Is it just me, but Russel T Davis said he doesn’t want Davros in a wheelchair because he’s a bad guy he doesn’t want to represent wheelchair uses as bad guys. He’s not in a wheelchair!! It’s the bottom part of a Darlick!. With that argument, then give Darlicks legs. Then they can go upstairs and take over the world 😅😅

While I would agree RTD has been coming off like an older man trying to be hip by making things inclusive that isn't a bad thing. What's been bad in my opinion was showing he doesn't fully understand certain concepts or social attitudes. Like taking Davros out of his chair to not subliminally message that those who can't walk are bad (a real stretch for me I thought the chair was cool) or conflating being nonbinary with being trans as he did with Donna's daughter Rose, who clearly is a binary embracing trans girl. But that's not what you're complaining about. Even so, he's trying and that is good, as we all should try to be more accepting and respectful of others, it's what I think the Doctor is all about. So I will say this:
3:34 Faith is complete trust or confidence in something that isn't always a good thing. Blind faith can even be dangerous. Like stepping on a land mine it could cause certain death.
3:42 You're personally fortunate for no pro-"alphabet" stuff? Acknowledging others exist isn't even a stance it's just a fact. Bad take, Joe.
    4:28 It isn't anti-religious it's anti-virtue signaling/disguised apathy.
5:02 Capitalism isn't the only thing keeping this show going, the people do, being critical of and playing with the ideas of a system that many have no choice but to engage in is how art works and how we continue to progress societies by thinking about its permutations.
5:33 For someone coming off as both angry and condescending I can't help but think you match this description.
5:37 Especially when you follow it up with this. Come on, Joe. Distasteful.
6:21 You had it just to let go of it. Death defines us because it's a part of life and without it we would never be alive. Death has everything to do with life.
    6:55 Elon Musk take. Yowza.
8:07 The decision to tell us this gives the opposite impression.
Anyway, stay triggered, king. Enjoy your safe space.

What a weird response. You're critiquing the correctness of woke activism in a show that can't survive without a mass appeal. To have faith is to trust. Saying you have faith in somebody is saying you trust them. So how is it bad to blindly follow a God who provides morality, hope and purpose to a lot of people. But no you'll just prefer a world without absolutes, where anything is permissable. Murder, SA, grooming and no one will ever be punished because there's nothing once it's gone.
It is anti-religious, what are you on. RTD is a homo who blames everything wrong in his life on religion.
No, I don't want the alphabet mob in anything. It's not healthy for a society.
There was nothing wrong with capitalism, it's just brain dead pretentious modern think tanks and the idiot fools who follow them who hate it because there lazy.
How is it distasteful to criticise the pro Palestine lot for literally doing nothing but supporting a terrorist state, that murders people like themselves. The point about the "Thoughts and Prayers" thing is that it's a trite phrase that people use after a terrorist attack or mass shooting, like a virtue signal that people use online before they go about their day.
    2) Matt Smith's Doctor was disrespectful at one point to the cleric soldiers in A Time of Angels, and the Bishop got one back at him. Moffat showed the Doctor as quite bigoted at times during his time as showrunner to show that the Doctor is not always right. In this story his prejudices come out under stress, and he tries to track them back at the end of the episode.
    3) Moffat said the "dying defines us" line years ago. He's not wrong. The whole of art and religion would be different if no-one died. Dark Water was a thinly veiled attack on the Transhumanist movement and their attempt to abolish death. The way that it's expressed in this episode is clunky, I'll give you that.

The Doctor states towards the end of the episode that he needs faith too, I don't think the episode is supposed to be an attack on organised religion, but maybe about blindly following without thinking, as none of the soldiers stopped to think about their enemy. The story's in the future, "capitalism" is the driving force behind the war in the episode, and it sounded like a critique of Boeing or Lockheed Martin more than everyday life.
The quote at 6:00, tbh could slot into many of Moffats prior scripts and it would feel natural. Seems like a Doctory thing to say, especially as Ruby did just die in front of him.
The Dad is a strong character who supports his daughter and, in the end, saves the day. Not very "white male" hating. That isn't me saying that never happens in the modern show, but that this was an exception imo. To me, 14, later 15 and Ruby, have been an improvement on 13s era so far. Yes, there's been some OTT moments but the quality of the show has gone up. Welcome to disagree, just my two pence :)

    • @troffle

This episode really doesn't make a difference between faith and religion. The classic episode "The Curse Of Fenric" does, does it well, and doesn't make fun of either. But this episode? Big nope.
Also, Moffat's incompetent. If he wanted to push the "capitalism", he would've had an enemy the soldiers could shoot at to sell more ammunition (by having the mines and ambulances project holograms of enemies?), made the mines not-recyclable to sell more mines, not kill wounded soldiers to they could be sold medicines and treatments, to keep fighting, to keep using more ammunition.
You need drama, Vater's blindness needed him to die? Stupid. Just have his service to the military extended, have his credit line dropped even further, making him work harder to support his child.
Why should I care if Ruby dies? The Doctor can just breathe on her and bring her back to life. Why should I care that Vater died, his daughter didn't.
How organised is this religion? I didn't see the Ordained Anglican Marines pray to God much.
Is this episode "woke" or not? I don't even care. "None of the soldiers stopped to think about their enemy"? THE WRITER OF THE EPISODE didn't stop to think about the episode, and now the claim is he drafted this episode TWO YEARS AGO? He's incompetent and the episode is an absolute mess, that's a much bigger problem.
The quality of the show has gone down, in the one part that would be the cheapest and easiest to fix. I don't know what's worse, that the show is so irretrievably bad, or that people praise this garbage. It needs to be shut down. This horror needs to be stopped.

The writers of Nurse What clearly forgot at one point the Doctor HAD morals, values and *FAITH* "if I believe in one thing, I believe in her (Rose Tyler)" which is what made the character fantastic! But we know this isn't Doctor Who any more anyway.

I started disliking the show when Bill came along. Did I care that she was a lesbian? No. Did she need to remind us every single episode? Also no. If you want the inclusivity, then slip it in subtly. Make it part of the background. Make it seem like a part of every day life as normal. There is no need to shove it, and any other views held by RTD, down our throats at every opportunity. The writing, acting, and overall execution has been declining for years. Doctor Who used to be a show about bringing the audience together. It created UNITY. Like a sporting grand final or the Olympics or a Telethon. Judging by all your comments, do you see what the show's done now? It's created nothing but fighting, anger and hate, and everyone has a different opinion it. Whether you love it or hate the show, we have everyone hating each other because of their beliefs. Instead of bringing everyone together, the show's just driven everyone apart and just got EVERYONE offside politically. Why watch it if you're just going to get riled up and start hating either, the show or other people for their beliefs? It's not in a healthy state right now, and won't get healthier unless the show's appealing to society as a whole, instead of over-emphasizing sections of it. They should put it back on free to air and work on making it a national institution for the common good of all, instead of just, me, me, me. We should all try and see the bigger picture, and if the show's only going to bring up anger and hate, then that's not healthy for you, me or anybody, so just walk away.

What about this episode is “juvenile and vindictive” I saw and experienced a short mature concise story about the doctor standing on a land mine and talking about how blind faith without critical thinking can work with capitalism to fund wars, similar to the Israel-Palestine conflict currently taking place in modern time. I know it might be shocking to you but when it was saying not to have blind faith it wasn’t just mentioning Christianity it was mentioning all forms of blind faith. If you can’t see that in the episode then you must be suffering from some form of media illiteracy because it doesn’t take much to see what I just said above.

Stop trying to make Christianity a victim here, it is not the only religion that fosters blind faith in followers. You get the same thing in cults, or the Muslim religion, what do you think Isis is, a fucking Muslim religious sect that pushes followers that blindly follow them to go to war, which is what the episode is criticising at points, the failure to look past your religion and believe it’s only attacking you is reductive and behaving the same way as you say the “snowflakes” act and is extremely reductive to any form of serious conversation about the nature of belief, religion, and faith.

      - Moffat made his appearances of the First Doctor come out to be a lot more sexist than he used to be. Moffat introduced the idea of genderswapping regeneration. How stupid would you as a Time Lord have to be to be sexist when you've grown up in a society where either last week or next week you might be the opposite gender?
      - From Colin Baker, we know the Time Lords have been at their status of "absolute power" for ten million years. If your society regularly gender-swaps with regeneration, why would you have the separate terms "Time Lord" and "Time Lady" after TEN MILLION YEARS?
      - gender-swapping is boring and pedestrian, just like the TV show. In the books, they had regenerations into alien species for Time War missions. Moffat is a boring, stupid and pedestrian writer.
