I've been driving a forklift on and off over 30 years. This guy is very good at what he does. Obviously OSHA would not approve, however I'm sure his boss is very happy wih how efficient he was.
I have 33 years of experience in LTL transport. This guy is not doing anything dangerous. He is doing what he can with what he has. Their is always time frames to respect in any logistic job. He looks very efficient and competent.
This guy is good. As a forklift driver myself with 27 years experience, one usually finds operators like this are generally the safest.....despite all the official training procedures. I hate having to do everything "properly" when it comes to refresher time!!!
Andy Preston been at it on loading and recieving docks for 7 months and I've learned if they don't drive like that..they've probably never been on a truck and I stay the hell away of from them lol
Well as a forklift operator instructor with 12 years experience all I can say is that it's good to know the rules and principles before you break them so at least you can pretend. In other words when you are about to handle $250k worth of machinery and drop it because you didn't secured the truck before depositing load at high level for example guess who's fault is that? I wish you all the best anyway.
lol super senior guys like you with the "he's safe...despite his wilful ignorance of the SOPs" are actually the most dangerous people in shops and therefore among the worst employees. too into their hire date to understand the sop exist for one reason: because robots can't do your job yet.
When you drive a lift for so long, you learn things like these along the way, mostly from other old veteran drivers. We had a guy in our whse, Raul, who would do letdowns and he would never actually drive into the bay to put the product in. All his maneuvers were done by simply sliding or nudging the pallet with the tip of the forks. That guy made production standards like crazy, always had tons of time to burn.
I'd say it took quite a while to learn that routine. Nicely done! I'm a material handler in a warehouse, my skills are definitely up there. I wish my coworkers could say the same..lmao
as one forklift cowboy to another I salute his flagrant contempt for convention! I too do horrific things with my forklift at Tokyo international airport :)
i work in a warehouse. i taught myself to always look where im going. even if im only moving a foot or 3 inches. people will walk right up behind you trying to die 🤐
I second that, only what's worse is the people walking in my blind spot are managers and health and safety officials, and the place they walk is not a pedestrian walking area but they use their title to do whatever they like.
When your company can't or simply won't hire enough people and get enough equipment to get the job done safely and on time you gotta do what you gotta do.
Skodz Gaming dangerous my arse. Dangerous to what? When you’re being pushed to get shit done, as a forklift driver I know you have to go bat out of hell to get it done.
I have been at the incident time when I walked checking goods. One guy was showing his skills to the new starters. He spin around like crazy with FLT and in one moment the tub of shrink wrap flew out of the truck from the back of the seat. Another spin in circle made him ride right on the wrap tube and made him jump as well tipping over. Unfortunately he had no chance to grab the steering firmly and lean to opposite side from tipping direction so the forklift tipped over on his neck with the guard frame causing death. His 8 years experience has tragic final. No one knows when will be your final but you can extend your live every day simply following safety rules. Of course would be a good idea to have an specially controlled designated area for extreme FLT operating skills show with safety equipment installed. I worked with big variety of FLT trucks over 12 Years and I do have lot of skills, tricks and technics. But I NEVER overprice myself and I respect my profession.
I think he did pretty good in the environment that he is in. Different skills in different situations, he did amazing. Shaved a lot of time by doing it his way.
I agree...ive worked forklifts in warehouses and lumber mills...and iv learned to operate them backwards when loaded...and when in an open area you can do more with little efforts
It's been a long time since I drove a forklift, but I was pretty good when I did. I mostly preferred driving backwards when I had a load. You can actually see better going backwards. With a load on the forks, you have a huge blind spot wherever your head is.
At 00:23 the driver disregarded basic safety.. Had a school bus or a group of elderly ramblers walked into his path via a time portal he would have been totally unaware of them, causing untold carnage and explosions blowing up the harbour and destroying Alaska's fishing industry.. Basics man, basics.
Good driver! What he is doing is pretty easy with plastic,, aluminum and wood container bins.. Its a different story when you are moving huge loads of product that have a ton more weight loading semi trailers,, 4&5 teer racks in warehouses and moving huge industrial equipment to and from with people around/cant drive as fast.. Im pretty sure this driver can do much more with his good driving skills in heavy equipment as well.. What he is doing in this video is years of experience and doing the same routine day in and day out.. I have about 15yrs in standup and sit down lift driving and i have to say im pretty damn good myself lol.. I can spot a skilled driver within 1 minute behind the lift..
I don't know about highly skilled but as far as getting the job done he is your man. borderline reckless definitely dangerous keep well away from his truck.
Nice work. Little wasted movement, got the job done quickly and even drove in reverse with a tall load (watch other vids here if you don't get why that's a big deal). Kudos!
That's not reckless, a good driver can make thing's easier for a lot of people. Any one can drive a forklift and lift shit up and down, there is a difference between driving it and making the sucker do the work, especially if you can make it do what you want.
Dude is a boss! He makes those forks an extension of himself.

Not too bad... Good control on wet soil, nice job with the containers as well. But he almost never looks behind and it's very dangerous. ...ohh and one more thing. This music made all of my hair fall off...
Still unsafe, an environment is never "controlled." Anything unexpected can happen. Drives too fast when it's wet, a forklift cannot stop as quickly as a car, also drives forward with his view blocked and not looking back. A safe, competent, forklift driver should never, ever drive like this.
Forklifts are dangerous machines. A regular warehouse forklift can weigh up to 6,000 pounds. An outdoor one like that can weigh up to 12,000 pounds. 100 people per year are killed in forklift accidents. What if one of your loved ones were killed by a careless operator, showing off? It is no joke Scooter.
You calling me Scooter, Trucker? I think there should be a disclaimer before the video that reads "No loved ones were hurt during the filming of this show off video of a guy driving a forklift alone on a wet pier"
aside from not looking behind him much, I think he's just fine. I handle freight with similar speed and precision and I end up being called on by the bosses for priority projects.
Great job! Facial recognition isn't totally possible. Jesse looks a little like me! I'm stealing this video and passing this off as me! Great video reference! Thanks Jesse! Great work!
Pretty creative use of equipment. I'm used to moving freight that you can't toss around . I imagine that facilities mechanic hates that kid. When you push the agility of any type of lift something eventually breaks.
This is ok if you drive there alone or with 1 other person and have a pattern together but if there are alot of drivers and people this is dangerous af
The dock was also empty of other workers and dock workers are aware of forktrucks. Did the employer make sure forklift was equipped with a backup beeper as per osha?
I do shit like this all the time with our 5K forklift at work. Big Corporations with safety people in place wouldn't let this fly. Small business do what you like. Nice video.
Seems pretty good to me. As a FL driver myself the guy has skills. He obviously knows his forklift and what it can do. Nice work sir! In this line of work if you are slow, you don't have a job.
um in your line of work if you're fast and therefore dangerous and taking risk you don't have a job. we the management don't care if you do something 3-4 minutes (1%) faster we care if someone gets injured or if you damage our shit. slow safe hardworking employees are the best they don't have dumb attitudes they don't hurt themselves or others and they don't cause managers drama.
You've obviously never driven a forklift. You can be both fast and safe if you know what you are doing. The driver in this video is very skilled and in control. I have been on both sides and there is always pressure from "management" to be both safe and fast. Just my opinion! 😁
only one thing to perfect here, instead of playing with the thing to turn it back, i'd just drive in, lift it up, make sure i have space, gain speed and brake hard, the box will make a kickflip :D
Oh, wow, a 3ton Komatsu, how did you handle such a raging monster of a machine on terrifying flat ground? My heart was in my mouth for a full 3 and a half minutes. I am now going to write a sternly worded letter to the entire world warning them not to watch such a pulsating and reckless display of load shifting.
How was he not sliding due to wetness, I remember there was a flood in our warehouse and just the smallest amount of water cause the forklift to lose control and slide
As someone who spent considerable time at the same job on the docks, i would say that the operator is highly skilled at his job. I was known by the higher ups as fast and safe. Except for not knowing the actual speed that he was going, i consider him skilled. Many people that have never driven a forklift, shouldnt be critical. Try the same things in a blizzard.
yes very obviously dangerous practices as everyone is pointing out but his skills and precision is on point. i give him a 8.0! i work in the same line of work he does..i unload calamari boats out of southern california, ventura harbor to be exact and he's good but i know i can show him a thing or two in forklift driving. i make those mutha fuckers dance! its all about making every turn count, making sure every move you make benefits you in accomplishing your task, that plus hauling ass and ur good to go...and as always, every forklift driver is aware of their surroundings at all times even when it looks like we are careless.
um real companies that aren't the walmarts and amazons of the world (ie 95% of big employers) actually want you to do it safe because safe = $$$ and rushing does nothing but provide surplus/idle time for the unskilled monkeys that will soon be replaced by disciplined robots.
He shouldn't have been wearing his seat belt. When i was going through my training, i was told the only time you shouldn't wear your seat belt is on harbor docks. If you were o accidentally drive off the edge into the water, your strapped into a 15,000lbs rock going straight down. Other than that, this dude is mad good
Am I the only one that noticed in the description that it's saying that people like Jesse Myner need to b banned from operating forklifts, & then look & c that the video was posted by Jesse Myner? Lol
That’s actually very easy to do, considering there was little to no weight. It’s when you’re moving things that are big and heavy that your skills get put to the test.
I liked it better when Osha was just a little town in Wisconsin instead of yet another damned gov't agency that has taken on a life of its own, and assuming authority they were never intended to have.
