Virginia Gregg was such a versatile actress! She played so many different personality types on this show. I know it’s always gonna be a good episode when she’s in it.
She was a member of Jack Webbs acting troupe. She was in both the radio and TV versions of Dragnet as well as the 1954 theatrical version. Besides that 1954 film also had Herb Vigran, Harry Bartell, Stacy Harris, Georgia Ellis, Olan Soule.
I always said Joe Friday could have really ripped into that woman, describing what would have happened to the two career officers if her alleged misconduct was acted on. A good long speech about what it took to make those two police officers, the dedication Bivens and Malone put into their careers, and how society that already has suspicions of police would only be worse thanks to her perjury
@@gplunk They should have charged someone like that. She was perfectly willing to waste the departments time, frame those men and ruin their lives and careers and very probable jail time, just to cover her theft. If that is not a serious crime I don't know what is. Just because it was found out does not lessen the offense.
Around where I live now; drug addicted thieves are let off with a slap on the wrist, if that, assuming they even get arrested. Very sad times for any real justice.
It kind of seems like if Agnes didn't file the complaint against the officers she could have just pocketed the money, thrown out the dead guys account book and nobody would have been any the wiser...
Virginia gregg she was like a bad rash she was all over the TV screen back in the 50s 60s and 70s but she was a very good act actress one of the best you ever see!!!!!!!!!
Why would she make trouble over the $800 when she had gotten away with it? But for her complaint, there would have never been any investigation. Nobody knew or cared.
I never did notice until I read your comment a few minutes ago! If there was a "Dragnet Bloopers" DVD, I'm sure that spelling incident would be on it! 😂
This is a baffling episode. Why would she file a report against the officers when all she had to do was keep quiet? I mean she already had $800.00 and if she had kept quiet nothing would have happened.
Elroy had no family nearby... But some of his family could have come out west who knew he had the $1K and demanded to know why the coroner only received $200. She covered her tracks to make sure it looked like someone else stole the money. 😉
I don't really understand what's going on here, it seems like she gets way with keeping the money (which was in her possession to begin with) if she simply doesn't file a false claim that the officers stole it.
@@jameswilliamjohnson Herb Vigran, Olan Soule, Stacy Harris, Georgia Ellis, Len Wayland, Lou Brown, Harry Bartell, Virginia Gregg, Art Ballinger, Clark Howett, Kent McCord, Martin Millner, Bobby Troup, were connected with Jack Webb.
The defroster was a STANDARD FEATURE of that automobile model, which was sold all over North America. In other words: It would not have been possible to purchase that vehicle WITHOUT the defroster.
Sulcata Tortises that live in LA need heating lamps and pads in their outdoor houses to take the chill off, so needing a defroster isn't much of a surprise.
Never like to see an actor or an actress playing multiple characters in the SAME tv series, Because it RUINS the creditability of the show making in this case Sergeant Friday and Officer Gannon look unintelligent. Playing a different character in another TV Show is OK, However playing different characters in the same tv series multiple times looks bad for the series.

She's very pretty, too.

@@frankdenardo8684 I believe they were called the MARK V11 players ( or something like that)

@@frankdenardo8684 Yes I know, but along the line they became the MARK V11 players or troup.

One of my favorite TV shows.
Virginia Gregg, my all-time unparalleled fave!!!!!!
was bad enough she stole but to frame someone else...
Why is it the epilogue mentions nothing about the woman and her perjury?
Guess it didn't go to trial; since she was found out, and the dept. opted not to press charges....

Then it couldn't be dramatized into a TV-story.
She needed the cops to take the fall so L.A. would pay for his burial while she pockets $800.
Yep got too excited over da bucks wonder if hag did time for her BS

Anyone else notice they spelled received r-e-c-i-v-e-d? The one she signed was spelled correctly, the other one was misspelled. See 22:20 mark.

yes but i can bot believe they let that woman get away with it that she will not face a jail time for it,
I would just like to know why she went to such trouble to lie when she had already stolen the $800...
What about the complaint lady should have got 14 years in jail
Always keep recipes.
Not cooking "recipes." Rather: "receipts."
Always keep resumés, too. You never know when you'll have to resume your job search.
Oh no....Virginia Gregg striles again!
Why wasn't the dame charged?
Dept. opted not to press charges; because they needed Virginia in the next episode....
Too funny!!
My thought exactly! I rewinded 4 times!!! 😡
I wonder if Ms. Emerson was related to carolyn bryanth?

What happened to the scammer lady?? I guess Friday summed it up near the end.

The Lady was in numerous episodes...
Jack Webb had the same group of actors that he used throughout the series.

Why would a car in southern California need a defroster ?
The defroster was a STANDARD FEATURE of that automobile model, which was sold all over North America. In other words: It would not have been possible to purchase that vehicle WITHOUT the defroster.
It gets cold enough in So. Calif. during the winter; esp. at night, that you could need one....
