- Jerry Kocharian was outside his church in Calabasas in the minutes leading up to Kobe Bryant’s fatal helicopter crash.
“Extra’s” Samantha Harris spoke to Kocharian, who said the chopper was hovering just above the church but difficult to see due to the cloud cover. The helicopter took off and soon after he heard the crash and saw smoke and fire in the distance.

The reporter is simply doing her job, such interviews are generally edited down to the most useful 5 to 10 seconds for broadcast. The reason we see it in full here is because of who was in the helicopter.

Describing the sound can tell you if it was a mechanical failure or not.
Helicopters are designed to fly high or low. I know ppl make deals with other entities, to prosper in life or what you may call it. But, I think it’s more to this story than what the media, and so called witnesses are telling us. I don’t know what he may have had his hands in... But, I know that there’s a pre trip inspection, on a lot of vehicles or air craft, that professional drivers/pilots operate. This happened for a reason, and who ever did it, had their reasons for it. Hope the living families of the deceased pull through from this one and stay strong. It was a tragedy, that I don’t believe was an accident.

And nobody payed attention to that comment but a few.So they stalled them for about 15 min in the air and hd a drone shoot it down.Notice after investigating there were NO SIGNS of a faulty engine or failure to the engine.& the helicopter plummeted @ a drastic speed sounds like it was shot down to me.

What really hurts to think about is how Kobe worked, traveled, practiced put his whole life into basketball and wasnt able to be at home alot (understandable chasing his dream) and I believe vanessa knew that was so important for Kobe and maybe looked forward to the chapter in there life's where he got to stay at home more and be with her and the kids. Also celebrate the long years of hardwork and success.. vanessa took one for the team allowing him to be on the road so much I think these years she was really looking forward to in life.. it's just so sad because he retired only 3 years ago :/ I'm so sad for her and their girls right now:(

I believe at a point they knowed that they are in real trouble. They had only a VFR-clearance and flew into IFR-conditions. Or in other words: They flew into the corner with no possibility to escape.
Choosing to switch to better weather or lower terrain a few minutes earlier would probably have prevented the accident. A few years ago i flew into bad weather conditions too, but i decieded early enough to turn back, but believe me, this was one of my scarriest experiences ever! After that i knewed that i almost killed my self!

Why do you think the pilot decided to fly under VFR and not IFR? Do you think it may be possible that they didn’t want to wait for it? I’m no aviation expert but, I heard it takes longer for Air Traffic control to clear you for IFR.

Theres a link on cnn the pilot was flying in between two mountains over the highway to avoid fog. He lost radio contact for the last two minutes due to the rugged terrain. They have the audio of the pilot on cnn and the radar he went up to 2400 ft then suddenly started to descend left too low over the highway in between two hills on each side. The tower kept telling him he was too low. Last contact was 945 am. He crashed on radar at 947 into the mountain. There was a eye witness hiking 200 ft away. He seen the chopper coming out of the fog into the mountain 5 seconds later. He had no time to recover. Then it exploded into a big fireball. He ran to see if any survivors but there wasnt. He took several close up images its online. So sad for the 9 lost. He never should have been flying. It was severe fog
