- For most people, grabbing the mail is a pretty easy part of the day, but hundreds of residents at a South Florida apartment complex are not even getting their mail delivered.

She said there was a Post Office across the street from where she lives. Avoid the drive and the wait and rent a PO Box at the Post Office across the street. Makes things easier for you while the apartment complex gets their crap together.
The amount of money apartments complex get from rent is no excuse on why they can’t pay for a new mailbox.
The Tenants need to get one attorney and file a civil lawsuit against the property management company. At the time of filing there should also be a filing of stop payment to the management company until work is completed and mail service has been restored. I would wager that a judge would see in their favor to halt all payments to the management company and not pay until the service is restored. That the payment be held in trust by the attorney's office so all funds are available once the mail service is restored. The suit should be requesting damages in the affect of reduced rent (credit) for the time the service was not available. Either the property owner or the management company or both are dragging their feet because why do any repairs if they are still getting full payment while the tenants have to endure the hardship. I am sure that the attorney's office would file a separate tort claim against the property owner/management company for their fees.
I really feel badly for this woman. It’s frustrating to wait endless hours for a fix to a mailbox.
and drive 20 minutes every day to a city she shouldn't have to go to, to check mail. because some people like me tend to get at least one piece of important mail 4 times a week
Apartment complex is likely seeking to push the residents out. As usual, the news media didn't ask many questions. Maybe many there are behind on rent. Seems odd they won't replace the mailboxes in a timely manner. It's a tiny job that costs relatively little compared to other routine maintenance. There's more to the story. Hope WSVN takes another look.
You may be getting ahead of yourself . There are too many IFs and speculation but I have a hunch you are right.
Round up all the boxes and the debris and dump it on the mayor's front porch - wake his a-s up to this !
Temporary solutions:
Get a PO BOX, perhaps shared with neighbors.
Have mail forwarded to a friend or relative in the area.
Just a couple thoughts.

You guys need to hit the apartment complex where it hurts. Start spamming those Google and yelp reviews with pictures of the mailboxes until their rating drops to one star
You could bring in temporary mail setup
Slumlords ..I would stop paying rent and have them take me to court to do an eviction
Yeah it's delayed now because I have to wait for permits
Stop whining and get a p.o. box across the street until it's fixed or move.
DO NOT mess with the US postal service and mailboxes. its a federal offense
