In India, we would never throw the leaves into the compost. Such a waste!. We would select the tender leaves, chop them up fine and stir fry them along with the kohlrabi. And peeling the vegetable with a potato peeler is so much easier.
i just learned about this vegetable (kohlrabi) this year and this is my first time cooking this vegetable. Every year i'll have holiday in Germany n always like to learn a few new dishes. Glad to find this video.. THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing. Very clear instruction n interesting video too. Just like to share : i added a little bit of 'muskat' (nut meg) just for the taste as advised by some German friends. I really love this vegetable.
I really enjoyed this video. Seemed a bit slow, though I rather liked it. You spoke all the way through, no uncomfortable silences. You showed your knowledge of the pan, the veg, the difference in technique. I loved it. Very difficult to get through a live cooking session. I'd love to see more.
I just wanted a vague idea of cooking time,as i've never prepared kohlrabi. This helped;Thank you. But...Why would you put the greens in the compost? That makes no sense!
keptyeti , remember the story of Rapunzel? In the order version, the witch gains custody of Rapunzel by virtue of Rapunzel's mother craving the witches cabbage lol. She would have her husband sneak into the patch to steel the cabbage and was caught. The witch promised all the cabbage her cravings could handle if, when the child was born, it would be hers.
Even so the video is too long to keep most people interested, and there are unnecessary parts that many other chefs skip on their videos, while he fills them with what seems to be pointless babbling. A good teacher says what is needed in the right amount of time.
Being such a pro yourself, why are you here? What do you suppose the percentage of humans in usa that have absolutely no idea how to cook or turn on a burner or boil water on a burner? Move along, start videos and teach the rest of us.
So many mistakes i don't know where to start. his pan wasn't hot before he started and placed in the butter. Don't use butter. use a neutral oil or olive oil. Cook at a hihher heat . I will stop.
Clearly this man is a teacher as well as a chef. He really explains things in detail which is helpful for newer cooks. Very interesting videos!
Love the explanations. I’ve been cooking for decades and learned some new things. First time I’m cooking kohlrabi.

would you recommend adding protein, e.g., ground chicken or ground pork or ground beef?
Why waste the leaves and stems?
Wow that's a lot of salt.
Sautee it in pearl red onion garlic.
I wouldn't throw out the leaves tho. It's still good to eat.
Were can I find me one of them fancy cookin' suits?
Somehow the colours of your set and everything white and grey makes me think of you as a food ''doctor'' lol
Is it ok to eat stolen kohlrabi?

Can't let it go to waste!
If you are going to comment negatively learn to spell. It is "you're" for "you are."

Working in the meat industry, it gets me why people use glass or ceramic cutting boards????? Knives dont like it.
It destroys the edges on knives.
It is called fried. Don't use French word when there is English one.

those are some teeny tiny kohlrabis...
Yes, however, they tend to be the best, especially coming along with that fresh looking leaves
Seems like a lot of waste. As a vegetable I mean.
Those greens should be et! I would have removed more of the root base as well because it looked woody.
too much work and at the end nothing to eat.
cut the root the round thing into small pieces add lemon and salt thats it eat it raw
Lost me when you said to add butter. What a shame.
So much waste!
5 mins prep?Too long.
