Love to hear about the variety of fabrics and the emphasis on lighting to help aid our eyes when stitching. You are so knowledgeable in the samplers and wonderful to share your enthusiasm and knowledge with us. Thank you for another wonderful video!

I would like to add another perspective to the discussion. I have stitched on aida, evenweave and linen. I truly dislike stitching on linen. The un-eveness of the threads and slubs annoy me. I don't like that characteristic of linen. So preferring evenweave and aida is not a matter of now knowing how to stitch on linen. As you both said, what is important is doing your stitching and enjoying it. I have to force myself to pick up projects on linen, it is a chore. I just wanted to put this out there. There are lots of considerations when choosing fabric. Thanks and Happy Stitching.

Thanks for a lovely video with Cathe. She is a ‘go to’ subject matter expert in fabrics. I refer to her website on many occasions to read up on fabrics and threads as well. Thanks Nicola for sharing. ❤️❤️

Thank you for this topic. I am a new stitcher and I want to stitch a sampler. Also, I was excited to see you were talking to Cathe from Needle in a Haystack. I live in California about an hour from this store but I haven’t been there yet. Love your samplers and your videos.

Tami Latorraca-Piumarta Cathe’ store is well worth a visit for the wonderful choice of products and for Cathe’s knowledge of the art.

Thank you for this very informative video. I have not made the leap from Aida to linen but am looking forward to doing so. The linaida fabric sounds like it would be a good way to make the transition. Thanks again!🙂🇨🇦

Great info! I was at my LNS and they had LinAida but only in 10 count. It was almost like touching heavy canvas. Will be interested to actually see and feel it in 18 count. Hope it’s softer. Thanks for sharing!

What an interesting video. I didn't find it difficult at all to switch to linen I just kept reminding myself to count threads not holes. I love the slubs and texture. And totally agree good light and magnification. I'm 60 yrs old with estigmatisms and I still manage to deal with 40 ct linen!

Thanks for the video, I hadn’t heard of Linaida. I went from Aida to linen via evenweaves. At the suggestion of my LNS I tried Jobelan, which taught my eye to count 2 threads. From there I went to linen. It was an easy progression. I’m currently stitching on 30 ct Legacy Dower linen, which would be a good starter linen as well. The holes are quite open and it’s easy to count. Thanks again.

I also grieve when a project is done, especially if I do not have the next project picked out.
    Be well, Robin Pollard

I live in Turkey and linen Aida is available here in a range of colours from darks to pastels to Beige's ,it also comes in the sparkly version too .*Edit just to say I love working on it ,its not too soft or too stiff so its perfect for me .

I can’t imagine how a sampler with open spaces would look on Aida. It might handle better than traditional Aida, but still has those large holes. Just my opinion.
