Hi from germany, you have to go very deep in to nordic and germanic history, its about the reborn god of nature (the child) its about the conection to nature we are all connected to nature. Great reaction!!! Heilung considers themselves to be a tribe and their fans brothers and sisters thx for your reaction.
Love your reaction. Can I just add som points that are important in seeing this? The most important being that the child is born under an eclipse (seen in background several times). According to previking believs such children had very special gifts: hamnskifte (= the ability to change appearance), age shift, talking to animals etc The previking time and it's religion in nordic countries is much more female directed than the religion in the later years (viking gods like Tor and Oden... ) See also her healing (=heilung) of the bird...
Well, Hamskifte is a key aspect in Norse mythology as well. Im not sure if a shift to a male perspective is very representative for Åastru, but rather should be ascribed to the later christians who wrote it all down.
@@daginn896 HamNskifte for sure is both in Asatro and the religion before that. The female perspective is different in bronze age and earlier if you look at the stone carving of different types. Not the icelandic christian writing it down... :-)
The kulnung is for all creatures. Anoana is at a wild, Northern Norwegian fjord. She also calls the birds. The muskox is Anoana's powerful ally. Some have studied the early Nordic stuff. They say that a huge aurochs may have been what was really intended.
Maria Franz, the star no one has heard of even though you can find videos of her going back ten years. It takes three groups to contain her talent. She sings in perfect English in Euzen, too.
At the end, you were rendered speechless...that alone says you were touched deep by the music. This is my absolute favorite Heilung production. It gets in my blood (German-Irish/Scots-American Indian) and stirs deep feelings. This coming from a 71 year old rock and roll lover says much about Heilung. I've watched three reviews by women...I see there is at least 2 guys who react, so now to see their reactions/analysis. Thank you, Tauri.
The Beauty of this is overwhelming, isn't it?! Their shamanic art sends you back to the inner roots of our indoeuropean ancestors, and i LOVE that!!! 🖤♥️🤘🙏🦌🔥
I'm from South America and this song (and almost all Heilung songs) vibrates deeply into my (southamerican) core too. I think their songs transcend locations and just speaks to humans.
@@javierhernandezjara860 Different cultures and races are just the result of humans with different resources, obstacles, and histories. Some are a lot different on the outside, but everyone is still just a human. I think the further down into the roots you go, the more obvious it is we all came from the same seed.
I'm obsessed with this song and the video, it's so phenomenal. I don't usually have much use for reaction vids but I was so curious to see if it was effecting others the way it did me, and it turns out it is! The vocals and the visuals are amazing, I'm making practically everyone I know watch the vid. And kulning! That's what I was thinking of watching it the first time and I couldn't remember the word, so thank you.
Your reaction's beautiful! Funnily enough, Anoana seems to trigger the same (powerful) emotions in everyone who hears it! *Might be the proof that Heilung speaks not to the ears, but to the soul.*
Vikings are a spatially and temporally strongly limited subgroup of Germanic, Northern European population history. They represented only a small part even in the Scandinavian population. So this is a bad umbrella term. The term Viking is a job title like pirate. You wouldn't call traditional South American music pirate music either, although that's where the image of the priates of today's pop culture originated. Heilungs influences (costumes, motifs in their videos, text fragments in the songs, etc.) include archaeological knowledge back to the Bronze Age and encompass a much wider spectrum.
People do not understand what they are listening. It's typical modernistic western individuals state of mind. Soulless copycats trying to be likeable, i watch these 'reactions videos from time to time 'cos they pop on my recommendations tab just to see what people do to do nothing. xD Sad reality. Meanwhile Heilung is making music with human bones and connecting people to each other in reality. The basis for these songs is the connection with humans, nature and reality....
I love this band so much. I have no idea what they're saying, they speak so many languages - many of them old and some of them dead - but my soul knows what they're trying to express and that's enough for me. You should watch one of their rituals live - there are several of them on RUclips in really good quality. Their live performances are so much more than a concert or a show.
I don't understand what they've done with this song in particular, but I've listened to it over a dozen times recently and I can't stop bursting into tears every time o_O None of their other stuff gets me quite that way... Bizarre.
Thank you for your beautiful reaction! I just discovered this song today (but knew about Heilung for a couple of years). I'm just floored. I often will play silly this or that questions to people (not silly if someone has either, obviously), but one of my favorites to ask is: would you rather be deaf or blind? You have to pick one. For me, I'd choose being blind. Because if I couldn't hear music, something like this beautiful piece, I feel like a majority of my soul would be dead. I've seen most of all what I will see, but there will always be new and evolving music.
Anoana Landawarriar - Is it just me in my deep thinking that an Anoana Landawarriar would be (and is) exactly what the world would need now. The world most probably never needed the protector of the land more than now...... The song and cinematic video was like a movie trailer and I would love to see and hear the story of Anoana, the eclipse born landawarriar....
Thanks, Tauri, this was marvelous. Everything about Heilung works hand in hand; Maria's vocals, the song construction, the video, the choice of scenery, costumes and the story all come together. I was recovering from surgery last month, and I wore my headphones to bed and listened to Heilung. It relaxed me, gave me some peaceful nights of sleep and I like to think it helped heal me. After all, that is what their name means.
I have found great comfort in Heilung’s music. This song in particular was released 3 days before my mom passed away and it has done nothing but help heal my soul over her loss. There is such beautiful magick in Heilung’s music.
I’m so sorry for your loss 💜 I don’t know if you knew that the translation of their name Heilung is healing which literally fits exactly what you’re describing feeling listening to this song 💜.
I also have used this song to help me with dealing with the loss of my mother. It brings me a calming feeling that nothing else can. So sorry for your loss.

I'm nowhere near Europe, Nordic or Viking, but I feel very attracted to this kind of music, like it calls out to me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one
And I thought Rammstein was killing it this year with their Music Videos, but then comes Heilung and and says thank you to their growing fanbase with a piece of art that just says to all other music videos "Hold my Ale!". Absolutely love it

To explain a little where you can classify "Heilung": The music of healing should make "sounds and sounds of bygone times" come alive again and bring you in contact with your "inner healed self". This is not only limited to the music, but also to the poems contained. The languages used are diverse: from German and English to Gothic and Latin to proto-Norse. As a further stylistic device, the band members wear elaborately designed traditional costumes on stage. They are partly based on the "spiritual traditions of the Eurasian circumpolar peoples" or reproduce historically correct images of Viking Age clothing. Heilung describe their music as "amplified history". You can take that literally. On the stage of the German-Danish collective you will find human bones converted into instruments, ancient drums, bronze rings and sometimes entire armies armed with shields and swords based on the material of the Iron and Viking Age. Because some Misguided see music about ancient times and the use of Nordic symbolism as an invitation to missionary, nationalistic and right-wing extremist ideas, Heile emphasizes that their art is independent of modern political and religious systems. Any attempt to make a connection is "pointless" as Heilung "tries to connect the listener to the time before Christianity and its political offspring raped and burned their way into the Northern European mentality."
Hey Tauri, adore this reaction and how it moved you, especially around 5:10 when I thought you were going to burst into tears as Maria was kulning on the beach. Might I suggest Myrkur for you, Amelie is an amazing vocalist and also does some folky songs and some kulning as well.

The lyrics for this piece are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries CE. They are often fitted with a decorated rim and loop, which indicates that they were meant to be worn and perhaps provide protection, fulfil wishes or for divination.
