When mining on max settings it stayed around 70C with max fan turned on, and that is really good considering mining is going to max out the GPU for long periods of time. The back and bottom of this laptop are super open, resulting in lots of air flow. And the fans are a special 70 pin design to keep noise low given the rate they are spinning. They are loud if 100% maxed out which never happens unless I force it to stay at 100%. even gaming, they sit around 40% to 60% fan speed. When just normal gaming (not pushing crazy limits), in CS:GO on max settings and 1440P resolution, I ranged from 58C to 68C while playing on a second monitor at 120Hz. That’s good in my opinion given the GPU can go 80+ C at it's rated allowable temps. This was also leaving the power settings on normal AI mode, so the laptop is setting itself based on the need behind the scenes without user intervention. When I’m not gaming, the laptop is cool and silent. Just make sure to put the thing in balanced mode when on battery, because it will use battery faster on performance mode. I also think there are settings to do that automatically for you. What is your interest in this machine? You looking to buy something in 2021 or just curious?
There is always something new around the corner. Just have to pull the trigger at some point. I love this laptop. Its gamec perfectly, I edit my videos, it's sweet.

That's strange. It does suck when you get a new laptop and somethings wrong with it. I'm not having wifi issues so I'm hoping its not affecting to many of them. What did you get in replacement? Same laptop or something different?
Thanks for the feedback. Just to help me for future improvements, what do you mean by "name them"? Do you mean something different than port names on the spec list? or labeling them with a graphic right on the laptop itself? I will defiantly consider your input on future videos..
So nvidia made this max q and max p stuff confusing, they needed better communication on this. Basically the old max q was worse imo, and the new Dynamic Boost 2.0 max q is better, which is what this is. Check the mining part of the video, after the first mining test there is a Dynamic Boost 2.0 overview. Basically the new max q says that the GPU can overpower itself by up to 20w, beyond its normal power. It does this by taking power from the cpu. Generally this works well because even in gaming usually the cpu isnt doing enough to need its full power. So the GPU can take extra without short changing the cpu.
Also, the laptop manufacturers are not doing a good job telling us the max q watts vs the normal rated watts. Like, as an example maybe the norm tdp is 105, but maybe it can max boost to 125. So its the 125 part that many manufactures aren't doing a good job of telling us. Even on this laptop that I bought, I don't know an easy way to find my max q boost gpu power, I'm remembering reading something month's ago that tells me its 125. But I'm not 100% on that because its not easily found. I can say, even shown in the video, this laptop plays cyberpunk at max ultra raytracing settings smoothly. So imo it's a beast. What sort of purpose r u looking for in a laptop? You a gamer or creator or something else?
On Ryzen 7 3700 and RTX 3060 I can get better performance. On Ultra Cyberpunk 2077 is unplayable since the i7 temperature gets to high. The issue is a crappy CPU and AI cooling management not the RTX 3080. Again, Cyberpunk 2077 using Raytracing Ultra settings is unplayable in 2k because high CPU temperature and reboots.
I'm not sure that tdp includes the extra watts from Dynamic Boost 2.0 factor in the new version of MaxQ. I believe with DB2.0 this laptop maxes ar 125W GPU power.
Yea, having the 3080 go to say, 135 or 145W, heat up the laptop interior and causing the CPU to thermal throttle is much better! I get it. I prefer not having all that extra heat. I actually bought the 11th gen I9, 16 gig 3080, 32gig version of this and it is a beast. Was going to get an Asus for about a grand less till I heard that 8 gigs of ram are SOLDERED on the motherboard so you lose dual channel if you want more than 16 gigs of ram. That was unacceptable to me. Been playing Fallouts, Skyrim Se with 4 k textures, ENB, tons of mods on an LG 1440 34" IPS 1ms wide at native res and it is unbelievable. Pinch me, this is a laptop? I will give up a few frames for a cooler laptop that has that gorgeous OLED, and beast of an i9. Laptops are about trade offs. Best thing, it doesn't look like a kid's toy transformer.
@@tzviasegal3003 I am planning on gettin a I7 11800H 3070 Max Q 8GB version with 1 TB SSD do you think this will be a very good performance ? Also i plan ot run in on 4k QLED s it powerful enough to go above 60 fps in 4k?
@@radoslavtsvetanov3586 Based on what I know about my laptop, it will be limited by cooling. As you mention 'above 60 fps' that implies the laptop will be on a table hooked up to an external monitor. Use a laptop stand or one with fans on it to be sure and give the laptop enough airflow. And of course, the game you are playing, how modded it is for eyecandy, for example is going to affect what you ultimately get for FPS. Half of the underside of that laptop is mesh for airflow, Think about why Gigabyte did this. Keeping it from throttling is the key to getting the most it can give, and that means airflow. Yes there are versions of the laptop GPUs that go to, what is it, 135w instead of 105, and you may get a few more fps out of it, but it's heating up the inside of that laptop more so cooling becomes more critical and you end up with a noisier laptop. Too many variables for me to just say yes or no; 4k at high FPS is a lot of data to ask of a laptop video card that has heat and voltage constraints..
how are the thermals

I should also mention, for normal use, not gaming or mining, it ranges between 39 and 41C on the GPU which is normal i think even for a PC.

On 4k totally unplayable. 3-4 minutes then reboot cause by CPU overheating protection.
