- Rookie Card Rankings is a series where I take a player and rank their rookie cards from worst to best. This week we will be looking at Mike Trout.
Mike Trout is the best player of our generation and his card prices reflect that. His rookie cards are constantly breaking records and ending up in news articles. Not all of his rookie cards are created equal however, and in this video I will share which are the best to buy from a collecting and investing standpoint.

Just found my old cards from when I was a kid and found the Topps 2011 rookie card looks like it would prob be a 9 or 10 I was shaking 😂😂

Never seen the Prime Cuts... I have a 2012 Topps Triple Treads patch /36 that I snagged for $120 in March.
Yeah the Prime Cuts are some of the rarest and hardest to find trouts! I would love to get one some day.
@@scottiebcards2354 yeah I saw the card on OfferUp and just ask the guy about it thinking it was a sweet card and I wanted to talk about it, when he started talking, he just sort of threw out that I should offer him something, I looked it up or tried to look it up and could only find an autographed version that was selling for like six hundred bucks or sold for like six hundred bucks at one point, so he said he would take 120, I didn't even offer it and I didn't try to haggle or anyting, I jumped right on the deal! I just couldn't believe someone could be that dumb... $120 is a good price for a BASE Trout for 2012, but 1 of only 36 is HUGE!!

Just grabbed a PSA 6 Bowman Draft Trout for $100. Not the best grade but just having a trout rookie is good enough for me

Should have bought the Mini Obak psa 10 for like $50 a couple years ago... that and the MULTIPLE Jon Jones auto rc for $15 some dude was selling... damn..
The Jon jones autos won’t go for anything mma cards carry literally no value unless it’s Conor or khabib . Jon and the never ending steroid saga and him not being able to go 6 months without being arrested

I have that #1 card of trout I found it in an old shoebox. I think I’m gonna hold it until he gets into the HOF
If it was in a shoe box it’s ruined just keep it raw no point in getting it graded . Just put it in one touch for your own personal collection . He also not going to be retiring for probably 8 or 9 more years kid
For some reason I had an itch to buy cards back in 2011. Grabbed a few boxes of update and was lucky enough to get a cognac Trout along with a few base. I had no I idea what they were going to be. Luckily I took care of them better than I did as a kid. Just found 6 Kobe rookies in an old box and five were stuck together. One was in a sleeve.
Also got the itch in 2018 and grabbed a blaster of update and pulled a gold ohtani. That one I really messed up on because I sold it for $30 smh.
Great Vid agree with the rankings. Just curious if you had a 2011 bowman chrome box would you rip of hold? I recently purchased one would love the trout lol I’m unsure
Thanks for watching! That is definitely a high risk high reward box. I would recommend watching a box break or two of the box and see if you would have been happy or not with what the breaker pulled. I always am risk averse when it comes to busting wax as you almost never get what you are looking for, but you may hit big! Let me know what you end up doing and if you hit the Trout!
I did a psa 10 pop comparison for his rcs and also saw that bc draft #101 psa 10 were extremely low on pop. So I proceeded to pickem for rarity but somehow regardless of rarity his update card trumps all in terms of value...

Sounds to me the topps update and bowman Chrome should trade spots. Way too many topps updates graded too. His bowman Chrome may not be as iconic but I give it the #1 spot.
I would say Jeter's rookie in 93 would be 3 and this 4th. Otherwise great video
I've always felt that Trout's second yr card, 2012 Topps Chrome, is terribly under valued.
