This almost sounds like a Guard Bonus mechanic rather than stun canceling. In the slow motion clip, it seemed like the invuln started while you were still shielding. In most cases you can't roll. You can't stop shielding at all because you're still in shieldstun from the previous hit of rapid jab when the next one hits your shield.
So for people like inkling who can lock you in shield from a good distance away is it better to roll the opposite direction or does it just depend on where they catch you? ...also never change your outro gimz
If you’re talking about splattershot, roll away if you can. If you let go of shield, you immediately can be punished by down tilt or grab(grab only works if they’re close enough). Rolling towards inkling at that point results in you getting inked anyway, and gives Inkling more punish options. Rolling back makes you almost entirely unpunishable, since the only way Inkling can beat you out of that option is by reading you. For rapid jab, it’s the same as the other rapid jabs; just roll in asap.
