Such an Extremely 1992 Demo!
People can get the giant sonic spin sprites and use it for mods now.
Jeez this is old.
Where did you find this?
CodenameGamma it was dumped in the future?
When will there be a link for Sonic Mania VS Chat?
S*x memes me: |:) also me: :O
this is the most 90's "Graphic Design is my Passion" thing ever & i love it

Holy shit! I thought we lost this thing for good, it’s a miracle, isn’t it.
@CosmicKirbster Thank goodness cause I love that old school Sonic CD & I never seen this.
I remember everyone thought this had something to do with those cancelled Sega CD ports of Sonic 1 and 2
Donkey Cheese
Maybe the un-Americanized Sonic Sprites are leftovers from those?
@@austinreed7343 ? I'm so confused right now
@@austinreed7343 where i can see that?
I mean to be fair if I was an executive who was made to watch this demo I'd also probably cancel the Sega CD ports of Sonic 1 and 2
WTF?!😨😠CANCELLED!??!
This is the type of demo to say "Brand New CD Rom Technology"
When you drift into sleep after playing Sonic CD and watching old memes.
HA
The music in this demo is actually pretty damn good XD
I'm guessing you can thank the Sound Canvas for that
@@FIXTREME And alesis d4 lmao
You must have a soft spot for employee trainee muzak, cuz that's what this sounds like lol
So that's where those supposed Sonic 2 CD loading screens came from!
This was released just a couple days before I was born. Such a trip to see what things were like when I was an infant. So 90s it hurts
Eggman: spins disc
Sonic: aight i'm boutta head out
Music by Spencer Nielsen, Brian Coburn and yours truly!
Parts of this remind me of the Sonic Mega Collection loading screen for some reason.
Holy shit, they finally got this? I love when we can get our hands on pieces of history like this.
0:10 yo Sonic Adventure used this riff in part of the ending cutscene right as Tikal starts her speech to Chaos
I feel like such a dork bc of how instantly I recognized it lol
Sonic adventure used alot of old soundtracks. Mostly from sonic 3d blast
WHAT!??!
Nope, it's not. You're referring to "EVENT - Goodbye" and it does not use the same notes as the song at that timestamp. While they have a similar style, theyre not the same.

Unearthers getting more active lately.
Remembered seeing these on SonicRetro alot.
November should have four seperate releases of content according to the NES Rom of TCRF's 10th anniversary.
90's were rad not just in the "i miss old retro things" but the accomplishments to tech advancements and crowning moments in tech and gaming!
to the vibe of the 90's was so nice the music compositions of the time too ah yes very 90's! born in 1994 to experienced the NES, SNES and N64 late to early 2000's to very little but the little i did was fricking awesome!
SEGA: Making RUclips Poops before RUclips
lol i thought the same thing
You know what they say, pal, Sega does what Nintendon't...
I've found the weird and interesting side of RUclips
No you've only found cng, normal stuff really
I’ve found the cliche and overused comment section of the video...
Cant get any more 90's than this!
An acid trip from the early 90s in digital form.
The style of this demo is so surreal, I love it!
1:00 this needs to be a meme
think that's where Macarron Chacarron began

I think, the whole demo should be meme.

I remember reading about this tech demo in early '90s video game magazines, but I would have never thought I'd see it in action.
0:10 thru 0:24: In my humble opinion, this few seconds of music should have been the Sega logo theme on their disc-based and digital games onwards into today.
0:38 thru 0:55: Was Sega of America dropping hints of a making a Sega CD adaptation of Cool World!?
1:57 thru 2:05: And for no apparent reason, Sega grants us with a spontaneous appearance of Joe Montana, LOL.
2:49 thru 2:56: As a kid, anticipating the release of Sonic CD, I SO wanted that San Francisco backdrop to be a playable level in the final game.
For 1992, these FMV clips look surprisingly impressive!
0:41
SEGA doin' what Nintendon't
Yeah so funny, the last decades Nintendo was censor, Sony/Sega was cool
Today Nintendo is cool Soyny America is censor (this is why Omega labirinth life/gun gun pixies/Mary Skelter 2 are switch exclusive in west)

Need more good looking women in video games. Too many stupid feminists these days.

@@jaz093 they are acting like woman with big breast wasnt real xD
this whole demo just feels like a shitpost
Holy shit, I remember seeing this in blurry screenshots since forever! I can't believe we actually have the real thing after all these years!
The 90s must've been a trippy era, huh? Glad i was born in '99
Lots of stuff for the CD is coming to light, and it makes me happy ❤
Sonic’s artwork isn’t really Americanized. Was there perhaps some earlier Japanese party involved? And we nearly got a Cool World game on SEGA CD?
I remember that sonic holding the cd. I remember seeing it in lots of sonic cd beta video. But after that I could never find it online again
Wow that sonic is really off model
In my Opinion it looks pretty good just those jumping sprites look really weird
don't you mean off sprite??
No Off model. The people working on this were given a paper with sonic drawings so they could make sonic look right but here is kinda off
Classic Sonic's look wasn't really nailed down until 3. Remember, even Spinball showed him with flat spines sticking off the back of his head.
Like the comics?
This reminds me of the Sonic Wallpapers disc. Cool stuff!
I also can't help but bet amused how even on this this Sonic is immediately followed up by sexy women.
80's fever dream, the movie.
😆
Wow, after I heard about that Sonic 2 for the Sega CD game that got canned, I was wondering if the pictures that were potential images of the game would ever be found. Man learning new things every day can be great sometimes!
Same here. I SO wanted that San Francisco backdrop to be a level in what would become Sonic CD as a kid.
I can't believe after all these years, we finally have this demo!
1:40 i finally found the source of the image
???
Holy crap, I can remember seeing blurry screenshots from magazines with people thinking they were from the Sega CD ports of Sonic 1.
Gotta love that CD Sonic demo and all that "Full Motion Video"
The early 90's in one video.
COOL WORLD, Catwoman licking Batman's face, shy naked Elmer Fudd...
_What_ are you doing, SEGA?
I remember seeing screenshots of this demo in a late ‘92 issue of EGM and getting so pumped for the Sega CD that I immediately stole $50 from the purse of an old friend of my mother’s who was staying at our house over the weekend and together with the $100 or so I’d saved up from not eating lunch at school for a month I went out and bought a Genesis that October with the intention of asking for a Sega CD for Christmas. My evil plan worked and that December 25th I was the proud owner of a Model 1 Sega CD, which was a very impressive beast when coupled with my deviously acquired Model 1 Genesis. However, had I seen this demo in motion back then instead of just still images, I would have laughed at its crap quality and set all my copies of Electronic Gaming Monthly on fire in disbelief that GROWN ASS MEN (the EGM editors) could peddle such garbage to innocent (apart from the stealing $50) young people like myself. I never paid that woman her $50 back and I will probably burn in hell for eternity for it, which sucks because Ed Semrad and Martin Alessi will be burning right there with me and probably still trying to peddle that Sega shite!
This is some /r/confessions level shit.
WTF😨😠😆
This is the cheesiest tech demo ever in a weird way.
Old consoles really fascinate me,including the genesis add ons
I love the aesthetics of this video so much.
This is incredible. Thank you for sharing something this awesome! 💙💙
1:00 That picture that perfectly captures Batman.
1:17 - Something tells me that Sega planned to make a Looney Tunes game for the Sega CD, but the idea never fell through...
I'm also assuming that they were planning to make their own video game adaptation of Cool World as well. Either that, or Sega was experimenting with what we know today as DVD and Blu-Ray technology long before DVDs and Blu-Ray discs were a thing. Speaking of Looney Tunes, I believe an unreleased prototype of a Looney Tunes racing game by Sega for the arcades exists.
They released a Mickey Mouse game for the Sega CD in conjunction with Walt Disney Computer Software and Traveller's Tales (currently owned by WarnerMedia) which is fun to play
@@brandonreina4219: Are you talking about Mickey Mania? If so, that wasn't a game by Sega. It was actually made by pre-PlayStation Sony video game affiliate Sony ImageSoft. It's also wasn't a Sega CD exclusive; it was released on the Super NES and Genesis as well.
@@Loader2K1
What technology did Sega use before DVD and Blu-ray Disc?
@@brandonreina4219: Sega used CD-ROM technology for the Sega CD/32X CD and Saturn, and they used GD-ROM technology for the Dreamcast.
Ah yes, Sonic with my Diskdrive
Thanks for showing. That was quite interesting. :)
I wish this aesthetic was still alive.
this one truly shows the sega cd’s capabilities and pushes it to its limit with all this sprite rotation imo
Batman’s face at 1:00 lmfao
Okay, time to name all the references...
1. Cool World
2. Batman Returns
3. The Big Snooze (Looney Tunes)
4. Joe Montana (I distinctly remember that pose from the Genesis Does commercials)
5. ToeJam and Earl
6. Star Trek: The Next Generation
Honestly, I've seen better homebrew demoscenes.
An very cool DEMO I must say.
First an Fully HD version of that rumor of "Sonic 1 and 2 CD ports" who looks *G o r g o e u s* and... Eggman, who always try to get the CD who Sonic got in Hand somehow.
Then some movies custenes, very good i must say. A perfect way to show Mega CD power.
Next, for surprise...
Toejam and Earl!!
It seems SEGA back un the days threated Tj and Big Earl just like Hedgehog. But for some reason they forgot them. At least we got another game of the saga.
Plus, an beatiful music in the background, makes this DEMO
*a m a z i n g a n d a e s t h e t i c*
I had the Sega CD when I was a young man, now I'm just old and wishing I was still in my 20's. DAMNIT!
I want this as a screensaver. It's just so strange
So that's where that Sonic riding a CD comes from. I've seen that sprite in low quality before and wondered for what exactly it was used originally since it doesn't exist in Sonic CD.
yup I had exactly the same reaction seeing this. I distinctly remember seeing that Sonic with the CD screenshot back in the videogame magazines like EGM around 1992 or so.
I'm more interested by what they're going to release down the line.
TCRF added a Sonic CD v0.02 article, this ought to either be a simple tech demo or a very early working game.
Also quick question: Did they ever use that effect where they scale and move a video window in any of the games? (1:12)
It's a tech demo, they'll show off what they can do but it'll probably never have been used due to it's.. pointlessness.
Also notice the higher quality Sonic spin sprites?
Very cool! Interesting that those Batman Returns FMV clips didn't make it into the final game.
Why does sonic looks very pissed ?
coOl WorLd
AMAZING!😊
I remember seeing stills of this in an issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly back in the day.
1:05 oh hey look it's the sonic movie
1:45 whatever this is, it's meme material. Also I need to here the full version of that Green Hill remix

Woah!!! It's found??!!! Very cool tech demo.😀😀

A blessing from the gods
huh.our paths cross again. cool.
Sega really wanted ToeJam and Earl to be their Zelda back in the 90s, didn't they?
I'm happy.

I miss when games used to be this surreal
...This isn't a game, this is a tech demo. and games weren't surreal during this time
