    I honestly think Jose Ramirez should be in the 50% tier. He's only 1 year older than Lindor and he's better with the bat. He's accumulated 30.8 war in less than 6 years. He was on pace for a 6 WAR year last year and could've won MVP. He will finish with 5+ WAR this year too. Additionally a lot of the percentile rankings on Baseball Savant show him as just a real quality player all around. Low strikeout relatively high walk guy with 93 percentile in OAA.

    Spot on analysis. This video is exactly how I invest in current players. I don’t do any prospecting and stick to players with at least a 6-7 year track record. I try to buy fairly low pop cards (1000 or less) that are liquid. Baseball Reference is a must. I always look forward to your videos. Keep it up!

    • @Precomo97

      Prospecting is really fun, but man is it hard to justify. It's easy to find rookie cards of guaranteed HOFers for a lot less than guys who haven't even touched a pro ball field.

    • @robertjimenez6737
      @robertjimenez6737 3 года назад

      @@Precomo97 I agree. I can’t see spending a $1000+ on a Bowman Chrome 1st auto on the chance that the player MIGHT turnout to be a HOFer. Those odds are clearly not in our favor and chances are you will lose money. I know it’s fun to prospect, but I’m not wired to gamble like that.

    First, I really enjoy your videos. Just started watching which is why I'm typing this now. I think deGrom is not even close to be a Hall of Famer as he's always hurt. He only has 77 career wins at 34! I'll be surprised if he gets to 120 wins. Only has 1,505 Ks...he'll be lucky to get 2,000. He can't stay on the field. I only say this as so many people throw out his name as the best, or even in same sentence with Kershaw, Scherzer, and he shouldn't be in the same conversation. Anyway, keep up the great work!

    The list I don’t have a problem with. But I don’t see how you’d buy the bowman chrome altuve rookie card over his topps update rookie diamond anniversary or cognac parallel. Any good rookie from 2011 it should be one of those two parallels

  • @petMonster28
    @petMonster28 3 года назад +1

    Best Scherzer auto RC is 2008 UD Masterpieces Strokes of Genius. I get that some people only know how to like Topps, but that doesn't mean Topps is best all the time.
    Also, Trout's best RC is 2011 Bowman Draft paper. High grade chrome is way to easy to find, but the paper stuff is hard to find in gem mint. Give it time and it'll eventually overtake the chrome base.

    For deGrom, I look at Johan Santana because after 8 years they both had 2 Cy Young awards, had fairly similar numbers and both looked like potential hall of farmers. Santana then only pitched 4 more years and isn’t in. I want to see what deGrom looks like 4 years from now. On track? Yes, but would be at a coin flip category for me right now.

    I tend to like Altuve's chances of making the Hall a lot better than guys like Sale (injury prone and probably mostly forgotten by now), Ramirez (really needs to pick up the WAR pace considering his age), and Simmons (decent player but pretty forgettable, and no all-star games really hurts). Plus, Altuve's awards resume is considerably more impressive than any of them. And on top of all that, he's also one of the most clutch performers ever. While he most likely wouldn't make the Hall if his career ended today, I think he'd have to completely fall off a cliff to not make it in (which he isn't really showing much signs of).

    You have almost exactly the same views as me on all of these guys. The only two omissions I'd be curious about your positions on are Nelson Cruz and Robinson Cano. Cruz definitely doesn't line up sabermetrics-wise but if/when he gets 500 homers I think he could have a very McGriff-like case. Cano would be a 100% lock without the PEDs, even after the first suspension. But the 2nd time really knocked him out imo, but performance wise he has the numbers.

    • @Gemnist98
      @Gemnist98 2 года назад

      Cano is the closest thing we have to a modern McGwire or Sosa in terms of reputation. Being not only a repeat offender, not only unapologetic, but also not as elite as steroid users who are in the Hall or will be, he’s not getting in.
      Cruz is a more interesting case. While not as elite as Cano, he’s built his reputation up tremendously in recent years. Unfortunately his WAR is in the low 40s, so he’s really lacking.
