 2 where 0 is the count of cards on the top of your library, thus since 2>=0, you win).
@@nathanmcduck2999 It serves as a lightning rod for Kaalia because if they kill it it means there's one less removal that went towards Kaalia, if they decide to kill Kaalia, you get her as a 1/1 (which is not a problem because we're looking for her ability, not her power/toughness). He's basically one more way to protect our commander (making them waste at least one more spot removal to deal with her). He's one more tool for the protection package in the deck : Mother of Runes / Giver of Runes / Lightning Greaves / Swiftfoot Boots / Avacyn, Angel of Hope / Restoration Angel.
I disagree with the analysis for Nyxbloom Ancient. It is definitely going to have a giant impact and be targeted, but if you have any single thing to untap, let's say... basalt monolith, grim, staff of dom, a ton of other things. Well it gets out of hand. I think this is a dangerous card to have in our format at least for green. We had vorinclex as well as oceans of other solid options, this just turns things into academy rector screaming to do filthy things to a playgroup. I love the card, I just think it's a scary addition into the meta.
Low-key miss here, IMO, is Purphoros's intervention- it's not every day they print a mono-r spell you can use to remove big commander threats, and I think any red deck that isn't *also* black is doing itself a disservice not running it.
Nyxbloom can help make infinite with Basalt Monolith; even though it's just colorless mana it's still nice as you can just save your lands to pay for the colored part. That said, there are better cards in the set, IMO, so I wouldn't rank it higher than 6.
Everyone is entitled to their own thoughts on a card, but I very much disagree with not putting Nyxbloom Ancient at 1. He is just a green staple forever now.
Heliod's Intervention deserves an honorable mention, even better with Shadowspear. Destroy is not as good as exile, but the scalability and the optional lifegain are excellent, also great in any deck that can fork spells.
I'd like to include all the 1 or 2 cost less for creatures to cast Uro for 10 times or hopefully more and call the deck UroUroUroUroUroUroUroUroUroUroUroUro XD
My biggest complaint is that Uro was here. He's bad in commander... He seems great on the surface but almost every game of commander if you're in a semi competitive game, someone has graveyard hate. He is ok as part of the 99 but i don't think he is worth it as a commander. Not to mention you have to exile 5 cards just to play him...
The thing I don’t get about the Titans is that, yes, the etb is good. And you can defiantly abuse it. But that’s all that card can do. With uro, drawing and putting a land onto the field is good, yes, but to escape it eats 5 of your cards. What good is the card advantage of the card if it takes more than it gives? And good luck trying to attack with it, in a format such as ours, it’s bound to only last upto one or two turns before it eats a removal spell. I really like the look and feel of the elder titan cards, but the escape mechanic just doesn’t do it for me.
That's the thing about the Titans, escape is a repeatable mechanic, so you always have them as potential late game threats that can be activated from the graveyard

purpleganja2 What’s really funny this combo goes infinite with any 1 drop colorless artifact creature + a way to give infinite haste to a Snow Hound or something like that, or just Untap Chulane infinitely , You go infinite with the Basalt Monolith, Pay 1 for the artifact creature, Draw off of Chulane, Bounce it back, play both those cards again, you draw your entire deck, and if you have a Laboratory Maniac or WAR Jace, you win the game
@@Alphine_Agnitio There's a lot of things to do with infinite colorless mana! You can also use gemstone array to convert it to any color or get a really huge X on something like cut//ribbon or walking balista or a simple fireball.
I despise Shadow Spear as someone who plays Sigarda as one of my commanders. I wish it atleast had be equipped to be activated or costed more to use. I imagine I will get spite played by it during a board wipe as someone who often plays Heroic Intervention, boros charm and other effects to save my stuff. Some other player with no creatures and didn't cast the board wipe will just make sure I lose my stuff too thanks to this horrible new artifact. Sure Bonds of Mortality already exist...but basically no one runs it because has no other effect besides being a cantrip and only green players can run. This is colorless and useful equipment....and has a horrible bonus effect I hope people I play don't adopt for most of their decks. All I can hope is the cost goes thru the roof to keep too many people from playing it.
The ETB is best described as a very good scry. In a deck with new Thassa, you can flicker it every turn to get perfect draws, which is exactly what blue wants to do. Sure, it doesn't draw a card, but it only costs 2 mana. Great inclusion in any flicker deck or deck that cares about the top of the library. A card that gives value on ETB which can be repeated and sometimes wins the game outright is far from mediocre.
You didn't mess up the list. But referring to cEDH style combos and game-plans as "Predatory" garnered a bit of a "oof" from me. #cEDHAreNotPubStompers

Also friendly reminder that if you use the card flash it only costs 4 lands to put him into play. Or 3 lands and 1 rock/dork.
Missing Heliod's Intervention. It's just an improved version of stable artifact/enchantment removal. It's not flashy, but it is powerful.

fyi a nyxbloom and signet would net you 8 mana not 6 since you get 3 from tapping for a mana to pay for it :)

A friend of mine plays Yasova, and I've told him repeatedly that Thassa is absolutely necessary in that deck.

@@Alphine_Agnitio yeah, that's a casual combo just like Nyxbloom Ancient is. At least Basalt Monolith can be useful alone and synergyze or combo with other cards in some way.
purpleganja2 What’s really funny this combo goes infinite with any 1 drop colorless artifact creature + a way to give infinite haste to a Snow Hound or something like that, or just Untap Chulane infinitely , You go infinite with the Basalt Monolith, Pay 1 for the artifact creature, Draw off of Chulane, Bounce it back, play both those cards again, you draw your entire deck, and if you have a Laboratory Maniac or WAR Jace, you win the game

You can also use gemstone array to convert it to any color or get a really huge X on something like cut//ribbon or walking balista or a simple fireball.

I despise Shadow Spear as someone who plays Sigarda as one of my commanders. I wish it atleast had be equipped to be activated or costed more to use. I imagine I will get spite played by it during a board wipe as someone who often plays Heroic Intervention, boros charm and other effects to save my stuff. Some other player with no creatures and didn't cast the board wipe will just make sure I lose my stuff too thanks to this horrible new artifact. Sure Bonds of Mortality already exist...but basically no one runs it because has no other effect besides being a cantrip and only green players can run. This is colorless and useful equipment....and has a horrible bonus effect I hope people I play don't adopt for most of their decks. All I can hope is the cost goes thru the roof to keep too many people from playing it.

Missing Whirlwind Denial, IMO
Thassa's oracle does not draw technically, it filters cards. Outside of combo decks, it is pretty mediocre.
The ETB is best described as a very good scry. In a deck with new Thassa, you can flicker it every turn to get perfect draws, which is exactly what blue wants to do. Sure, it doesn't draw a card, but it only costs 2 mana. Great inclusion in any flicker deck or deck that cares about the top of the library. A card that gives value on ETB which can be repeated and sometimes wins the game outright is far from mediocre.

honestly, no one was "wondering" what was #1 on the list lol. Anything other than Thassa's Oracle wouldn't have made any sense.
A lot of these cards are heavily under valued, those green cards aren’t going anywhere but up.
