This video is innately satisfying to watch. The quality, the care, the precise way all the employees work is fantastic. Not to mention the wonderful glow of the familiarity of the incandescent bulb. Oh how I miss it.
I genuinely cannot believe these lights are waaay cheaper than LED bulbs after seeing this video. I'm an early adopter for CFLs, LEDs, to the latest smart lighting; but the last 2 years I've been collecting these especially ornamental incandescent whenever I found one. Nothing beats the crisp white light at its highest setting and that warm glow at its lowest..even the latest smart filament led can't reproduce this effect.. The closest was philips warm glow but it has been discontinued for some time now.

Working with higher wattage halogen bulbs in the past, I remember that touching the glass with bare skin reduces the life of the bulb due to uneven heating. It seems that touching the filament with bare hands would have similar issues. I wonder what the longevity of these bulbs is compared to ones made in fully automated factories.
That is a problem with quartz halogen lamps due to skin oils devitrifying the quartz envelope. These soda lime glass envelope lamps do not have that problem.
This factory makes light bulbs that were been discontinued by Toshiba and other major producers. Some customers still want to buy these -- otherwise, of course, everybody is using more modern light sources. This is not a very high volume manufacturing and the equipment probably dates back to 1958. Before then, this company was making the bulbs without using machines. They began production in 1945.
Incandescent bulbs have a long history over 200 years. Now they are much less efficient than other types of electric lighting. However, this process is very impressive👍

I was thinking that too! They have got to be incredibly expensive compared to LED bulbs or even incandescent bulbs produced in a more automated factory.
Such companies receive subsidies from the government to keep jobs. False humanism demands that people do whatever they want, regardless of the usefulness of their work, at the expense of all other tax-paying people. For example, in the United States there was a period when the products of automobile factories immediately after leaving the assembly line went for recycling just to save jobs.
The real truth is far less interesting than what others are posting. The incandescent look has become a desired aesthetic for people who want their interior design of their property to have a certain rustic or industrial feel. That is why they are still made. Vintage aesthetic.
The air is pumped out through the stem and inert gas is put in on the machine at 4:40. (The stem is the long straight tube going down -- more clearly seen at 2:28). The gas inside is at low pressure, and because of that it glows (5:53) when high voltage is applied to check for leaks. The gas fill is at low pressure so that when the lamp gets hot during use, it would not over-pressurize. The stem is sealed off on the machine at 5:00. Gas helps to prevent evaporation of tungsten from the filament. With vacuum the lamps do not last as long. One can see at 7:55 another leak check, and the gas inside of the bulbs glows again.

I think the last check with the high voltage electrode is made for control of that the inert gas is still inside (and gives a purple glow). Very interesting to watch, none the less…
The filaments would burn up if air was left in the lamps. These use a nitrogen/argon mix (both of which glow purple when ionized). The argon is to reduce thermal convective losses to the gas fill. The nitrogen is to drive up the fill gas ionization potential so that there will not be parasitic discharges across the filament and lead in wires, which could do anything from damage the filament due to ion sputtering to causing catastrophic parallel arcing that could destroy the lamp. The gas mix is probably 85% argon/15% nitrogen as these are 220V lamps which need more nitrogen to prevent discharging. 100V to 130V lamps can get away with 95% argon/5% nitrogen and are thus a bit more efficient.
not that much difference, 100w incandescent vs 40w CFL light, plus the old bulbs produce pure and accurate color light with 99% CRI not fake white or blue light that hurts the eyes and gives wrong colors inside the house. also remember that what is not used to produce light is producing heat which is good for colder climates since it's not wasted. humans need to produce more energy in bigger and better ways not less, we never worked well with tight resources.

Super! And in Romania it's hard to find incandescent light bulbs. But it seemed like it was a more pleasant light than the cold light of the current LED bulbs. It was as if it gave you the feeling of the warmth of the light. But what to do! Energy saving wins.
You can make an LED lamp with any spectrum you want. And most importantly - it will work not for tens of hours, as shown in the video, but for tens of thousands. Plus, it will not be in vain to heat the surrounding space - such lamps have an efficiency of less than a third.

高温になるような環境や電圧の高い地域だとLEDはすぐ壊れてしまうので白熱灯はまだまだ必要です。

I think these are very high quality lamps, like everything made by Japanese hands)
That is a problem with quartz halogen lamps due to skin oils devitrifying the quartz envelope. These soda lime glass envelope lamps do not have that problem.

How do you put gas into a light bulb? Nitrogen I guess?
No gas - vacuum.

We in America make these bulbs also. But there’s a push to using LED. So we’re buying Chinese bulbs and shutting down American plants.
And the 10,000 hour bulb life they sell us on is definitely not true.

Incandescent bulbs are no longer a viable option. LED bulbs are the way to go, until something better comes along!
Depends on what you are doing. LEDs are not a universal illuminant.

Untuk bagian kendaraan bermotor masih banyak diperlukan lampu pijar, apalagi kendaraan tahun tua yg masih berfungsi sampai sekarang
