The director said that he wanted to make a Scorsese inspired movie. He just made a carbon copy of a Scorsese movie. With Phoenix in the lead instead of De Niro. On top of the fact that you were right at the beginning. Who needs a Joker origin story? The mystery is part of what makes him such an effective evil villain. I love how they played with the joker not having an origin story in The Dark Knight. But this guy is totally unoriginal. He just copied off of everyone else's creativity. I have heard that this is the best version of Joker & Harley Quinn in all of media, ever. Here is to hoping this is true an that the movie turns out to be good!
This movie (if it's good) will be successful due to word of mouth from the 1st week viewing. I'm a major DC fan and looooved the first movie. I had a wtf moment when I heard it was a musical but after thinking how the first one was from Jokers perspective, I'm now excited for the film. I'm just hoping it's not a bad movie. Going back to Furiosa, that movie was not a bad film and I feel it got caught up in the culture war. It was bashed for being a girl boss movie so I never saw it in the theatre but bought it digital and LOVED it. It's more Road Warrior than girl boss movie, and did horrible in the theatre. So if a movie has low sales doesn't mean it will be bad or determines it's quality, but here's hoping it's good and in the longrun...if good...is successful. I've been wanting bat-shit crazy Harley and Lady Gaga is looking like the Harley we've been waiting for.
It wasn't the culture war that hurt Furiosa. Most audience goers are not hard core movie fans following movie critic youtubers and have no idea about a culture war. People didn't go see Furiosa because no one wanted a Furiosa movie in the first place and are fatigued with female action movies.
@JurassicRod Well the fatigued with female action movies is part of the culture war though. Furiosa isn't even about her as much as it's more of the war between Amoron Joe, and the other warlord. That's why I said it wasn't a girl boss movie after watching it. I thought the same before I saw it.
I believe interest in this film stared to decline when it was announce that this would be a musical. People who enjoyed the first movie don't believe that a musical fits the narrative of Arthur Fleck. Even if you're going to use that part as a reflection of Arthur and Harley's shared delusion, it still doesn't fit what we saw in the first film.
I like musicals and I honestly liked the concept. Kinda sad that I'm hearing bad things about it already... it was a strange concept, but imo it could've been good. What a waste.
I wasn't interested in the first one. I finally watched it once if left theaters and I didn't care for it. Once they announced a sequel as a musical, I REALLY had no interest in it.
I’m tired of the multiverse crap. Studios need to choose only ONE universe and make medias about it. Otherwise it will have 3 multiple Batmen and Jokers and 5 wolverines and 10 Spidermen to focus on. People will lose interest in all of them.

Im old enough to remember Warner Bros pulling things like this since the Richard Donner era Superman films I'm sure many of you heard the "Parents hated the raunchiness" excuses made both by Columbia/WB when it came to why The Og Ghostbusters, Tim Burton's Batman and the first live action TMNT film But this is all a pr stunt, parents DID not care about any socalled adult themes in the films, they still took the kids to these films its why they were successful What happened was the companies wanted to "maximize profits" and felt if they went socalled more "kid friendly" theyd make more money off merchandise..this is why they had people pushing this without showing a single family or parents calling these movies out And the Ghostbusters film was NOT marketed at kids it was marketed at young college kids and the late Ivan and Harold admitted this several times, kids just gravitated towards it and it became a mega hit Sony and Warner Bros have a bad track record with this and have for years and I don't think it will get any better because they'll just bring in the same out of touch suits The saving grace is that people aren't falling for the BS anymore
Who the hell thought this was good idea to make our super villian a fukn singer yea we accepted his weird dancing, so what they going to do sing fight in gotham 😅😅😅 dance fight 😂😂😂 other villains getting an song opening with there entrance this us so stupid 😅😅😅
I hope Joker 2 is the biggest flop in recent history. ... as it's a film that was intentionally made to antagonise, mock and repel, it's original audience.
2:58 Not only that. They poured 4 times the amount of money into this thing. Than they did the 1st one. The 1st one cost something like 50 mil and the sequel is like 200 mil. How?! The 1st hour takes place in Arkham. The rest is a courtroom drama. Wtf is happening with this movie?
I just don’t think the appetite for a movie like a musical Joker 2 is there. It’s only been five years but it feels so much longer down to what those years contained. Thing is, the box office may well do well as you have LG fans & curious fans of the first movie etc However I don’t think it’s even appropriate - the first film worked alone but barely stood up to a second watch if you had connection or even knowledge of the films it was referencing (i do like it, but very casually). Gaga is painful to watch ‘acting’ & I don’t want a Harley Quinn album. I just.. don’t. Side note I wish Hollywood specifically would just leave a lot of these stories alone for a while - between Gaga and Margot Robbie I feel like they’re attempting to speedrun bland-ifying everybody’s old favourites. Edit: Apparently people were falling asleep in Joker 2? Ironic.
8:09 one more thought! Therein lies the issue with using a known character like Joker for things outside canon! A Joker musical makes absolute sense in canon! We HAVE Joker songs! However, this one is so removed from that Joker that you can’t suddenly retcon all the character building they didn’t do and hope to appeal to the core fanbase for these characters. (Thank you for your takes btw, I felt very much in the minority with my opinions regarding Harley Quinn & various other opinions we align on!)
The first one making a billion dollars was ridiculous, and I don't expect that to happen again. But I do think the movie will be fine. It's not going to flop. It's only September. The only thing I think this says is that pre-sales aren't going to matter as much as they used to.
The movie cost 200 million. It needs to make at least 600 million to be considered a success. If the budget had been half of that, I'd say you'd be right. But the risk of it being a failure is very real this time.
WoW.....marketeers having fun with numbers. Who Knew?🤔 They've really mastered the art of Putting Lipstick On A Pig.......then getting you to kiss it.😚
HQ should be with Creeper. The guy would have been the best character to rehabilitate HQ, and he likes it rough. But DC is just another Star Wars and Mortal Kombat. It suffers from creative bankruptcy because it caters to the progressive regime.

DC movies suck just like the Marvel movies. But i love the old DC and Marvel comic books
I didn't saw any trailer neither know the fil was released.
I saw a lot of people talkinmg about borderlands and the crow but this is my first video about the joker 2.
when will u stop being mcu fangirl
I understand your feelings way more now and it's understandable. DC just can't get it right and it's annoying at this point
hell yeah it’s going to bomb dude’s not the Joker and have you seen the trailer it’s trash what’s good about it and i didn’t like the first one or the Batman
Almost like making a movie made for men. And making it a musical was a bad idea
Why is Joker only for men? My sister really enjoyed the first one.
This Joker is NOT the Batman Joker. There's too much of an age difference. Maybe this Joker inspires the Batman Joker later.
But it makes me wonder why make a movie marketed as the origin story of the joker if it isnt even about the real joker🤦🏾. Like whats even the point
@@Blazer9970 because it's what the real Joker would do.
I liked Joker but it was never about the DC/Batman Joker for me and even no alternate universe version. It was a character study and movie experiment with a marvelous actor using tropes from comics, Taxi Driver, etc. I will not see Joker 2 because I hate almost all musicals. I think this once again is a movie with a too small target group for its very large budget.
Even if it bombs, I predict a Joker 3.
Todd already said it's not happening and why TF would they force a joker 3 if this forced sequel bombs ☠️ it's just wasting more money
From what I heard it's not a Joker 3 but a Har "lee" quinn movie in that universe. Really sets her up to be the Joker of that world.
@@aurahoneydew9607 I'm pretty sure tod Philips is smart enough to know that if this movie flops a solo lady gaga Harley Quinn movie would be an absolute disaster especially at the box office ☠️ after this I think he's done with this universe.
Joker 3 will be an animated film, made by the people who made Steven's Universe and it will have a prolonged segment calling the audience "Incels" and it will be scored by Ukulele music.
That's how I felt about Batman Caped Crusader. Made me RUN back to the original Animated series. No regrets.
First we got Barbie Quinn, now we get Hobo Quinn, maybe sometime in the future we can get Harley Quinn 😆😆😆😅
😂
I feel like Terrifier 3 is gonna beat Joker 2 in the box office as the best scary clown movie! 😂🤣
100% true. My most anticipated movie of the year
A sequel to a movie that only made 15 million worldwide? Not a chance. Terrifier is an exclusively cult franchise. Even if Joker 2 bombs, it's still not cratering to a double digit million dollar box office worldwide.
@@windowsVD Terrifier 3 will probably make multiple times it's budget back. Joker 2 seems less likely. That's the difference.
@@peterfrost377 Sure, but that's not really "beating" it at the box office when it has the advantage of having literally 1% its budget.
@@windowsVD Something making multiple times it's budget back is more important imo. RK: Origins 2012 didn't make alot of money compared to films like Man of steel but still made more than enough with nice reviews from fans. All this led to amazing sequels that eventually gave their lead a great send off.
Nobody wanted a musical
Who the hell cares about Joker? Art, the Clown looking to splatter house with his sequel premiering same month. Terrifier 3 has the budget and story in play based on the trailer. Get excited for the necessary installment.
Many fans lol
I was fine with the 2019 Joker just being a one and done type deal. When the sequel was announced I was like 'Okay, I'll probably check it out' but when I found out it was a musical any interest I had immediately plummeted. If the word of mouth is good I might see it but as it stands, I'm not interested in seeing this movie!
Im old enough to remember Warner Bros pulling things like this since the Richard Donner era Superman films
I'm sure many of you heard the "Parents hated the raunchiness" excuses made both by Columbia/WB when it came to why The Og Ghostbusters, Tim Burton's Batman and the first live action TMNT film
But this is all a pr stunt, parents DID not care about any socalled adult themes in the films, they still took the kids to these films its why they were successful
What happened was the companies wanted to "maximize profits" and felt if they went socalled more "kid friendly" theyd make more money off merchandise..this is why they had people pushing this without showing a single family or parents calling these movies out
And the Ghostbusters film was NOT marketed at kids it was marketed at young college kids and the late Ivan and Harold admitted this several times, kids just gravitated towards it and it became a mega hit
Sony and Warner Bros have a bad track record with this and have for years and I don't think it will get any better because they'll just bring in the same out of touch suits
The saving grace is that people aren't falling for the BS anymore
Who the hell thought this was good idea to make our super villian a fukn singer yea we accepted his weird dancing, so what they going to do sing fight in gotham 😅😅😅 dance fight 😂😂😂 other villains getting an song opening with there entrance this us so stupid 😅😅😅
I hope Joker 2 is the biggest flop in recent history.
... as it's a film that was intentionally made to antagonise, mock and repel, it's original audience.
They gave it a dumb name. Snd a made it a musical ? Nah nah
Imagine if instead of naming their famous Joker story "The Killing Joke." DC named the comic something like "Les Miserbales." This is so f-ing stupid!
Haven't supported WB since they decided to keep Amber Nd Ezra.
3:44 I just love how The Marvels have set a standard for Flops.
WAY TO GO BRIE!😅
I just don’t think the appetite for a movie like a musical Joker 2 is there.
It’s only been five years but it feels so much longer down to what those years contained.
Thing is, the box office may well do well as you have LG fans & curious fans of the first movie etc
However I don’t think it’s even appropriate - the first film worked alone but barely stood up to a second watch if you had connection or even knowledge of the films it was referencing (i do like it, but very casually).
Edit:
Apparently people were falling asleep in Joker 2?
2 reasons i won’t watch this nonsense of a movie :
1. lady gaga
2. it being a fucking musical
The first one making a billion dollars was ridiculous, and I don't expect that to happen again. But I do think the movie will be fine. It's not going to flop.
It's only September. The only thing I think this says is that pre-sales aren't going to matter as much as they used to.
I think it'll make 500-600 million.
The movie cost 200 million. It needs to make at least 600 million to be considered a success. If the budget had been half of that, I'd say you'd be right. But the risk of it being a failure is very real this time.
Musicals beling on Broadway, not in empty cinemas.
WoW.....marketeers having fun with numbers.
Who Knew?🤔
They've really mastered the art of Putting Lipstick On A Pig.......then getting you to kiss it.😚
the dancing is not the problem.. the first joker had great scenes with the joker dancing .. SINGING is the problem. how dumb can that idea be
DC needs to go back to Movies that follow the Same Storylines as their Comics.
A Musical like Foley A Doo which is Aimed at Normies just doesn't work.
Its still crazy we have individual Joker and Batman movies, where they'll likely never meet.
HQ should be with Creeper. The guy would have been the best character to rehabilitate HQ, and he likes it rough. But DC is just another Star Wars and Mortal Kombat. It suffers from creative bankruptcy because it caters to the progressive regime.
You’re talking pre-sales 3 weeks out?
I liked the first Joker movie and yeah a sequel isn't necessary but it's clearly the studio wanting a cash grab. People don't like the first Joker movie for not being comic book accurate when Batman 89 isn't even comic book accurate either.
