      I own the 22 XR M. There is no issue with the low end torque. This is the character of this i4 engine. Yes you can improve it by headers and mapping, but as it is, it is fine. This engine comes to life after 4K rpm, turns itself to a rocket after 6-7K rpm. Play with gears and keep it in rev range. I am not sure why everyone wants to make it a twin. This is the beauty and uniqueness of this engine and why I love it over twins or boxers.

    My father owns a 2020 BMW S1000XR in Ice Grey. Sometimes I ride it . The power it has is way more than enough . I believe only a few riders can take full advantage of its STOCK power ... Why tune it for more hp even though we cant even control half of the hp its has? ... Great work you do in every video . Bravo !

    • @BHPUK
      @BHPUK  2 года назад +7

      You make a good point, the top end power is enough for most. The real improvements are the smoothing of the power delivery and the improvements in throttle response as well as the removal of vibrations due to lean factory settings (All Euro 5 bikes run lean to meet emissions standards). The improvements to the ride ability are huge. This is what every rider can feel and take advantage of.
      We are so confident that we can transform your bike that all our remaps come with a 30 day money back guarantee.
      Also a little more power is usually welcome wether we can use it or not 😉

    • @BHPUK
      @BHPUK  2 года назад +2

      We use a DynoJet. This a strong tune. If 172 is too much for you we can leave the max output stock and just tune the bottom end for smoother running and better throttle response.

      @@BHPUK how does BMW feel about going richer or ditching cats? I would think richer would be better for engine longevity but I can see manufacturers looking at it as a way to get out of an expensive warranty claim even if there was no way a tune contributed to some unrelated defect

    • @BHPUK
      @BHPUK  Год назад

      @@dougiequick1 it’s the manufacturer’s legal responsibility to prove the modifications made by the customer have caused the fault before they can invalidate a warranty. Like you said running richer is better for longevity, they’d have a fair task to prove otherwise.

    Can you also set the intake flap to always be open? Is it worth getting the intake flap delete kit?

    • @BHPUK
      @BHPUK  2 года назад +3

      In principle this should not make any more power. I will try to explain why. An engine has to pump air in and exhaust gasses out. At low rpm it needs less air, if you are passing small amounts of air through a large hole the velocity of air flow will decrease, the flaps are there to decrease the aperture size and due to the Venturi effect this actually causes the air to accelerate into the airbox. We have done a few experiments on cars with increasing the intake aperture on the MAF sensor and we actually lost power at low RPM and engine spool up times increased fractionally. At high RPM the larger intakes did make more power. BMW have developed this system to try to give us the best of both worlds. We have removed the flaps on BMW and VAG cars as when the system fails repairs are expensive and owners will opt to delete the system. Back to back dyno testing on cars has never shown an increase in power after the deletion of the flaps.
      It's the same with valve opening. Manufacturers have developed shift cams as having more cam lift at high RPM increases power and having low cam lift at low RPM increases power.
      Hope this helps

    • @lordgibbness
      @lordgibbness 2 года назад

      @@BHPUK interesting reading. I always assumed most of it was noise suppression. For example the e46 CSL had a flap on the huge carbon intake, but in sport mode the rpm at which it opens is reduced from 6k to 3k. When I fitted a carbon airbox on my e46 I actually opted not to install the flap at all.
      I still need to get my s1000r mapped, and just happened to see that bren tuning remove it as part of their stage 2 kit...
