    🎬🎬🎬 MORE CONTENT 🎬🎬🎬
There was SO much that I had to cut out of this haha
The original rough cut was 20 minutes long and I knew that would not do well for a RUclips video. When I'm editing I often think, "would I enjoy this" or "would I even click on a video this length" and the answer is always NO until I really trim the video down. Maybe it's the coffee, maybe it's my increasingly shorter attention span but I can't even really watch a 12 minute video anymore. Most of the time when I'm watching other RUclips videos I come away from it thinking, a lot of this was filler or not essential to the core idea of the video.
The concept of an "essential sequence" of a video was on my mind when I was making this one. A video should be like a straight line from A to B to C to D (etc) where A is when the concept of the video explained and B is the first step towards getting to the end. Any footage or information that doesn't directly apply to this essential sequence should be cut out. I know I'm not perfect in that regard but this helped turn a somewhat hard to watch video into a more satisfying video for me with hopefully few tangents.
Most of the cuts were things that didn't fit into the essential sequence for this video: my computer crashing twice, using a reference song to see when it used filters, the full 4 demos played out (letting the full demo play out gives better context but reduces watch-ability enough for it to be a net negative in my eyes). A great piece of advice I heard for editing anything in general is "if it can be cut and the rest still makes sense, then cut it".
I'm pretty excited for the next episode and I'm excited about this series in general. I get to work on a career goal of being a "Pro Producer" and I get a RUclips video out of it too. It's a two-birds-with-one-stone scenario for me. Also, I feel like this is the type of videos that people really want to watch deep down. I feel like a food analogy is fitting here- Entertainment or Spectacle type videos are like a small piece of candy where it's appealing but lacks depth or substance. Tutorials/Tips & Tricks videos are like a small snack where it's real food that feeds your inner desire to be successful at something (in this case music production). While it does help you get one step closer to fulfilling that inner desire, it doesn't fully satisfy your appetite, especially because tutorials only take you so far. The idea for this series was to be a meat-and-potatoes type of video where I show a behind-the-scenes look at me building my music career as an artist, something I know many people want to do. I know that the next best thing to fulfilling your inner desire is watching someone do it. Traveling the world, eating amazing food, buying a house, winning a championship, these are all things that are amazing to do on your own but are also things people enjoy watching others do. I can think of several TV shows that fit the first three and basically all sports and game shows fit into the last one.
I am super excited to work on videos and music right now and my hope is that you enjoy this series too!

oh that's a cool approach listening to it differently with every pass. sometimes i'll throw my songs on different types of speakers just to see what needs to be controlled a bit more.
