Sean I have to say that you are the most tech guru I ever seen here in RUclips. I commend you on your passion to share your knowledge with world, keep up the good work. Thanks
I've been reading and watching a lot of videos about the surface pro 3 lately and had almost made up my mind to buy one but this video just tipped me over the edge. It looks amazing. Need to wait for it to be available here now!!!!
completely unaware of miracast until the end of this video. It is exactly what I am looking for!! when out and bought the one you identified. Cant wait to hook it up to my SP3! Great vids!
Thanks for posting the wonderful reviews on Microsoft Surface 3 and 2. Because of your thorough overview, I have my sights set on the Surface Pro 4 when it comes out around July 2015. I look forward to your review of it as well.
Thank you so much for actually showing how the live-sharing thing works and looks! :D I just recently discovered the awesomeness of Surface Pro 3 and I can't wait to get its successor next year for college.
Sean Ong, You should get paid by Microsoft for sharing these precious tips! Thanks a lot. Some of these tips are really useful for teaching purpose. Maybe a topic for a next video? > "How to use the surface pro 3 for teaching purpose"
great you made me want to hunt the postman.(im getting mine within the week and i ordered it yesterday i cant wait and im losing sleep in anticipation also this is a device for school). need to find tht postman.. O.O
its absolutely epic!! sometimes it laggs but not soooo much like people say tho xD mine is i3 btw :3 lots of people at school got a surface pro 3 rather than a travel mate (by acer) cuz this is awesome thanks for asking :D
Epic I ordered mine 3 days ago with a type cover, forgetting to update my credit card info. Then, when the postman came today, friday, all i got was the type cover. Since i had to reorder it on a weekend, even with one day shipping (one business day) I wont be able to use it on monday for a very important presentation. Anyways, I have been losing 5 hours of sleep a night because im so excited. How long did it take you to get it. What version did you get?
Since SP3, as a PC can run full version of window software, as a tablet can run Window apps, and it can even run Android apps as you showed in your video above. Could you please make separate Detailed videos or tips & tricks for every function?? (how SP3 can run PC software, Window apps, Android apps).. That would be great, as I plan to get one SP3 as well. Thank you very much..!!
So this is cool in that it talks about what the SF3 could / can do, but I'd really like it if you went more about the actual tricks - like how to do them more than what it could do
Hey Sean someone told me about your videos, your videos are informative and very cool. Just the way you took the time to explain, your views are not bias or one sided, I think that android tabs does not offer the features and usability that the Surface offers, everyone constantly speaks about the surface not having enough apps without taking the time learn. I really think you should Turn Pro with your Channel, improve mic/vids quality and more. You would do very well. You have my support.
You should make a follow up that includes uninstalling hyper-v. I don't know why it's installed by default, but uninstalling it corrects a lot of wifi issues and allows it to wake up faster. Great videos by the way.
+Sean Ong Well, thanks a lot, great! I am in a Surface (Pro) School Program, and I am always looking for tipps and tricks how to use the Surface in (High) School environment in the best and easiest way. (I love Drawboard, OneNote (Class) and the combination with a wireless display adapter.) Many of my students also have a SP3, SP4 or a surface 3. Right now, we have just started. I can imagine, that many more students around the world would appretiate that :-).
I am an iPad user I have 3 of them but I want something more for work (architecture) when I saw the Surface Pro 3 at Best Buy, I thought is this really a Microsoft product, because they really out done themselves. It was a deal breaker when MS appstore was not appealing. If only it could run android I'll buy it. So now after watching this video two of my iPads are for sale.
When will people understand that the Start menu still exists in windows 8 with all of the functionality as seen in previous versions of windows, albeit with a much different visual design?
Please understand. I agree actually, however it wouldn't be a problem if the Windows 8 Start-screen didn't take more clicks to do the same thing the old start-menu design could have you do in less clicks.
Sean - can you explain or do a short vid on how you installed the Bluestacks on your SP3 ? I tried it on my original Surface Pro yesterday and it was unbearably slow and glitchy.
Love these tips & tricks - make going in this new direction much more exciting and much less intimidating for me! Thank you Sean :) Are you using an i5 or i7 and which do you recommend, the 128 or 256? Seems like with the cloud, dropbox and all the other storage possibilities, the 128 would be sufficient, but please tell me what you use as I'd like to be able to do the things you're demonstrating. Thank you, thank you!
Love this video! Thank you for the tips. I just got my Surface Pro 3 yesterday so bare with me. I have downloaded Blue Stacks player but it looks different than what you are showing. It only lets me search for apps and but no home page and menus like you have. Any ideas?
Search for the app "nova launcher" or any launcher of your preference. That will make bluestacks look more like the Android you are familiar with. Try that and let me know if you still have questions about that.
Regarding Android on the SP3 via BlueStacks: If you're running a sketching/drawing app like Sketchbook or Layer Paint, does the pen pressure work as though you were on a Galaxy Note device? It isn't a huge deal, but I'd like to maintain access to my already paid for library of pressure sensitive apps on Android. I will be referencing this video when I eventually get my SP3.
Im still learning the system, can I install android apps on your Surface? you said something bout that around 3:50. can you elaborate how it would work?
Chris1 Thanks for asking. It's part of the voice recognition tips in this video: Why I Love my Microsoft Surface 2 : Tips and Tricks. (1 min 4 seconds into the video). To use it, just install the Google Search app - which includes google voice search. If you have the Surface Pro 3, you can just say "OK Google" when the chrome browser is open - you don't need to specifically install the search app. Let me know if that doesn't make sense.
I am sure Surface Pro 3 is the best MS's attempt to cover the two worlds. Windows 8, on the other hand, needs some work no doubt about that. It is not only me me but the whole world that says that. I think with the right software it will be pretty perfect.
Great Vid, quick question though, how big is the Android mode file size and how demanding is it? Also does it run in the background and if so can you close it?
Wow, the Surface Pro 3 keeps on surprising me. Seems like a great choice to replace my laptop and have a tablet in a single device. QUESTION: How does the android-tablet-thing works? is it an emulator or some kind? is it free or paid?
there was a note on the screen during that part -- said to check out bluestacks.com, so it's definitely a software add-on. I was very impressed by that, too!
you can dualboot roms instead of bluestacks but this is simple exept if you are an tsf shell or launcher enthuziast or just Wanting Cyanogen or The TouchWizz preferably the one on the note 10.1 or note 3 because of the pen functions
Vijay Tilak Yes it can and first you need to watch vids on youtube for android installment on surface pro 1 pro 2 or pro 3 and then watch a vid about roms on android
Great video. thanks. Having difficulty daisy chaining from the docking station. Dell U2415 monitors x2. I can create daisy chaining directly from the SP3. Any suggestions?
Wow I had no idea my surface could do that. I love this baby for many years now. Still faster than my Windows 10 desktop. Do you really live in Renton, WA? 5:50 in video.
Thanks for the video. I just got my surface pro 3 and wow, didn't know it did all that. One thing I'm trying to do. Stream what I have on a TV in the other room onto my Surface pro. I know I can do it the other way, but want to swap that. any ideas? Thanks again
Hello! I just ordered an sp3, and I was wondering how the collaborative whiteboard works exactly? I know it's utilized with one-note, but now exactly is it shared in the cloud, and would it be accessible to anyone, say in a classroom?
Hey Sean, what cable did you use to hook it up to the TV? I'm a basketball coach and I would like to show my team basketball plays by showing it on tv.
can you use it with pc as a remote control via blwetooth for presentation in the classroom? what is if you can use its blwetooth as a remote control just like mack and ipad.
@Sean Ong, hi how are you could you please explain how i use my surface pro 3 as you do? so i can sync it real time to other devices around the world, kind regards Fabian
Sean, right now I have a Surface RT. I want to get S3 but it doesn't come with Office. Is there a way to project my RT onto the S3 so I can do Office work while I take advantage of the S3's bigger display?
How do I do the onenote sharing? Is it through my own account in every device or is there possibility to actually share a note with another onenote user?
Hey Sean, I just purchased a smart TV and can't seem to figure out how project my Surface 3 to my Samsung TV. I go to devices and then click on project, then add device, I can see the TV and try to add it but it says my TV times out before it actually connects. Any ideas on how to stream something from my Surface onto my TV?
Awesome ! I Quick question... Are you running the i5 or i3? I have the first pro and I don't know if I am going for I3 or I5... 200usd it's too much... and I am looking for battery time :)
The only version available right now is the i5. The i3 version should give you better battery life and, unless you're doing cad, video editing, or gaming, it will be fast enough .
will all this work on other full windows 8.1 hybrid or detachable devices such as the hp split x2 or even the surface pro 2? most specifically the android emulator and start button?
what to disable the Bluetooth keyboard inactive function? (not sure is it a setting), sometimes the keyboard is not functioning when the sp3 is inactive.
I am using a Macbook Air at the moment and I like the surface pro 3 allot, love the touchscreen. But what keeps me from buying it is the stand. Cant use it properly on the knees and other places
titoli1 If you've tried it, you'll notice that it works great on your knees and other places. Especially with the adjustable kickstand. Really, the only single places I've had trouble is on VERY small trays or "old school" desks (chair/desk combo). The Surface can slip off the back of the tray if not careful. Other than that, it's versatile. If you just want a laptop with a touchscreen, there are several good options out there. But if you would also like a tablet with a great pen, then SP3 is an excellent option. Good luck.
Hands-down the best video I've seen for introducing people to the Surface Pro 3. Cheers!
Looks amazing. Hope it catches on quick I'm tired off the overflow of iPads and androids tablets
Sean, great video. I wish i could give it 100 thumbs up. i just got my surface pro 3 and I'm blown away by it. Keep up the great videos!!!!
completely unaware of miracast until the end of this video. It is exactly what I am looking for!! when out and bought the one you identified. Cant wait to hook it up to my SP3! Great vids!

Your video is very helpful to me.
I have decided to buy Surface 4 this year.
Thanks.
This video blew my mind. Very COOL. I love the Surface Pro 3.
Thank you so much for actually showing how the live-sharing thing works and looks! :D
I just recently discovered the awesomeness of Surface Pro 3 and I can't wait to get its successor next year for college.

I rolled my eyes so hard when I saw the envelope -_-

Great video!

Great video! What do all the buttons on the new pen do? Are they configurable? Can you configure the input curve?

Hello, a very helpful video. Just have a quick question, how did you install Android on it?

Good job

Would you please tell me How can I make my start menu to swipe left and write instead of up and down?
Is that the one with a wireless service vendor or just the stand alone used via wifi? What do you recommend as far as going mobile?
Hello Sean, can you please tell me what app you installed to get the Android tablet mode you show?
Amazing.
will all this work on other full windows 8.1 hybrid or detachable devices such as the hp split x2 or even the surface pro 2? most specifically the android emulator and start button?
what to disable the Bluetooth keyboard inactive function? (not sure is it a setting), sometimes the keyboard is not functioning when the sp3 is inactive.
Great video, thanks Sean!
Do you know how to disable the charms bar on a surface pro 3 running windows 8.1?
how did you do that first trick? the one where you are sharing your note live with someone
I am using a Macbook Air at the moment and I like the surface pro 3 allot, love the touchscreen. But what keeps me from buying it is the stand. Cant use it properly on the knees and other places
