  • Had the opportunity to ride a modified newer generation S1000XR that rides and looks amazing. Unfortunately, the owner wanted something that could also work off-road, so he bought the GS and is now selling the XR.

That screen has a Speedo Angels proctector on it... I can tell by the red tint when the sun shines on it (and they're fitted as standard by my local BMW dealer in the UK). The screen is much easier to read when you peel it off and throw it in the trash!

I am currently riding the S1000XR model 2022, and I am very satisfied.
In 2024 BMW will be marketing the M1000XR and I can hardly wait to see the final specs.
Right now I am very much tempted to buy that new Beamer.

Hi CR , can you please tell me , for wheelies, do you have to switch traction control off, I've just bought XR 1000 2018 ,it has all modes, dynamic pro etc, oh by the way it was yourself that finally convinced me that I needed to buy 1 haha .

I have a 2021 s1000xr and I love it. All the riding I do is sport touring. It's a great bike. I've done wknd trips and 400 mile days on it. With no complaints. I never went the whole headers/ tune route like you said lots of money and for the riding I do its not needed. My bike is basically stock except for a slip on and some other little do dads. Sad part is I heard from my local BMW dealer last wk that for 2024 the s1000xr is slated to be discontinued. It was on a Motorrad list that he was looking at. I couldn't believe it.😢 they are going to release the M XR and that's it. I hope and pray that this is not true. It's such a wonderful bike. Maybe he was looking at the wrong list. 🤔 🙏🙏🙏. Good video.

Hopefully BMW doesn't do away with it, it's a very unique category and in my opinion BMW is the sportier (and cheaper bike) compared to the Ducati.

@@binoyvaliyaparambath5759 that's good to know that they stopped offering low suspension on M sports. I'm 5'6" on a good day so I got the low suspension low seat on my 2021 model. And it helps alot.

I still absolutely love my 2016 XR, but the rear preload motor seized up which took out all of the dynamic stuff so the front end dives really hard now during braking. I can buy a used rear strut for cheap but at this point I'd like to spend a couple thousand dollars on tractive suspension. But at this point I'm almost thinking about upgrading to one of the new Ducati multistrada V4S. It's a tough choice cuz I love the XR and I own an outright and I'll never get my money out of it but...

    • @bklynzman

Sorry to hear about your rear shock. I had mine replaced at about 40k. Is your suspension blinking when you try to adjust the preload?

I'm on 86000 kms on my 2019 model XR now, since may 2020. I just bought a 2009 K1300GT with 23000 kms on the clock, just to use as a winter/bad weather bike, soo I can enjoy my XR for at least 4 to 5 more years.
I wanted a sporty 4cilinder shaft drive with a lot of protection.

The glare on the screen is due to the protective film. Otherwise, even when the sun is at its strongest and shining directly into the dash, it's perfectly visible and I've never had a problem with it.

I have a 16 XR, just hit 87k miles. I wouldn't get the new XR for the reasons you mentioned. However, I would go for the GS. As much as I love the XR and wish BMW came out with an adventure version, that's not the reality.

I'm still firmly in the Gen 1 camp, the Gen 2 is just too watered down, especially in stock form, and the tech and refinements don't justify the price. I do prefer the new looks, but the rear looks "nicer", the Gen 1 is also far more comfy for me, gen 2 reach and seat are a bit meh.

The fact that ur XR seems to be faster than a big mama GS, it doesn't make it a 'turing bike'. U know well that the XR/RR motors can brake anytime in the redline, while the GS motor can't brake. That's why its not 'a Turing bike'. The apples apples and the basket basket. Cheers man
