Hi: The lyrics for this piece are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries CE. They are often fitted with a decorated rim and loop, which indicates that they were meant to be worn and perhaps provide protection, fulfil wishes or for divination.
The bracteates feature a very significant iconography influenced by Roman coinage. They were predominantly made from Roman gold, which was given to the North Germanic peoples as peace money.
In Anoana, the listener has the chance to delve into a collection of likely encoded spells from the Migration Period and get a touch of magic from the Dark Ages.
The intention of the piece is to playfully reconnect to an incantational language of a period where the North was richer in gold than any other region. Our forefathers presumably enjoyed a time of great prosperity and it may make us rethink how dark these ages real
Above the sign on the womb of the giving birth mother is probably a painted version of Ægirs Hjelm/Aegishjalmur/Ægishjálmr ("Ægir's Helmet"), which is a symbol described in the Poetic Edda as a symbol of ultimate protection, physical, mental and spiritual referred to as protection against all kinds of fear "Ægir/Ægi" means "Sea" in both dialects of Old Norse and is also the name of the personification of the sea. "Ægir's Gate", describes the eddies that drag ships to the bottom of the sea. Ægir / Ægi has often been described as an old man with a long white beard, and to see him standing still in the water was a bad omen, as he surfaced to drag people and ships to the bottom of the ocean. Ægirs Hjelm is described in the Poetic Edda in a stanza with a shape-shifting dragon, Fafner, whose blood is poisonous. The dragon guards a treasure and, with the help of Ægirs Hjelm's spell, is invincible. In The Galdrabók, the symbol is also described as something "you wear on your forehead, between your eyebrows"). In any case, this must be taken with tweezers since it may be wrong.
About the solar eclipse perhaps these images would be connected with the symbol of the black sun. For the ancients, the sun was the source of life, as it provided them with heat and energy. The lack of him was just the opposite. For the ancient peoples, it seems that the periodicity and continuity of day and night made us think not only of the existence of 1 sun, but of two suns, one bright and luminous and the other black. One represented life and the other death. This could be translated as the balance between light and dark and its connection to the world of the dead and the living. In it, the dawn of the day was interpreted as the rebirth of life and its renewal. That is why eclipses were so important for all primitive and ancient cultures: When the sun disappeared in broad daylight, they predicted that eclipses would bring about great changes, or that even in the worst case, the world could come to an end.

The Teutonburg massacre was 6-7 years before the aftermath depicted by Rammstein. Children und me play many online games to stay in touch und each one our guild name ist Legio IX Hispana which should be nostalgic for a historian. The language Heilung uses was pieced together from the artifacts of concession, bribery und many failed attempts to conquer the land across the Rhine. So cool you enjoy series as well. Sorry, Wolfman, women seem to "get" the message of this "vision" far more quickly than men. You watched with your eyes. Sue "watched" with her heart, with eyes closed. (And pausing in the middle of the "birth scene",: WTF! )
It goes far beyond the "bathe in the blood" mayhem of earlier Heilung rituals. I must have watched this masterpiece 100 times since it was released just a couple of weeks ago. So have millions of others. I am a long-standing fan of Heilung, but I sense something new and amazing in this five minute work, thanks mostly to the incredible vision and talent of Maria Franz. It might be called "The birth and training of a female shaman" (or volva as they were called with great respect in those times.) Born under a "good sign" (eclipse), she completes her training in the art and skills of the female side of the magic (seidr), and at the end goes out into the world and calls the "spirit flock" home with the ancient Nordic herd call, Kulning. Maria said in an interview that this story is only Part One, so it is natural we would have questions about "what it means." First few hundred viewings, just let the images and sounds wash over you. Then consider the meaning.

Great reaction. Heilung calls their music amplified history and their performances rituals. They take inspiration from the poetic eddas and other ancient northern european texts and artifacts. Language is proto norse. Icelandic is the closest modern language to proto norse. In this song the baby is born during a solar eclipse. In northern proto germanic culture babies born in these conditions were considered to have magical powers including healing powers (when the child brings the bird back to life) and shape shifting (the woman charging the musk ox to symbolize shifting into the animal). The baby , child, and women are the same person and show her growth her as a shaman. There has been a resurgence, albeit small, of people preserving and practicing pre Christianity religions and culture in Scandinavian and Germanic countries but as others have said Christianity destroyed most of that ancient culture and so their are gaps in our knowledge. In the middle of the song you can hear Maria using a technique called kulning which is a traditional Swedish style of singing used to call cows home from the fields. Here is some examples. ruclips.net/video/KvtT3UyhibQ/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/nc7F_qv3eI8/видео.html. Jonna's channel is amazing and a beautiful showcase of traditional northern swedish culture and the land.

Its probably mentioned before, but this isn't a Bison.
The muskox is native to the arctic and belongs, in despite of the name ox, to the family of Caprinae.
So this Ovibos is more related to goats and sheep. When rival males are fighting they can run 40 to 50 kilometers per hour to go for a head on collision.
A collision that can be heard kilometers far away. And they do it until one of them gets a headache, I think.
It's not an endangered species, btw.
Cool video indeed. Superb music and impressive lyrics in a language spoken by our North-European ancestors.
The video is full of symbolism. A very important subject in a time where people were more one with nature than now, but with the same value as a "normal" religion nowadays.
The simplicity of the instruments, mainly drums and string instruments (made from natural products) were now and then of serious influence considering what basic mood it needed to enhance.
Me, personally, find the Heilung repertoire mesmerising, intensive, genetically familiar and a free history lesson in one..
    Awesome, innit? 😀

The language is protonorse i.e. the language "before" the norse of the vikings. Normally attributed to the bronze age and younger stone age in the nordic countries. Only fragments of this language is known from the bracteates Nidels is talking about, but also from tales from greek and roman visitors. So it is a reconstructed language. Another important thing is the solar eclipse taking place at the time of the birth of Anoana. Children born under these have paranormal forces such as ability to change looks (hamnskifte), healing (of the bird) and talking to animals

"Heilung" often attempts to interpret runes, whose languages and pronunciations have long been forgotten, lingually and musically. The languages they use for this are essentially German, Icelandic, Norwegian, Danish, Gothic, Latin, English and all their predecessors and forgotten dialects.
Often, therefore, it is difficult to really assign a language. Even if there are songs or song lines that can be clearly assigned, it is often just a mixture of words with a beautiful harmony.
The current song has a lot of Old Norse i think. 🤔

It was an Myskoxe (swedish) musk ox in english. We have very few of them up north...
This song has absolute nothing to with fighting or blood.
    It's about life.
And it is from poems from northern bronze age that begun about 4000 years ago, from iron age, migration period and vendel age, then viking age.
The language is mainly old norse, that we all spoked in denmark, norway, sweden and northern germany before we parted.
Old norse is most alike icelandic. But nowdays it's kind jibberish for most scandinavians. Maybe get a word or 2 in a sentense..

Anoana be too critical, but I think wolfman needs a different set of frames 👓. 😜
I heard that the main language in Anoana is actually Proto-norse, which evolved into the modern day scandinavian languages. It may also be in part Old Norse/ Norrønt, but I’m not that familiar with the band nor the song. So others can probably better comment.

This is most likely the worst reaction video out of the 50 or so I've seen. Wolfman was terribly distracted by whatever was on his left and whatever was in that mug. And then does on some diatribe unrelated to the video.
Sue was into the music full time.
