After the episode where Tweek and Craig got tricked into fighting everyone was all "Hey! A gay ship that isn't Kyman, Style or Bunny!" And so everyone started throwing creek into the fandom. (I ship them so hard:))
When I first saw the art of them on Pinterest I was like "Huh, interesting." then I saw the episode and was like "Okay, yeah, this looks adorable." Then I saw Put it Down and played Fractured But Whole, and I was sold on this ship. I really hope future episodes have more of them together.
See this is why I love South Park. They put the right amount of satirical spin on pretty much any topic and this is one if the best examples. Went to make fun of it but in the process showed both sides of its nature. I love yaoi as much as the next chick, but we don't need to litter the series with it. This episode covered the topic with the proper balance of seriousness and satire. Done. Still my favor episode to date. Bravo.

I'll say there IS one good show that does it right. The Owl House. It definitely wasn't out when you posted this comment, but it's actually pretty nice. It's got good representation from someone who actually gives a shit, bi flags everywhere, a lesbian kiss on-screen, the main character Luz actually audibly ADMITTING to bring bi... It's sad it got axed by Disney. The season finale is actually coming out today as of me writing this, and I think it'll be the last. Shame good things never last. Just glad South Park has had a good (ongoing, even) run.
Why is everyone saying that Trey and Matt were actively trying to make fun of shippers? They are clearly ok with it. They think is weird but cool. They were making fun of shows that use gay characters as tools to demonstrate how progressive and open minded they are.

Just before the climax at the end of the episode Mr Makey tells Kenny "I know that we forget about you sometimes, but you are a really nice kid..." Etc. I think that was Matt and Trey's way of saying that they do like Kenny as a character, they just forget to use him in plots because he doesn't speak. But because they addressed this and have included Kenny frequently last season, I hope that's a sign they are going to weed him into the show more now.

Later in the episode where Tweek is freaking out about North Korea (from season 21 I think) they act like an actual couple even in private.
This episode was by far my favorite. It was fucking hilarious yet cute at the same time. They definitely made the episode exceptionally well. I loved that they used actual art people made for them.
Matt and Trey seem really cool. They didn't want to steal the rights to the real yaoi art, but most franchises would argue that it was their property featuring their characters and would use their power to push around these individuals.
I was laughing so hard at this episode because I remember encountering yaoi when I was 11. Only now do I realise that Yaoi is basically girls creeping on gay couples the same way guys do with lesbians.

That may or may not work. Considering there's been a one off relationship that was totally forgotten at the end of an episode (Kenny and his second girlfriend in "The Ring"), it could work. However it still seams a bit odd of a concept in my opinion, and it might distract from other things.
as a shipper i didn't ever feel like they were "mocking" shipping or yaoi, it just felt like poking fun 😂 showing how silly it can be but also appreciating how fans are inspired by their characters. the episode wasn't condescending at all
The entire episode was about how fans fetishes override reality. It even showcased how a little boys can be sexually confused by being overly supported into something he knows nothing about and how kids are indoctrinated into being gay by their own communities rather than authentically coming out. Tweak and Craig go into a deep depression because they don't know if they are gay and even had a chance to really think about it. Which is why it tries to end by saying it's ultimately their own choice who they date. Why do you think South Park has so many Anti-Trans episodes? You live in fantasy land if you don't think you're the butt the joke.
That's awesome of them to acknowledge that it wouldn't be correct to put up fan art without giving the appropriate credit. I've been going through a lot of the recent commentaries for the new seasons and I feel like that might be the coolest thing I heard them say.
I'm really glad that "nowadays" they aren't sexualized anymore, in the Tweek x Craig episode we could see everything they talked about (mocking some shows and artists who sexualize them), but then in Put it Down they're just a normal couple, acting like kids would (sort of, at least), just like Wendy and Stan!
People had loved to ship them before it was canon, and when fans find out something they say or do is actually canon, most of them usually freak out and get super excited. The Tweek x Craig actually reminded me of a story I saw on Facebook that was called “what’s the longest running joke in your friend group?” One guy posted how he and his best friend were dared to play ‘gay chicken’, just over a decade later and they were looking into adoption for their first child as a married couple and ended with the quote “if he doesn’t stop soon I’m convinced he might actually be gay”
They did such a crazy good job with tweek and craig. I really appreciate Craig in the ep saying he cant be someone hes not then his dad telling him he loves him no mater what wich if you aren't gay you dont understand how fucking important that is to a young gay kid. After that Craig is like "Ok I think I might be ready to admit this is kinda how I've been feeling."

See this is why I love South Park. They put the right amount of satirical spin on pretty much any topic and this is one if the best examples. Went to make fun of it but in the process showed both sides of its nature.
I love yaoi as much as the next chick, but we don't need to litter the series with it. This episode covered the topic with the proper balance of seriousness and satire. Done. Still my favor episode to date. Bravo.

I'll say there IS one good show that does it right. The Owl House. It definitely wasn't out when you posted this comment, but it's actually pretty nice. It's got good representation from someone who actually gives a shit, bi flags everywhere, a lesbian kiss on-screen, the main character Luz actually audibly ADMITTING to bring bi... It's sad it got axed by Disney. The season finale is actually coming out today as of me writing this, and I think it'll be the last. Shame good things never last. Just glad South Park has had a good (ongoing, even) run.

@@ashleymariee6143 I think they are going to now! He had an episode focus on him in season 22 (scoots) where they subtly addressed not using Kenny through Mr Makey. Just before the climax at the end of the episode Mr Makey tells Kenny "I know that we forget about you sometimes, but you are a really nice kid..." Etc. I think that was Matt and Trey's way of saying that they do like Kenny as a character, they just forget to use him in plots because he doesn't speak. But because they addressed this and have included Kenny frequently last season, I hope that's a sign they are going to weed him into the show more now.

Even at the end of Tweek X Craig they get back together and it looks like they didn't do it only for the others in the town, but also for themselves. Later in the episode where Tweek is freaking out about North Korea (from season 21 I think) they act like an actual couple even in private.

This episode was by far my favorite. It was fucking hilarious yet cute at the same time. They definitely made the episode exceptionally well. I loved that they used actual art people made for them.
Matt and Trey seem really cool. They didn't want to steal the rights to the real yaoi art, but most franchises would argue that it was their property featuring their characters and would use their power to push around these individuals.
I was laughing so hard at this episode because I remember encountering yaoi when I was 11. Only now do I realise that Yaoi is basically girls creeping on gay couples the same way guys do with lesbians.

It's very cool that the thing that held them back from incorporating all the real world yaoi was the time it would take not to fuck over the artists.
Tweek has always been my favorite character and Craig has always been my second favorite... This was before I even knew Creek was a thing and I'm not much of a shipper so it's not something I ever thought about. I absolutely love this development, but it does suck because now when I tell people Tweek and Craig are my 2 favorites, they just assume I only like them because of Tweek x Craig. That may or may not work. Considering there's been a one off relationship that was totally forgotten at the end of an episode (Kenny and his second girlfriend in "The Ring"), it could work. However it still seams a bit odd of a concept in my opinion, and it might distract from other things.
as a shipper i didn't ever feel like they were "mocking" shipping or yaoi, it just felt like poking fun 😂 showing how silly it can be but also appreciating how fans are inspired by their characters. the episode wasn't condescending at all
The entire episode was about how fans fetishes override reality. It even showcased how a little boys can be sexually confused by being overly supported into something he knows nothing about and how kids are indoctrinated into being gay by their own communities rather than authentically coming out. Tweak and Craig go into a deep depression because they don't know if they are gay and even had a chance to really think about it. Which is why it tries to end by saying it's ultimately their own choice who they date.

The Tweek x Craig actually reminded me of a story I saw on Facebook that was called “what’s the longest running joke in your friend group?” One guy posted how he and his best friend were dared to play ‘gay chicken’, just over a decade later and they were looking into adoption for their first child as a married couple and ended with the quote “if he doesn’t stop soon I’m convinced he might actually be gay”
