I started really paying attention to this guy last year. He’s now my favorite player and I’m not even a Nats fan. Picked up his chrome update rookie for $80 in November. I’d say that was a good purchase
Really enjoyed your video. It's crazy to think that a player has dozens and dozens of rookie cards :) Looking forward to more Rookie Card videos. I learned a lot. Cheers, Julien
Interesting to see this 1 year later. Serious price drops. Picked up several of these right before he was traded. Topps Chrome was 175 raw when this video was created. Picked them up in PSA 10 for that price a year later. SGC 10 around 150. Hope he does well as a Padre. Starting out well though see how Tatis PED impacts.
Crazy I watched your video around a year and a half ago. Prices were about the same. Rewatching since his cards are down. I can get the topps chrome update for $75 now. Crazy. 🤙🏻
I own a 2016 Bowman International Ink orange paper /25 of Juan Soto. So it’s my understanding that is not considered a rookie card right? Are rookie cards more valuable than first cards typically?
I just purchased his Topps Chrome RC Card. I feel that's his iconic rookie card. I was about to buy the Topps Chrome Silver Pack 83 Promo but I felt the Topps Chrome was more paramount than the Silver Pack 83 Promo.
I think you have my favorite sports card channel. Keep it up! Love the videos. Also, have a question for you. I wanna buy Soto, Tatis, and Acuna RC's but I don't know if buying them now would be the best idea. Do you think I can get a better price on them if a wait a little or just buy them now.
Hey Rene I really appreciate that! I appreciate the support you guys all give the channel. I would say that Tatis many be a good buy since his prices have dropped slightly with his injury. Acuna is super hot so it may be worth waiting for a slump over the next month or two. I think that Soto is a great buy right now as well since he is playing well but hasn't had a huge series or two yet thats gotten him into the public's eye like Acuna. I hope that helps!
Sweet. I have a PSA 10 of the Topps Chrome. Nice to see it at the top of the list. I also have a PSA 10 of the Topps Heritage Chrome Purple. Going to hold them in the PC for a long time.
What about Topps on Demand Rookie Outfielders with Soto Acuna Verdugo and Fowler? Print Run of about 400. Or what about the Topps Now card where Soto hits a home run on his first big league pitch seen? Or Dynamic Duals with Soto and Acuna?
I excluded all Topps Now cards because they aren't a major release. I also excluded all Montgomery club (excluding the advent which i included) and Throwback Thursday rookies for that same reason. I mention their exclusion at the beginning of the video. They are great cards though for sure and they have a place in the hobby!
@@scottiebcards2354 Thanks. I understand. I really don't care whether or not they have a place in the hobby because they obviously are selling for $2000
I purchased several Juan Soto archives and heritage rookie cards in February. I’ll probably sell some to cover my initial investment later in the season, and hold several long-term at no cost.
Hey Frank! Thanks for the idea. I will look into a topic like this. It will be hard to predict the next Juan Soto (On base machine) But I can try to predict the next superstar!
Hi, I couldn’t find any other way to contact you but I recently purchased a PSA 10 Bowmans Best Refractor (love it). The pop count is very low compared with Topps Chrome and price point was a bit lower for what I believe to be a more rare card. I have a channel about my collecting/investing activities. This video truly helped me in searching for a Juan Soto RC to add to my collection and I’d like to reference you and this videos help as well as add a link to this video in my description. Let me know if that’s ok with you.
I have the 83 raw I was literally just looking up what it goes for, being I’m a Mets fan I was literally considering selling it.. I’m sure the print run is low because when I got the pack in 2020 it was a $12 pack with 4 cards…
I do like the Bowman Chrome rookies yes! Soto doesn't have any Bowman Chrome rookies from this year (Besides maybe a national event exclusive card that wasn't in packs). He has a Bowman and Bowman chrome prospect card in 2018 but since it isn't his first prospect and not his rookie it doesn't carry a huge premium.
@@scottiebcards2354 glad I did. didn't realize how much it went up in value hahah just copped the red and blue jersey sp of acuna this week for 600 before that guy skyrockets like sotos has
I wonder why people are selling their Soto card's at a very low price. I bought 3 raw and 1 PSA 10 Topps RC. The first one I bought was for $24 the second at $50. Then I bought a PSA 10 with a raw for $160! Got all of them the last few days. He's still productive he's pressing a little chasing pitches he normally would not chase. He leads the league in walks has 12 homer's his RBI not that high neither is his BA but it's Soto. He's just off to semi slow start (see Vlad Jr) it's just a matter of time when he starts hitting like we normally see. I'm a huge Nat's fan I live D.C. try to catch all the games with that being said he's good he'll be alright
That is awesome. That is a great card I bought a BGS 9.5 Bowman Chrome auto back in 2018 for $270 dollars and then I sold it in 2019 for $490 dollars. Biggest mistake of my hobby life haha.
Fred Meyers and Meijer are different stores. Fred Meyers is a store in the Northwest (I am from Idaho) while Meijer is in the North East. Totally get that confusion though.
I’m really surprised you put two unlicensed sets in your top 5. If I were to recreate this list myself, I don’t think any of the unlicensed cards would even crack my top 10. They’re just bad for the hobby because they lead to overproduction and make counterfeiting all that much easier. I normally agree with most of your opinions but that was disappointing.
Thanks for the feedback! I put them in there only because they are selling for substantially more than his other rookies right now. 2018 was a strange year for panini Soto cards since they are all very short printed. On the average player I wouldn't have included them that high but had to to be consistent with pricing and sales data. I TOTALLY get them not being for everyone. Thanks for watching Stephen.
I started really paying attention to this guy last year. He’s now my favorite player and I’m not even a Nats fan. Picked up his chrome update rookie for $80 in November. I’d say that was a good purchase
That was a great purchase! Those have really taken off. Soto's ABs are must watch tv!
Damn right it was! Hold on to that one 👍👍
Awesome video Scott! Keep them coming. I’m working my way through all these Sotos now. Once he gets a MVP under his belt these prices will rise again.
Thanks Bradley, I appreciate it man! I think he has a real shot at that MVP award and if he does win it then his cards could go crazy!
Really enjoyed your video. It's crazy to think that a player has dozens and dozens of rookie cards :)
Looking forward to more Rookie Card videos. I learned a lot.

Hey Julien, I agree. It is so hard to target the top rookie card or two now a days! I am glad that it was helpful. Thanks for watching!

I hope his prices drop so I can pick some up lol
Great video, I hope that you make more of this series!
Hey Sam, I definitely will be. I have one in the works right now!
Great tier breakdown. I remember the top cards being just a few dollars before prices blew up
Right? I wish we could go back in time to those days. There were tons of great deals!
Crazy I watched your video around a year and a half ago. Prices were about the same. Rewatching since his cards are down. I can get the topps chrome update for $75 now. Crazy. 🤙🏻
We need one of these for Acuna!
For sure. He will be the next one I do. Acuna will be a challange since he has so many variants and such. Keep an eye out for next week!
I own a 2016 Bowman International Ink orange paper /25 of Juan Soto. So it’s my understanding that is not considered a rookie card right? Are rookie cards more valuable than first cards typically?
2018 legends In The Making insert. underrated.
Agreed. If rookie inserts make a comeback then I think this one and the bowman's best insert (best performers) will be the most popular.
Great video Scottie :)
Thanks John!
I find myself looking for your tier rankings videos before buying rookies now haha I also believe in Base Cards being the real rookie card.

Both are awesome cards! I am a huge fan of those purple chrome refractors. I think that they have a huge opportunity to grow!
Now that some time has passed how do you feel now about the Select and Prizm?
i think most rank Topps HEritage lower than where it should be.... I think in the long run it will be a GO TO.
I agree. I wish that Heritage rookies were more sought after. I really really enjoy them!

great video. can you do a top 15 of cody bellinger rookies? thanks
For sure! Bellinger would. be a fun one to look at!
Great breakdown!
Thank you! I am glad that it was helpful. Thanks for watching!
Great list and bonus points for the silver pack love!
Thank you! It is a really under appreciated card IMO.
is gleybor torres a bust? i have a heavy PC on the gleybor. whats your take, on him? love the channel🔥🔥🔥
If we go by supply then the topps now rc should make it. But price is lower than you would think but they are still good prices

Jim Kaat got in, bought a few of his cards and rookies in high gradw 20 years ago.
Raw of all of these are now, 3 years later, less than 5.00 each?
I have the #1 Soto and I wish it was still bringing that value. I paid $225 for it I believe and it’s at $100 today
would love something like this for RA Jr
Hey Sergio, Thanks for the recommendation. I will have an Acuna video soon!

what about the 2017 heritage rc?
I have a psa 10 update that I got from a 2 dollar pack and I threw it in a drawer for 2 years I was shocked when it came back a 10

2016 he has a 1st bowman chrome auto I have one they are selling well over 10k a piece
He was in 2016 bowman chrome
He's a good player. I like that advent one!
Same here! I am glad that I picked one up!
can you please do eloy jimenez???
Check out his Topps Legends in the Making. His best Insert IMO 🔥
Very clean looking card! I opened up way too much topps update from that year so I know a lot about those haha.
Can you do one for ohtani?
Fore sure! It may be a few weeks but I will!
What about his bowman first
I love me some retro inserts and classic looking cards.
Same here. I know heritage and archives aren't the most valuable, but they look awesome!
No bowman chrome 1st?
On ebay for me no matter where card is the shipping is atleast $10 do you know why this is? Also most of the time the shipping is $20
I hoarded a lot of Juan Soto rookie autograph cards when he was a rookie.
What happened to all your Juan Soto Rookie Collection, your a Lucky Man having all of them.
The Soto Advent is now $100 raw and $600 in PSA 10. eBay asking price that is.
I bought his hands on waist update SP like a year and a half ago for like 150 bucks hahaha
Fantastic pickup! That is a great card. Those hands on waist sps are awesome. I am kicking myself for not picking one up!
