      net yet but ive stripped my old board next week end im going to remove the ballast from the trach with a wire brush

    • @DonegalDadRail
      @DonegalDadRail  3 года назад +2

      If the ballast was put down with PVA give the track a good soaking it will make it easier to remove

    25 years ago I built my boards that way. Now I've converted some of them into shelving and scrapped all but three. Now that I am older, they are just too heavy. It might seem a lifetime away now, but in a blink the grandchildren will be visiting to 'play trains'....

      Hi Gerard, 25 years that just shows what a good way of construction it is, if you still have some in use.

      @@DonegalDadRail Very true - and they make study shelves these days. It's me that has not stood the test of time.

    Restarting the hobby without the expensive brands. Nice to see a family layout come along. I found this series while trying to hunt down information on cars/wagons & locomotives that where active on the Southern Pacific between the Battle of the Denmark Straight (May 24, 1941), and the Battle of Atlantic (May 27, 1941). Do your selves a favor, and don't go for any locomotive over $150, or rolling stock over $30, they ARE NOT worth it. That was my mistake, and it's not one manufacturers should promote, no mater the detail, because those are memories that can be had if y'all go cheaper. Me & my sister use to not talk often, until we started working on upgrading couplers, wheels & other details, now we're lucky if she does not have homework or work after school.

      Thank you Csx68, I get a lot of my stock second hand. I do have few new models of my favourite loco's. I run whatever I want ,I don't stick do any particular area or era.

    Why use an 8mm bit for countersinking? Countersink bits are available

    • @DonegalDadRail
      @DonegalDadRail  3 года назад +1

      Using a bigger bit is just an alternative to a counter sinking bit.

    • @westwonic
      @westwonic 3 года назад +1

      @@DonegalDadRail OK, but I find that as the countersink buts are shorter I have more control.

    • @DonegalDadRail
      @DonegalDadRail  3 года назад

      Yes that is true but not everyone has all the tools that that are required and if you can use something else to help with costs all the better.

    Can you help me? It's probably really simple but if I've got an inner loop and an outer loop and I want them to run on different controllers, how do I do this? Thank you.
