Oh wow, I never thought you would discuss such a subject. Thank you. I am going through peri-menopause, and it's pure hell even with HRT and anti-depressant...
Hey, Steven, I would love it if you would interview Dr. Ken Berry and/or Dr. Anthony Chaffee on the carnivore diet. I’m in a group with Dr. Berry that has thousands of members. We are getting our health back at all ages beyond our wildest dreams. This could help so many people in your audience. Thank you!
Thank you again for another great interview. I really appreciate the fact that you do your homework and read the material related to your guests. There’s nothing worse than interviewing knowledgeable guests without proper preparation- makes you look like an incompetent idiot. (Unfortunately, there are a few RUclipsrs whom you’ve interviewed 🙄who make this elementary mistake 😐).
My wife is 49 and perimenopausal but doing all the right things to deal with it, exercise, diet, sleep, hormones. We talk about it a lot and even discussed this podcast while soaking in the tub together this evening. It is hard to know if you are doing everything you can but we talk and I do my best to support her. Guys need to step up and be more supportive and understanding. Thanks for discussing this topic.
She is blessed to have you as a husband!!Menopause symptoms come on fast, are worrying and frustrating, and cannot be “cured” with A magic pill or HRT. God bless and much more success with her knowledge and healing and your patience ❤❤❤
I started menopause at 53 and did it without any supplements. I fasted often. I was also very aware not to fan myself when having hot flashes - especially in the corporate environment where I worked (also with family) because of the stigma. I was told at 56 that I am getting too old to be promoted. Started my own companies at 59😊 healthy and energetic at 61 and going strong.
Too old to be promoted 💔 Things women have to contend with. I'm so happy you started your own company. That's where I'm headed too, 51, and I no longer have the patience for corporate stuff and performance reviews 😅 All the best to you.
I'm the same! I'm 60 now, and had the symptoms at age 56-57. Fasting got rid of it. Also a healthy lifestyle. Menopause is a natural transition. Our bodies were perfectly designed to go through it all without taking artificial hormones.
When I was going through menopause, my husband told me to "fix it" and to "stop making excuses" , that "other women" didn't experience the same things that I was experiencing. There was no compassion or empathy no matter how much I tried to explain what was happening inside of me. We are no longer married. Maybe if I told him it was the equivalent of his testicles shrinking to nothing, he would have been more receptive.
Feel free to add to his “testicles shrinking to nothing” that he stops ejaculating. Since we lose the ability to make babies why shouldn’t they. That’ll get their attention and quick.
Same. Mine told me I was making it all up so I didn’t have to go get a job. It came on just as the last children were leaving homeschool. I’d have divorced him too, God took him away. But it hurt at the time. Grateful to have moved beyond. I’ve reprogrammed my mind. I got you.
I am sorry. Thank you for sharing. At least I don’t feel alone now. I am still trying to figure this out and try different hormone therapy. I am sorry. hang in there. 🙏🏻
I started crying at minute 2 hearing a young man talk about how important it is for all of us to understand menopause and what women are experiencing. I’ve never seen your interviews but you now got my attention. I’m a big fan of DR Haver! Thank you for this interview and your thoughtfulness as a man! ❤
And I have made the choice to start some kind of birth control to help me through this it's terrible hormones every where up down , smh hopefully it will be soon
I started perimenopause at 37, then like a text book countdown I started dropping one menstrual cycle a year for ten years. 47 was apparently "early" to be fully in menopause and my doc recommended a bone scan as it could increase my risk of osteoporosis. Interestingly, my bones were strong and perfectly fine and the lady who did the scan told me she sees this in many overweight women like me, and its one of the very few advantages to being heavier. Basically, we are constantly weight lifting due to the excess body mass we carry, so our bones are stronger. Im carrying an excess of around 30lbs. Im now 52, and have suffered what I would call challenging, but not crippling symptoms. I have never felt the need to take HRT as I didnt ever feel that debilitated by menopause. I had almost every "symptom" but luckily to a lesser degree than some ladies who I know struggle terribly. I feel absolutely fabulous at 52, most symptoms have now left and Im loving this new phase. I have made a few lifestyle and nutritional changes that Im happy to share if it helps others..... Vit D daily - 4000iu Marine collagen suppliment in my morning coffee - this has had a very beneficial impact of the aches and pains for sure. Stopped using so many chemicals on my body, quit dying my hair and went silver and started making my own organic soaps as a hobby. I use the 16.8 fasting routine which has helped my gut massively. Daily serving of blueberries and apple with a good prebiotic natural yoghurt. Eat good quality meats and make a lot of bone broth and collegen based soups from organic animal joints. Grow my own veg - (I dont have a huge space but I try my best) Walk at least 30 mins a day, mostly more than that with my dog. Limit alcohol for special occasions, also watch caffine intake. Drink enough water (this makes such a difference to my mental clarity) Get a good night's sleep, have a good sleep routine (I dont have a TV in my bedroom) Dont watch the news - its always bad and depressing. Practice gratitude, count your blessings in life. Get out with friends, laugh, and certainly NEVER say "Im getting old" Most of all ladies, keep a positive mindset as much as you can, we can often talk ourselves into feeling low by our attitudes to what we are facing. Im here as proof that there is a fabulous life after menopause, its not a "decline" , its a freedom!!
Congratulations on you. But the point is that is your body . It's very personal as your story tells. Your advice because your body succeeded will not help another women's body as we are all made different . But enjoy. It's a crap shoot
After 35, realized I do not tolerate the hair colour..stopped and for a while I just have highlights. I had some problems with a knee, felt tired, stressed, had delays in period..I ignored most of the things , did not give importance, did not thought much about them. Then , around 40 gained a lot of weight. 60lbs, along a year.. thought is the change in lifestyle, a more sedentary life. 2022 started gym again, abandoned. Beginning of 2023 , so, 3 years overweight, went again , lost weight , lifting weights, gained strength. .. discovered that I am less tolerant to people, started to cut many from my life, changed a lot, had hot flushes, for a bone graft had some blood tests and had vit D very low..then , I realized that my period is gone.. missing for months. Only then I put all together , thought about menopause and realized that I knew nothing , I was not ready.. I entered in another stage of my life and had no clue. 44 . Thank you for your advice. Will make bone broth and seek collagen powder ...bought vitamins . I think the face saw major changes and do not think is from losing weight..but, loss of collagen and estrogen.. I woke up looking to an older self, overnight.
@@carliebeau5329-I think if women would actually DO the things this woman is doing they too would feel better. Most just are complaining because they don’t want to change their lives to handle it.
My spouse and I are separating after 25 years of marriage and 28 years together. Why? I boil it down to menopause. I helped him through a decade of Lyme Disease issues; I was his "patient advocate" to the point that doctors and I emailed each other to help with his care, from fitness, diet, and naturopath to specialists. I'm a year into menopause, and I'm "too much." It breaks my heart.
I can't take drugs, highly reactive but I have been using bio identical progesterone from wellsprings. USA company. Not licensed in UK been available over 30years no side effects. It's given me a bit of life back. Also a estrogen progesterone version.
Most marriages are like that. That’s why in some places in the world girls started not getting into marriages or partnerships cause they foresee the end.
No you are not, the same thing applies to men, there is a physical and cognitive decline in men, and eventually they no longer are part of the workforce.
seWhen I heard this question coming from a doctor, I even thought it was strange, since the issue is not that women matter during their childbearing years. If they undergo fertility treatments, they are not or are not. But the real issue isn't even the person, it's the money. So, no, it doesn't matter at any age. The way any crime against women is not even taken into account shows this.
Peri menopause has stolen the last few years of my life - I tried EVERYTHING (diet, exercise, cold showers, CBT, acupuncture, psychedelics, breath work, tms....) to battle the anxiety, depression, physical pain, brain fog, insomnia, etc. - the answer from the medical system was a heavy dose of Ativan and anti-depressants which I didn't want. I lost my social life and couldn't function at work and cried constantly. Thanks to reading Dr. Havers book, I've started on HRT and I am starting to feel like I'm getting back to myself for the first time in years. I am furious that the system wasn't equipped to help me sooner but am so hopeful for the future . Thank you Stephen for using your platform to shine a spotlight on this issue and thank you Dr Haver for arming me with the information I needed to advocate for myself!
My wife asked me to listen to this podcast. I am glad I did. I will do what I can to be more supportive of her but I hope the medical industry does the same.
That is the Best Gift you could give to your wife! Listening to the podcast. My husband watched a Dr Phil episode on menopause. I believe it's saving our marriage. When I told my husband buckle up...we're in for a bumpy ride😅 He looked at me with fear. The toughest part for me is the anxiety that he doesn't love me....but then he does something sweet and with empathy and my world is back to normal.
HRT is fabulous. I’m in the best shape. I feel 30 again. I’m building muscle again, I’m sleeping, my skin is better, I have less inflammation. I’m happy and I feel powerful. I love it!
I had only one symptom of menopause and that is my periods simply stopped. My doctor did blood tests and asked me if I wanted hormones. I said, "No". I was around 51years old. To this day, I have never had a hot flash or any other problems. I just turned 80 years old.
@@Judith, what is your diet? Do you eat lots of animal fats? That’s supposed to really help. The carnivore women are sailing through menopause _without_ any HRT! I recommend everyone listen to Elizabeth Bright and Lisa Wiedeman (carnivore Doctor). They recommend LOTS of saturated animals fats-like the equivalent of 1-2 sticks of butter a day. Your adrenals, thyroid and hormones all need saturated fat!s ❤
@@PeaceIsYeshua I have skipped breakfast since I was a child, except for one cup of coffee, a sandwich for lunch and a dinner from scratch. I eat meat, but prefer fish. Lots of olive oil. My family is from Spain and I tend to prepare foods from Spain. Also, my favorite food is chocolate!
I'm a 47 year old woman and I've never cried so hard watching a podcast. All of the unnecessary confusion, pain, isolation, cruelty, it's criminal. Thank you, both of you, for raising the bar. ❤
I agree. Its time that we all wake up to the truth and realize that our government and our medical system was not designed to keep us happy or healthy or to protect us from unnecessary suffering unless they could profit by doing so. Hiding the truth and causing suffering is essential for their business to be successful. The system is rigged so that they can profit off of our ignorance. None of this was a mistake, no, it was all intentional. I'm 66 a nutritionist and just retired from the UC Hospital's Center for Women's Health and have been watching this happen for decades. We can't depend on MDs anymore, except to provide catastrophic care, or the government. We can only depend on ourselves and therefore we must educate ourselves and our children extremely well. There's a lot of good books out there and a lot of educational material including alternative options for health and happiness including the infinite power of our consciousness. They do not want you to know the the truth or to find the answers, but all the answers are out there, you just need to know where to look and many of those wonderful healers are right here on RUclips! I wish you well & encourage much reading! 🤗🌸🌿
@@innagotavita6117 no she’s not she’s a professional in the field so she sees thousands of women. I’m pretty sure she knows a lot more than you do. You clearly were lucky swinging from your chandelier and not having problems but many women don’t just sail through it

The big problem I have with your comment is that you are praising someone who is untrustworthy and unreliable. Just look at his other videos, and if you are honest and objective you will clearly see that he often gives the spotlight to quacks and conspiracy theorists. Such a person cannot be deemed as a trusted source of information. This particular woman, however, may be legitimate. I don't know, so I reserve judgement on her. Finally, another black mark against the CEO guy is that he's the face of Heul, which as you probably know is junk food masquerading as cheap health food. If you truly want to be healthy, eat natural foods, not chemical concoctions like Heul.
@@dBarb1999there is one - Mel Robbins does an interview with Dr Mary Claire Haver. We can still appreciate that a guy is trying to help men understand this without having to be rude.
This stuff is life-changing. I asked for help and guidance. I felt so lost and out of control. Thank you for your help. I have been a bedside nurse for 20 years. I have spent my life helping care for people yet when I needed help, no one was there for me. I cried out for help. Your videos landed on my laptop.
Had I not found these videos I would be convinced that I was dying. Heart palpitations, migraines, itchy skin, insomnia, pure rage, crying spells, the list goes on and on! I’m 43 and I literally do not recognize myself. Thank God for RUclips… because the 800.00 a month that I pay for health insurance is absolutely USELESS! My husband needs to watch this with me. I think he thinks I’m crazy 😌
The insurance game is busted!! I hate insurance controls how your visit is coded, if they will pay for it and that goes for medicine/supplements too. Seems the only reason to have it is for meds and catastrophic events. Otherwise it is a bust.
I've had multiple issues related to endometriosis and perimenopause - nearly everything that helped or fixed issue was not covered by insurance - in many ways insurance is a big fat scam imo
Try a fruit only diet for a month and see the difference in EVERYTHING in your life - look for Dr Michael Morse ( you tube shut him down - look for Aunothen on RUclips - when I did this health cleanse with fruit only it was the 1st symptom to go - basically after a month on just fruits u can eat add salads veg etc - main thing is to eat everything raw - nuts an hour or 2 apart from the above - don't mix fruit and veg eat an hour apart too - u can eat as much fruit as is needed to satisfy u - look them up great info - great longevity etc ❤
I came here because I turned 58 yesterday. I am at the height of my misery with menopause. But instead of the symptoms diminishing, they continue to get worse. This started already 14 years ago with missed periods. Now I can’t sleep for more than three hours at a time because of the Inferno that breaks out inside when I try. I sweat so hard some nights. I change pajamas three times. Even my socks and my pillow are soaked. I have always been denied estrogenbecause I have a heart condition. But now I’m demanding it. I’m going to die from the sleep loss if something else doesn’t get me first. Please pray for me I can’t stop crying.
Oh sweetheart. Im so sorry. Ive had insomnia that bad but Im not meno yet so dreading it if my sleep will get worse. Pls dont leave it even if youre too tired to follow up doc app. As youre putting your heart under pressure if you dont sleep well. I hope everything works out for you xx
As a 34 year old woman going through peri-menopause (brought on early due to chemotherapy 10 years ago) I appreciate this so much. This year has been the hardest of my life and every day is a fight against my own mind to just stay alive. Thank you for seeing the importance of this EXTREMELY necessary conversation. It literally saves lives to talk about it
Are you in the uk? I couldn’t recommend newsom health enough, they’ve been fantastic to my wife it’s a shame so much health care is private these days but that’s the way the world is turning
@@youngwt1 NO its not inevitable that there is thsi private/public healthcare two tier system,we need to fight for our NHS and make sure we don't end up with an American type healthcare system. If you are happy with that then think about all those who fought for the NHS and trained in the NHS,without the NHS we do not have a functioning society and go back to Victorian England...are you really happy with that !!!
I can relate to this too, I'm 31 and also went through chemo 10 years ago. I was told I'd likely go through menopause around the age of 30, I brushed it off and didn't think it would be that bad. I completely underestimated just how difficult it would be! I hope you're doing okay ❤
When I first hit menopause, I actually gained 18 lbs and couldn't lose it for the longest time. Tried pills, vitamins, and just made things worse. Now, I'm using the Aspect Health sensor, watching my diet, keeping tabs on my hormones, and even doing a bit of exercise, even though I'm already 53 yo
Six months ago I began seeing a functional medicine doc and it has been a game changer. Finally someone taking me seriously and Im now on HRT! Of course, the expensive health insurance I pay a premium on every month will not cover my doc visits. Proof that the current system wants us drug dependent and chronically ill.
.... "even doing a bit of exercise". I can only recommend resistance training with weights (can easily be done at home) and walks. Both changed my life.
I’m so thankful for this video. I turned 45 this year and peri-menopause hit me like a brick. Starting in January was my first menstrual cycle change after being like clockwork my whole life. Starting the end of February I started to bleed - then I kept bleeding. I gained like 40lbs, can’t sleep, digestion was crap, felt like crap, and quite honestly felt more mentally out of sorts. In total this year I’ve spent 9 months with no break of menstruation. By April I went in to my OB for my Pap smear with the thought they were going to check my hormones at the visit as I specifically noted on the appointment of my never ending period. During that visit they weren’t even going to do it!! I’m like, are you kidding? This is not normal and something is wrong. I forced them begrudgingly to order the labs, while being brushed off to be told “well your heading in to menopause and this is just what happens”. Such horse shit that I have to advocate for myself to get care. Wouldn’t you know it, I have extremely high estrogen (which, I know is opposite of menopause) but maybe someone else has gone through what I’m still going through. Basically to sum up my entire year: I’ve had multiple biopsies and ultrasounds, I have/had polyps in my endometrial lining of my uterus, I’ve had one procedure to have it all cleaned out, they put me on 10mg of progesterone, and all of that didn’t do crap. I’ve been in at least 5 times this year and every time they say my only option is bloody birth control or having a hysterectomy. I tried to ask them about some sort of hormone therapy or if they even checked to see if my testosterone is out of whack with the rest. I’m changing my provider in the new year since Kaiser has epically let me down. The audacity of any doctor telling me that my condition is just something I’ll have to deal with until I hit actual menopause? Bleeding every fucking day for like the next 5-10 years? Or having my uterus removed? Are you fucking kidding me? The medical profession is beyond letting us down, demand for your self ladies, don’t let them sell you on that “well it’s just apart of you getting older” b.s.
I’ve come to the realisation that main stream medicine is utterly clueless when it comes to women’s hormones. In fact I think it scares most doctors. You have to self advocate and on many occasions self prescribe. Thank god for the internet.
Good for you for not letting up 👏🏼. I went with similar symptoms to my doctor 3 yrs ago and she said my only options were birth control, uterine ablation or hysterectomy. I thought, surely those are not my ONLY options - she also didn’t test my hormones or even ask about my diet & lifestyle. I left disgusted in the medical system once again. I’ve since been researching a lot on my own and just trying things to see what might help, so far finally finding some relief this year of many symptoms with a low carb/high fat & protein, meat heavy, whole food animal based diet - will continue to advocate for myself and experiment on myself - I won’t settle for their “only options”.
Honestly, I’m done with the medical field. I’ve been so poorly treated, even by female doctors. Unless my leg falls off and needs to be sewn back on, I’m happy finding natural and intuitive solutions for my health. I’m 48 and have been dealing with perimenopause for almost ten years with many horrible to bear symptoms. Yet, I’ve had more success with kundalini yoga and increasing nutrition than getting help from a doctor. I appreciate that Dr. Haver is taking this natural part of life seriously, as the medical field has let down women for a long time. It’s nice to know that I’m not alone, but I’m also done looking for answers within the medical system.
Yep! Western medicine is sometimes, (not always), good for treating pain, illness, diseases, infections, viruses, but it’s NOT good for physical, mental or emotional wellness. When I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and experienced a year of crippling pain and narcolepsy from the pain, my rheumatologist diagnosed me l, and said my only options were anti-depressants and pain killers like Vicodin… for the rest of my life!! I respectfully declined, went home, did my own research, tried different supplements and therapies, and for the last 10+ years, I’ve had zero symptoms of fibromyalgia. Same thing happened after I got hit by a DUI. 4 very prestigious doctors couldn’t help me, but 1 female reiki master healed my mind body and soul. I thought meditation and reiki was nonsense until I tried it. I never looked back. My takeaway is never settle when it comes to your own health.
I’m 54 and just about one year ago I looked for a new obgyn because the one I had before didn’t listen and didn’t help with all my struggles with menopause. My new doctor prescribed me HRT and my life has changed dramatically for the better. It’s absolutely frustrating the amount of doctors who know nothing about menopause and who gaslight women about it’s symptoms. Enough is enough. Amazing interview, thanks!!
I have had a couple of conversations about hormones with my OBGYN this year and he doesn't even seem to understand what I am talking about- it feels like the blind leading the blind and the best education I am actually receiving as a 45yo woman is from Stephen and his guests! I am so grateful that this is finally becoming a topic of discussion 🩵
This is why my wife and I only see women doctors who are competent. Women get treated like animals by most male doctors. Like we want to help you but not put too much effort into it. It passed me off when my wife would go to the er, and they wouldn't listen to her if I'm not there to speak up for her. We all have mothers, and most of us have daughters, so why don't we treat women like equals? It is mind-blowing.
Just amazing that a man on a leading podcast is talking about this I absolutely love Stephen for this because I'm sure a lot of his core audience aren't very interested in this topic so it was very brave of him. As a 48 year old woman this was truly a fantastic episode for me ❤❤❤❤
Dr. Haver: For the last couple of years, I’ve been telling my male doctors that if their testicles just dried up over night, they would also feel very ill physically & emotionally. Meno is precisely that. I’m glad you put that out there on this interview because it is 100% true!
Amen to that! I know two men that have gone through prostate cancer treatment that are experiencing basically menopause and/or post menopause. They get hot flashes because they are on hormone suppressant drugs to ward of reoccurring cancer. They also feel weaker and have lost muscle mass just like women do when not on hormone therapy. The men you are speaking of should connect with a man that has survived prostate cancer and they will have a better understanding of what we go through as women if our health is neglected and marginalized over the duration of our lives starting with perimenopause onward by the health care community. I assure you survivors of prostate cancer wish they could have their hormones back.
yeah but it's not "male" docs who are the only problem. In fact some of them are very clued in - I was "saved" by a male gynecologist after endless rounds with my primary doc and seeing two female docs (one was an endocrinologist!) who were apparently clueless, too. It's a crapshoot ime.
I have been battling the medical system for two full years and been to every specialist in Vanderbilt Medical. I have every single symptom Dr. Haver lists. I even had a cardiac ablation because I was experiencing Afib last year. The monthly cycle of vertigo, frozen shoulder, ringing in my ears, brain fog, insulin resistance, not sleeping, and gained 40 lbs NOT eating more. I’ve had zero alcohol or caffeine in over a year and still trying to get back to normal but now my anxiety is sky high too. Our system & education has to change. THANK YOU DR. HAVER! 😢
Same here!!! I turned 56 this year. Had been having menopausal symptoms at around age 48. It started with sleepless nights , some brain fog, hair changes and also noticed that when I woke up the next morning, my side of the bed would feel as though I had a heated mattress. Those symptoms would last for about a week and go away for days or maybe a couple of months but I brushed them off bc they weren't that bothersome. And so one day I went to see my GYN which we worked in the same dept. During my annual exam, I told her the problems I was experiencing and she brushed them off and told me that I was too young to be going through menopause. I looked confused 😕 bc at that point I didn't know what was wrong with me. A few years went by then I was in my 50s and more symptoms were coming and the ones I'd had first were getting worse. I finally went back to my GYN and told her about it again and she wrote scripts for hormone patches and progesterone. She never once mentioned doing any blood work to check my hormone levels 😑 and my anxiety seems to be coming on every day. I feel like I'm trapped in my own body without help and support from someone who is supposed to be helping in situations like mine. And I find little to none. It's disheartening and frustrating 😒 and I will be looking for someone who will listen and is willing do their job of caring for their patient. I suffer in silence a lot and try to calm myself when anxiety is really high. I don't want to suffer a heart attack or end up with a heart condition bc of all of what I go through. But it does help telling my story. And hopefully some good may come out of it 😇
They really need to talk about cortisol/Dhea levels....the high range is just a nightmare... But no one talks about it. Bloods need to be done to check this stress hormone.obe
I had similar problems. I was in menopause at 42. Huge issues. Insane hot flashes. Night sweats. Head aches. Anxiety. Not sleeping. Joint aches. Stiffness. Crazy symptoms. I was lucky my OBG was my age and had known me for 20 years. HRT really helped me.
I was diagnosed with positional vertigo when I turned 40. After that, every year was a new thing. I never related any of that to peri menopause until I started experiencing the night sweats.
Summary: HRT, vitamin d, fasting (16:8), fibre, protein, creatine, strength training. What a great Dr and Stephen thank you for such an informative chat
Peri menopause was hell on earth for me. Insomnia, chronic fatigue, extreme brain fog, body aches and pains, inability to regulate my mood, anxiety attacks, suicidal thoughts to name a few. I was utterly terrified as I had no idea what was going on. It was a psychologist who said to me you are at the severe end of peri menopause. Get on HRT now. HRT has been a total game changer. I only wish I had gone on it when my symptoms started at around 46. It wasn’t until I could barely function and was ready to end it all that I went on HRT at 49. And then I felt so ignorant about not knowing what was going on in my body. Thank you so much for speaking out on this issue. One thing find quite upsetting is that it’s not just men who don’t understand or support. Some of the harshest judgement and dismissal has come from women who had an easier journey through peri menopause / menopause. Not everyone has the same experience.
Woke up early morning after gnawing on my jar so hard with severe anxiety (mind racing) and I told my husband that I will end my life after my child goes off to college if I am still suffering with this debilitating anxiety. Peri and menopause age is the #1 age range women commit suicide and get divorced. HRT (specifically estrogen) literally saved my life. I thank this doctor so much for the work she does and this channel having this very important conversation.
I started menopause at 45. I have been fit and in good shape and health all of my life before menopause. Life has been a downhill battle since menopause, I have had every symptom that was mentioned in this program so far. I literally thought I was going crazy and everyone else thought I was making it up. Thanks for shining some light on the elephant in the room.
Excellent content. I’m 54 and literally was made to feel dumb by my OBGYN said “calories in calories out period. There are no exceptions” when I told her I keep expanding with weight but have made no changes. I’m glad this conversation is changing so we can find the right answers
That is why when I sought out a new Gyno, my list of specs consisted of being female, being close to my age and specialized in menopause symptoms and treatments. I am very happy with my choice. She gets it!
The "calories in calories out" model is sooo obsolete and any doc saying that is the ignoramus...not you! Far too many have not got the sense to realize that the body is an incredibly intricate feedback system that constantly adapts and changes. Sadly, they lack the humility to admit that they dont know how it all works...
A huge THANK YOU to this young man for not shying away from this conversation! Thank you for discussing this topic! You really have no idea how much this means to your female viewers!
My mum started acting like a bear with a sore head and was in her late 40s at the time. My dad and i took it for as long as we could, thinking it might just be SAD (it was during the winter months) but eventually it was clear something was seriously wrong and we had to stage a kind of 'intervention' and make her go to the doctors. I'm sure she was peri-menopausal too but this was her thyroid and she was VERY deficient. There are so many things that can hit you at this time of life, like a brick. Be nice to middle aged ladies. They are probably hanging on by a thread for one reason or another.
@@heatherhall3452Seasonal Affective Disorder. People get it during the winter when the sun isn't up as much and they stay inside more. Some people in really hot places can get it in the summer if they get reclusive to stay out of the heat.
I'm in tears. My mother died of breast cancer and I have been terrified of HRT for this reason. My meno smptoms are all over the place. Still have not passed the one year no period mark. I've blamed myself for my weight gain, depression, mood swings since the pandemic. My first call after the holidays will be to find a provider who specializes in menopause.
My mother died in 2014 from uterine cancer believed to be caused by HRT. She basically made me swear on her death bed I would not take hormones. So went through it all natural. I suffered through perimenopause and now have been in full menopause now at 58. I spent years of horrible sleep, weight gain, skin issues, etc. I still have symptoms. I wish I knew more.
I honestly wouldnt take this doctor's advice. HRT is not healthy for you at all. I would try whatever natural method is out there. My mom is 65 and doesnt take any of these HRT stuff and she is doing just fine. I am 39 and i know menopause is around the corner maybe and i plan to start working on myself now
I "muscled" through 2 yrs of symptoms before deciding to ask for HRT. 7 months after started and about 60-70% of my symptoms gone, I switched insurance companies. Saw a female doctor who said "I don't practice medicine like that" when I told her I still wanted medicine regardless of the "risks" she was so concerned about. It was insane to hear. Her comments made me feel like I was asking for euthanasia and her "beliefs" were to save me by lengthening my life. I told her I choose quality over quantity. Anyway, I ended up getting a second opinion and will continue my HRT treatment. Doctors are NOT listening to patients. Advocating for ourselves is an uphill battle. Thanks so much for this video!❤
ME TOO, I finally got HRT from Alloy an online team of Drs that will treat you and get you the therapy you need. I am 3 months into HRT at age 67 and I feel like I am 35 again. Running, cycling, weight lifting, building bone mass and sleeping through the night. Plus I feel like having sex again with my very patient husband.
the thing is, every provider have the right to practice "by the book" and the right to deny treatment, you just have to find the one who's in agreement with you
I love your name! I have the French version… Marie-Claire! Thank you for the work that you do! I’m 73 years old and would have benefited from your education on menopause when I was going through it! In the peak of my worse menopause symptoms my ex husband was not supportive as he wasn’t capable as an alcoholic. Our 36 year marriage ended with a horrific episode that he was scaring me with his anger and what I refer to as “the Charles Manson” look in his eyes! I experienced many of these episodes but this time he was very threatening and I ended up calling 911. The police charged him with assault and arrested him! This was 13 years ago. Now I’m realizing with listening to podcast from experts like you that all these years I blamed myself for being the “crazy one”. I live alone and I’m happy and living a healthier life!
I’m a man and I really appreciate you sharing this. My wife is going through a lot of these changes and I am really trying to help her. Thanks soooooooooo much
This young man is remarkable. My hat is off to you for having this conversation and bringing this conversation to the forefront. This needs to be shared and spoken.
I watch this in tears. It hurts so bad. At 45 my cycle gets worst, every symptom, just worst. I walk around feeling horrible and having to smile so the world don't see a erratic person blowing in the breeze. I'm TAKING this help
I’m so glad you are !….honestly HRT made me feel like my old self again ….that I wasn’t crazy, that I hadn’t lost 30 IQ points and that I wasn’t imagining the multitude of symptoms I had when I went into early menopause after surgery at 46 ! you CAN get your life, your mind and your body back ….it may take a while to find the right balance for you- SO don’t give up you’ll feel like your old self again when you find the right support! HRT is such low dose today -the side effects, if any, are so minor in comparison to the psychological and emotional HELL that menopause can be for some people….! So so worth it for me and anecdotally, I can say 95% of the women I know my age.
I know… I had to take matters into my own hands. I looked up a bhrt doc in my city, got an appointment and then he explained all the stuff I needed and why….omg! What a difference it makes when you are balanced again!!!❤❤
Doctor Platt wellness Center Natural Hormone replacement therapy I started with the omega, vitamin d, your magnesium. It saved me from so much pain. I know the pain both mentally, physically, emotionally. Regular doctors and even some to claim to be specialist let me down. I kept searching I found Dr Platt a blessing. I'm not a salesperson. I am someone he helped and can help you. I promise. God Bless
Im a 58 year old woman went through menopause at 54. Had no supplements for support, experienced all the symptoms including hot flushes. Had a fan at work and talked about it weather ppl wanted to hear it or not. I needed to validate myself..that im not going crazy...just doing menopause. Sooo yes...talk about it. People do support each other. Thank you both 🙏
I also went through menopause without any medical help/medication etc. I’m happy I just trusted the process, I am better, worked on my mental health etc. 👌
I’m 50 and was in the medical field for 20 years. I agree with doctor. There is no education on perimenopause or menopause. I have hypothyroid and autoimmune and I’m now realizing I have been suffering with perimenopause and thought it was my other conditions. Watching this video has been life changing. I’m now open to discuss HRT with my healthcare provider and put more emphasis on strength training. I have learned so much from Dr. Haver. Thank you for helping 1.2 billion suffering women.
Dr. Haver is the sole person who started me realizing I may be dealing with peri-menopause and gave me the courage to advocate for myself about it. I got myself a bone density test when my obgyn refused and found I have osteoporosis at 42! I’ve since switched doctors to a menopause certified practice. It’s night and day!
It's about time this conversation was had. Women do suffer in silence. This issue is more taboo than being Republican, gay, and into S&M. So tired of women being shamed for being women. So tired of women being shamed for ageing. To the interviewer: thank you so much for being bold and brave, diving into this thought provoking topic, and asking poignant questions. To the doctor: you are a heroine ❤️.
It’s the USA where aging is pretty much a disease and not a normal part of life. There’s a double standard out there in work places too, as older women are more apt to be dismissed from jobs compared to men. The issue is with a youth, looks, and money obsessed society. You must create your own value as you age in this nation in order to get any respect!
Thank you sooo much for this! I am 50 years old. I began HRT 3 months ago. It has helped me sooo much! In addition, open conversation with my husband has helped too. Love him for it! ❤ I have managed to talk about it with humour! I look in the mirror and smile!! Lots of affirmations. Again, thank you for this.
I gained 30 pounds, night sweats, depression, anxiety, hair loss, lack of motivation, lack of energy. nightmare scenario. doctors gave me anti depressants, and anti anxiety meds. never helped me with hormones. it ruined my life. family thought I was crazy. this should not have to happen in the 21st century.
The only thing that has helped me was weekly fasting along with daily yoga and meditation. I have learned to accept I'm getting older and will have to be more careful with my lifestyle.
Same but I've gained 50lbs since I hit menopause at 50 yrs old and now turning 60 in a few months...drs treat, you like your crazy and want to give you antidepressants and anxiety meds or I know women told they needed anti psychotic meds...it's awful! Not sleeping sweats, weight gain , extreme fatigue, brain fog, body pain on and on
This is one of the most amazing interviews that I have had the privilege to watch. Thank you so very much for bringing the topic of menopause to light. I am 62 and was very unfortunate to have been married for 37 years to a man that was completely insensitive to any and all health issues that I experienced. Perimenopause and menopause for me were not only a physical nightmare, but an emotional one as well. I tended to keep to myself anything that I was experiencing, as even the Doctors often labeled most issues as “unexplained” or “in your head”. I suffered decades with severe and often debilitating endometriosis until I was finally diagnosed through a laparoscopy in my 40’s, even then, my treatment options were slim and my ex-husband could have cared less as he blamed anything that I was experiencing as me either having cramps or a hot flash. I pray the generations of young women going forward are treated with more dignity and better understanding and treatment than I was.
😢 Going through this right now. I've been searching for the right help and my world has been upside down due to parimenopause. Thank you so much for this informative video. ❤❤❤
I've been going through it since I was around 45 and I'm nearly 50 now. It is and has been horrendous! Mood swings, low mood off the scale, hot flushes, cold sweats, weight gain. As you say, no one talks to us about it and no one warns us of what is coming.
I’m married to a gynecologist and I had do advocate for myself both to him and my endocrinologist. I found myself apologizing for my moods when I could physiologically not control how my body was reacting to my environment. Finally went to a woman clinic and HRT is awesome
@@crystalmasters8582 Most male doctors egos get in the way of them being good doctors. I only go to female doctors at this point in my life. Not all women are good doctors, but it's much easier to find a smart, motivated, good listening female doctor than a male one.
As a 45 year old woman seeing early symptoms of perimenopause and other issues, I have been spending a lot of time trying to find good information. It's so hard. This is really appreciated. Bravo.
I am now 57. I haven’t felt the same since I went through the menopause. The hot flashes were uncomfortable but bearable…but I suffered from 2 to 3 years of terrible insomnia…crippling anxiety attacks that would happen just as I was falling asleep…a black hole of loneliness, no joy in life, brain fog….and I was teaching and felt like I was too busy to look after myself. I didn’t talk to my husband about the depression and loneliness because I didn’t want to worry him…and I knew it was because of hormone changes and would pass…if I could ride it out. My sympathies with anyone struggling with peri menopause/menopause.
I'm right there with you and understand my journey started at 45, then around 55 got worse, now I'm 57, weight gain, insomnia anxiety depression, I do fast but because I'm diabetic, it xan be tough Migraines have increased body aches, joints I just feel less of a human For those who had mild to no problems God bless you, this has been a very tough journey for me.. God bless those who are being tormented by this change in our lives, my heart goes out to you all..

I go diagnosed as perimenopausal at the age of 36. Here are my symptoms (which might be helpful for some) erratic periods (start early, start late, skipped). Anxiety, heart palpitations, mood swings (one day feeling really low, another day feeling fine, quick to snap, irritable), hot flashes, cold flashes, night sweats, waking up randomly at 3am, itchy skin - including in the ear canals, weight gain around the stomach area, hand tingling, joints and muscle aches, low sex drive, hair growth around chin, neck and upper lip, white noise/ringing in ears, dry or watery eyes, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraines, brain fog, forgetfulness, constipation and diarrhea. HRT is optional - but you should take it if your symptoms are debilitating or you’re self destructive.
Right there with you. My GP is slowly starting to listen but I was also offered anti depressants as a first point of call. There's nothing wrong with my seretonin so it's a totally inappropriate treatment. I tried to buy HRT from boots online but they insist on doctor referral if you are under 45. It's a joke. I'm literally showing up on their door every month until they treat me appropriately. I'm also doing all the holistic stuff, diet and exercise. Thank goodness this information is being shared more!
Thank you for making and sharing this conversation. It’s much needed, spot on and sadly highlighting problems in our society. One request is that please don’t judge women on their ability to handle all these symptoms. They/we are not weak. We all suffering at different levels and have our own way of handling it. Nothing to do with our resilience and strength to cope.
After simply watching the opening moments - I want to scream thank you! Do you have any idea what it means to an aging female to see a young man such as yourself give this topic the attention it deserves? Especially after watching the women I've loved throughout my lifetime struggle without understanding or adequate support. Women have been dying (literally) waiting for this level of acknowledgement, attention, understanding and support.
YeS!!! I have been commenting for some time requesting for Steve to get someone on to talk about Menopause because he has such a huge following and these individuals whom are taking to media platforms to get the subject of menopause and hrt and how it impacts relationships aren't getting the exposure they so desperately need!!!. I almost cried with tears of joy when I saw this video today. THANK YOU STEVE!!!!
Hallelujah, men should understand that it affects all the people around us , not just us . I have been chatting to my son , making him aware for the future , for the lovely lady in his life . I sometimes think I’m going mad ! It’s really frightening.i am on a strict healthy diet , exercise down the gym most days go to bed early , HRT and I still feel I’m treading water .The worse is when I go away and I can’t do these things so much , the wrong food , not so much exercise , any alcohol and interrupted sleep. My irritability returns , lose confidence in myself and lack positivity. It does impact my new relationship, as my partner doesn’t understand what’s going on and I’m quite good at explaining to him what I’m going through .But unfortunately his a different generation and thinks it’s a Womens problem , keep it to yourself .iv even promised not to talk about it any more , to keep the peace .I am sure my divorce had something to do with the menopause and I’m trying my best to not let it affect this new 7 year relationship . Big Thank you Steve ❤️ a very mature conversation,I take my hat off to you . Good luck lady’s your going to need it ❤️❤️🙏 xxxx
The whole "Whining Woman" thing really struck a chord with me. As I hit the menopause I also started to suffer with the symptoms of a Phaeochromocytoma (an adrenal tumour) so my body no longer felt like my own. My GP definitely labelled me as a whiner, I had to have my heart almost stop from the effects of Beta blockers before anyone took me seriously. Doctors need to learn that most women know their own bodies better than them!
Gosh Amanda what an ordeal; bad enuf to be ill and then endure mockery. Glad you shared and it proves that it does pay to do ones own research and shop round for a better doc if the current one is brushing you off. My Mother went through years of distress before a new doc found out she was allergic to eggs. A huge change for the better.
Thanks for sharing this information. It’s still startling how little MDs know about this. They still quote that stupid “evidence” that HRT causes cancer.
I’m so sorry you went through that. Sadly it’s so common. Medical gaslighting is terrible. I went through gaslighting when I had breast cancer at 46. No woman should be brushed off or labeled for wanting her best health.
I watched the entire interview with my husband, who is a medical doctor and a specialist radiologist. He thoroughly enjoyed it and believes it's high time more women pursue the same career path. The interview was incredibly emotional for many women like myself, who still feel young but experience very real symptoms. I appreciate you conducting this interview and hope it brings awareness and assistance to millions of women and men facing similar challenges. Thank you for shedding light on this issue, and I hope more support becomes available. Love will always be the answer in everything we do. Thank you so much! I'm confident that this interview will likely save quite a few lives. It's reassuring to think that there is help available that can restore one's well-being to how it used to be.
I was officially in menopause and went to my female gyno with a laundry list of symptoms that developed over the last couple years like sudden brain fog, hair loss, hot flashes, disrupted sleep, dry eye, belly fat, fatigue, irritability, mood swings, recurrent UTIs, and sudden urinary leakage. I’ve always exercised and been fit, yet suddenly my body felt like it was deteriorating at a rapid rate. My gyno asked what my worst symptom was and I said I was most worried about the brain fog. I thought I was going through early onset dementia it was so bad. She said if that was my worst symptom, then she would not prescribe HRT b/c I LOOKED healthy. What does that have to do with it??? I went back to my male primary care physician and told him everything and he prescribed HRT. I was so thankful my doctor is aware of the fallacies with the WHI study. In a short period of time it has already made such a difference.
The fear and anxiety hit me and I have always had nerves of steel. Especially with driving. It went away after a couple of years. Magnesium tablets and topical magnesium helped and still help now. Takes the edge off.
I didn’t realize how much menopause had negatively impacted my ability to manage stress and my emotions until I went on HRT for temp regulation and sleep issues. It’s been amazingly helpful.
I'm 55 and i went through menopause at 51. I gained 40 lbs, mental health went down the tube, horrible hot flashes and so much more. My doctor told me to take antidepressants to feel better. I said :I've been on antidepressants since I was 16, I want something for menopause!" I had to fight with the doctors until I found a doctor who was willing to give me the patch and a progesterone pill. As soon as I started on those, I immediately improved and soon felt like my old self. The weight hasn't come off. I know I need to do some strength training. Menopause really needs to be talked about. Thank you for this video!
Thank you for sharing. 13 years ago while pregnant I felt not like myself. Kinda sad not really wanting to do anything. Go see obstetrician. She wanted to put me on antidepressants. She said let's nip this in the bud before it turns into post partum. I was like, what!? But I'm not depressed. Left, talked to my friend. She mentioned vitamin D deficiency. So went to see another obstetrician. She checked my d levels. They were very low. She put me on a high dose prescribed Vitamin D. Bam!! I was fixed & started feeling better in no time. I'll never forget that. It's like she was selling antidepressants or She wasn't educated enough or something. Just wanted to share that. And now menopause & the same feeling again.. ugh!
The weight gain is more about eating carbs…. Like white rice, potatoes, flour and sugary snacks. Plus sugar is in everything in America…I’m no doctor but I did the Whole 30 diet. …try it. It’s all online… Trust me it will change how you see your health. Plus you’ll see weight loss.
Meno at 43 now 62.with hrt never gained any weight no cancers better skin and bones compared to my even younger sisters..better sexlife than before.no mood swings no flushes etc. Why i.the hell would you go into antidepressant remedies which are often suicidal never heard a gynecologist give this advice..
Same and if you go through her Info. This is the doctors process. 1st antidepressants. 2nd cholesterol meds cos your cholesterol sky rockets with no dietary changes. Systemic issue with doctors who have no training
My 92 year old nanny mae took HRT until she was 71 and says this is way she is still thriving and out walking every day and has all her mental faculties ✨
@@keekeemyfirstcat8410 What type of HRT are you taking? My Ob-Gyn just prescribed me oral Estradiol and progesterone. I’m a little concerned about blood clots although I’m not a smoker, 55 and in good health
I was shocked by the brutality of it ! I'm someone who usually sucks it up and says nothing, but it's the worst I've ever felt in my life. Next week, I'm asking my doctor to put me back on HRT even though I'm through it bc I never got my energy back and am experiencing a heart issue again that disappeared when I started HRT. I have also heard that women on HRT should stay on it for the rest of their lives. There is too much focus on breast cancer risk as opposed to the many positive benefits of it ! Not only does it protect your heart but it strengthens your bones. My skin was better after than it was before too. I couldn't have gotten through it without HRT. I felt so bad that the fear of breast cancer went right out the window. Everything this woman says resonates with me. I thought I had an incurable disease & that I was going insane from that burden. I had a total hysterectomy at 41, was told to take estrogen for two years and that I didn't need to worry about menopause ! Had I not watched a show on the subject I may still not know ! God bless you for sharing all you know. My daughters roll their eyes when I mention it, but I know they will still be caught off-guard by the severity of it. HRT saved my life.
I’ve been a nurse for 12 years and she’s right…most providers are clueless on this topic, which is why I’m here listening with all of you. God bless this woman and God bless my husband for putting up with my MAN-O-pause (zero desire).
I believe my wife 47 has been going through this for a about 6 months now, we have be very close and married for nearly 25 years, we now are like strangers she hardly looks at me and I'm sleeping on the sofa, my frustration and lack of connection makes makes me angry anxious and I actually cried at work a few days ago, I'm a stand up man but my best friend and life partner is 99% gone , I'm trying very hard to understand buying her roses telling her I'm here for her etc but she's not even interested in going for a coffee with me, I'm trying hard to control the resentment of detachment but its extremely powerful mix of emotions from my end, I love and miss my best friend the mother of my children my wife, I'm on my own with this in real pain, it seems selfish but the effect of this seems to be hurting me more . My beautiful wife has lost who she was , its like her shine has gone for me only and work etc she is her normal self, We used to spend every single minute after work together loving our bubble just us even holding hand feeling blessed for what we have, she struggles to even make eye contact now I feel iv lost my wife .
I can't thank you enough for doing this episode. I'm 46 and have felt alone and ashamed for all of the symptoms I've been experiencing. Perimenopause has made me feel less mentally capable at work, emotionally overwhelmed in life, and betrayed by my body due to the physical changes.I feel like I've been doing battle on multiple fronts and this discussion gives me hope that it could be manageable.
Yup I’m 46 and very peri menopausal, mainly the brain fog is unbelievable. I have heard women talk about the brain fog and I thought nothing of it. Now I have it I can’t believe how awful it is!
Same at 54! I was going through all sorts of crazy in my Mid 40’s just finding out that I was in Peri . Now I just sit in my bed in pain! Headache, Chest and Breast pain, Rib cage pain, feels like gall stones, numbness in my hands and legs, ears ringing, dry eyes, bowel changes, can’t focus, feel just defeated at times. Body Aches that feels like I’m dying on top of Fibromyalgia. I say Lord Jesus touch us all and bring healing and comfort.
With the little bit I read about it, I have trouble believing periminopausing is an actual thing. Most of the symtoms are issues that pop up as a result of a lifestyle that isn't healthy for the body and mind, resulting in physical problems that resemble the menopause. But the definition is so damn vague that almost every adult falls in it. This muddles actual science and actual problems. It's merely going to give people an excuse to blame it on a disease and then take some magical pills to 'fix' it (which may relieve symptoms somewhat, but utlimately results in actually making things worse along with causing various other issues).
Thank you, Steven, for asking great questions and letting Dr. Mary talk without interruption; and thank you both for giving a platform to one of the most critical issues for women. It’s vital to change the framework around menopause and give women the dignity of real, informed treatment.
I really liked when she said "it maybe contributing to increase of divorce rate but in a good way". My thought exactly! I thank the universe for having these 5 years of menopause symptoms that no doctor associated with menopause (still mad at the doctors). I was able to confirm that I was living with a very bad partner who did not care for me at all. Just separated 4 months ago and now taking care of my menaupose.
I’m going through this one separated recently I’m in my 40s it’s funny how you’re there for a person but when it’s rivers, the same treatment it’s not given . So now it’s time to take care of myself.
HI, I went through the exact same thing as you stated above. The doctors and family made a mockery out of me. Now I see who cares about me and that is God , Myself and my dog.
I love that example “it’s like if your testicles shrivelled up and died at 51”! Omg that is how I explained having a hysterectomy ie having your testicles removed and most people looked at me with shock. It’s how it literally feels to me. I’m so thankful I found this podcast. It explains everything I feel and so strange I hadn’t put it together because I have an interest in this area and helped my mum when she started having symptoms.
I had my womb removed because of f fibroids. A good thing my overies and fallopian tubes are healthy. I had this done two years ago . I dont have any horror symptoms untill now. I dont take any hormone treatment.
I'm 60 and have been on HRT for 15 years. I will NEVER voluntarily go off it. I also strength train and eat a clean, high-protein diet. But without the hrt it wouldn't make much difference. Without it, I suffered every symptom on the list, on a scale of 11 out of 10. I educated myself when I was going through this and I have advocated for myself with a long line of (sometimes really ignorant) doctors. I live in fear that I will be unable to keep finding doctors willing to prescribe, or that the hormones will no longer be available- because the pharma companies by and large have stopped making them. They want us to be on a whole list of meds for each separate symptom, rather t han just one or two that ABSOLUTELY FIXED EVERYTHING. Women- and everyone who loves a woman going through this- need to kick up a fuss about this and not take no for an answer. It's life or death. Literally. Without my hrt I would have no interest in living. Go back to that hell? Never. Society DOES not value post-fertile women, so we HAVE to value ourselves.
Do you get your HRT through your doctor or do you use an online service? Also do you use bio-identical hormones or synthetic hormones? I’m trying to figure out my own path here because what you’ve gone through with menopause describes my current experience.
@@nosebotI get bioidentical testosterone gel and progesterone which is bioidentical. I’ve only been on it 6 weeks at a low dose and it’s making such a difference. I have all of the symptoms and I am watching them diminish
So far I've been able to find drs (ob-gyns) to prescribe, and it's been the regular pharma version not the bioidentical because no drs in my area prescribe those. I've been extrememly happy- and healthy- on the hrt I'm taking. @@nosebot
Thank you SO MUCH for this podcast. I plan to share it with so many women I care about. I have struggled for over a year with menopause symptoms that at times were debilitating. I am now on HRT and finally beginning to find balance. This podcast has made me feel so relieved that I am not crazy, or imagining things, and has justified things that even my PC wasn't able to help me with. Sending so much love and gratitude!
I hit post-menopause at age 39- Im 41 now. I missed my pre menopause stage as far as knowing that’s what was happening to me because no doctors would check my hormones - they refused to believe it was hormone related at my age. I was told my brain fog and feeling hot (like I was going to pass out) was just me having anxiety. Thanks to them I almost lost all bone density in my left leg and I got lost trying to find my way home one day. Oh and one summer I felt like I was having a stroke episode which prompted me to finally demand testing. I suffered for four years before I was able to get someone to listen to me. I would write. A book if I told you the thing va my body went through. It was pure misery- I told my doctor that I didn’t want to live anymore because I had no quality fo life. I was mocked by nurses and doctors when I would describe my symptoms. It was horrible. Four years of misery that I can’t get back. I could have just been on the estrogen and progesterone and be doing fine. I feel great now with it. If I miss a day or two I will feel it almost instantly. The medication literally keeps my body in line. People need to stop diagnosing females as mentally unstable every time we have a concern.
I'm done with male doctors due to the way I've been treated by so so many. Been yelled at, laughed at abilled with 0 treatment, just for going in over symptoms. My mom used to talk about how horrible she was getting treated after a certain age, getting called hypochondriac. I didn't get it, and now I'm 49 and have experienced it myself. Not saying all male docs are like this but I'm not willing to go to any more.
I am so impressed with Steven and his channel. He is a wonderful example of a “modern man”. This IS such an important topic for all of us women and for the men who support us through this inevitable life stage.
I'm a mental health counselor, and I try to talk to any woman in that age range about the menopause big picture. I want to arm them with the knowledge that it can affect many organ systems and their medical providers may not be able to connect the dots for them (for reasons that came out in this interview). Many women still don't have a word for peri-menopause. I consider this to be part of my mission.
Thank you! Yes please, do it! I was 47, holding a bachelor of science degree from an Ivy League university, and curious and self-teaching person who researches everything that ever piques my interest. I was suicidal, for no reason. I researched the statistics on the method of suicide that would be most effective. So it was no joke. I finally went to the doctor at my husband's insistence and was told I was in perimenopause. ---"What?" "What is that?" I felt so stupid and humiliated. How could I not have ever heard of this? It's such a "dirty" topic that it's kept from us, by family, by schools, by everyone.
We are being lied to about everything. Everyone has their own opinions on certain things. Best way to navigate life is to be aware of everything and to use your own discernment. Different strokes for different folks.
I must disagree with that advice. Yes, there are medical screwups, corrupt studies and strong medicines can have side effects etc. BUT our bodies are very complex and even with many years of training, MD’s (and clinical studies) disagree. The responsibility for your health is yours but you must rely on their knowledge to guide you in decision making. Not only do you not have their knowledge, emotional factors like fear, denial and bargaining, magical thinking, & rebellion against authority figures, for example, and human tendencies to rely on anecdotal “evidence” rather than huge studies and statistics can interfere with making the right choices. You are a babe in the woods when your health is at risk so ask questions but follow the numbers and hope for the best. I have seen people die regretting ignoring medical advice and handling things on their own. Medicine is not perfect but it is what we have.
I am a 52 year old black female who has been going through this since my early 40s. No one (doctors) has ever thought to ask about my hormones. Yes, my current physician (who is a white female) said I could be going through menopause, but she didn't know much about HRT to advise me. You have no idea how much this interview has helped me to put the puzzle pieces into place! Thank you for this. I am going to share it with my physician, and hopefully we can get me back to my normal self again.
Susun Weed has a podcast and books..she specializes in safe, simple herbs for women. For example: I make, and use, motherwort tincture and it stops sweats for months at a time, it also helps me deal with deep emotional changes (rage, sorrow, etc). HRT is a bandaid. There are herbs that truly help, and I don't mean black cohosh or crap in the store.
How the human immune system works is still largely a mystery. Doctors aren't entirely evil or stupid. They just don't understand. Constant pharmaceuticals are not the answer but it's what everyone always wants. We are responsible for our health.
I am 46 but I am taking oral birth control pills that are probably preventing me from feeling a lot of these symptoms. Once I am 50 I plan on transitioning to HRT.
Women have not been a priority in this man, male world system. I have been suffering in silence for so many years. Menopause is a beast. Women need special medical health for Menopause. Mood & persnality change, Bipolar, skin itching issues, sleep, urinary issues, hot flashes, etc. The list goes on, and on. I started early 40's. Thank you for this video. I hope this conversation continues! Women matter!! ❤
I am very impressed by this lovely young man who is showing genuine interest in women`s health. Most guys dont give a s.......What a guy, take note, men!!!
I am one suffering in silence. Divorced and scared to start a relationship with a great man because I'm afraid of all my menopause baggage. Thinning hair, hot flash, low libido, night sweats, brain fog etc etc etc. It is truly depressing. Great interview. Thanks for helping share the light on this.
Girl. Don't do that! Let this be your moment to take care of YOU! This video made me finally look for a doctor who specializes in HRT. Appointment is up-coming, but I am now actually hopeful for the first time in years. Please, don't let one more day go by without looking into it. It's so hard to take time to focus on ourselves, I know. I see your username says mom, so as one mom to another, you can't take care of everyone else the way you want to unless you are in a good place yourself. I wish I could reach out and hug you. You are NOT alone.
A woman at any age can have health issues that can affect relationships. If you a have a great men that wants to start something with you just go for it. Life is just too short to be losing those chances. Start your treatments, take care of yourself and enjoy the new guy.
Hi, don't suffer for now until you look into a HRT try this natural Therapy Hormones Estradiol, and progesterone is what I start with and a form of omega, a vitamin, D, C your magnesium a good quality pillow. Brisk walks and eat small meals through day. , I promise it will help you. I know how you are feeling, and I care. I was there. DR, PLATT wellness center. you can buy his hormone therapy online and its natural helps 100 percent. I plan to try HRT but for now this is a great start. Water aerobics in the summer. Its ok not to be okay
I'm 63 and i've been doing intermittent fasting, 18-6- 4 days/week. Lowered carbs, quit sugar and up protein and fiber and good fats changed everything. No brain fog, more energy, many inflammatory issues gone, and lost 40 pounds. It was too late for me to take HRT (60 yo when I inquired), I knew nutrition and supplementation would help. Thank you for caring for the "forgotten" no more fertile women!
@lizrock1442 that's bullshit. If BHRT products make you feel better, use them. I found a great product which is OTC bhrt cream called Ostaderm. I don't take as much as the label says---I take just enough to be able to sleep well and not have black depression and extreme fatigue. It literally gave me my life back. Lately added 2 pea sized dabs of lowest dose DHEA cream I could find. DHEA is a precursor to lots of hormones including testosterone. Turns out that dry eye is related to loss of testosterone. That also helped considerably. I can see again! Without feeling like i have rocks in my eyes or them being goopy and runny and red and light sensitive.
I lost my sister who was 51 in 2022 then my brother 8 months later he was 50 I’m 55. I thought I was losing my mind this on top of menopause 😢 losing two younger siblings changed me forever. I’m now in the second year of my nursing student degree. I helped my sister through her palliative care also. My sister told me to finish my nursing degree, which I’m doing 🙏🏼 I have two beautiful grandchildren so bring it on menopause 💪🏼 😅
I’m 37 and trying to get a doctor to take me seriously when I talk about the incredible pain in my back and elbows and wrists which started happening a year ago during my period. And the sudden acne when I’ve not had it all my life. The incredible wave of emotion I feel the week before my period. Every time I’ve seen a doctor in the UK I feel like I’m being gaslighted and condemned for wasting their time with my appointment.
Sad to say it but I’ve had a much better experience with private healthcare. My wife uses a private menopause clinic and they have been wonderful, maybe if you can afford it start there and get some tests?
I had no mental changes but physically I would never let my husband touch me again due to pain. Are we both supposed to live our life like that when BIOIDENTICAL HRT can correct it??!! I ended up going to Carnivore (eating only animal products and dairy) and my hormones corrected so I no longer need HRT. It may not work for everyone AND the elites don't want us eating meat. I wonder why?!!🤔 I also no longer need any meds and my arthritis, anklyosing spondylitis, joint pain, Ulcerative colitis and psoriasis has all cleared. That's a huge money loss to the pharmaceutical companies and to doctors.🤔 Follow the money!!💰 My husband also joined me on the Carnivore WOE (way of eating). We both got super trim and have more muscle than we did 10 years ago. We are 57 & 58. A friend in my neighborhood went Carnivore and he is fit, no longer a diabetic and no longer needs blood pressure meds!! 😁💪
After years of trying to conceive and being on the verge of giving up, I had my only child at 36 years old. I had one menstrual cycle after he was born and was then blindsided when my doctor confirmed at my next annual appointment that I was, in fact, post-menopausal at 37. Since then, I feel like my body is falling apart, literally. I’m so glad I discovered this video! Thank you for caring.
Hang in there beautiful. There is an amazing Perimenopause Group called Perry! Please join it. I am a Minister and I never thought that I would have the thoughts I do and feel so defeated by Perimenopause. We are in this together. 🙏🏽❤️
Does that mean you were menopausal in your early thirties already? That's insane and must have been so traumatic. Mine started at 45 after a full hysterectomy and at 60 I still have extreme symptoms, especially the tummy fat, but also the brain fog, and bone density loss. It's frustrating that physicians know so little to be effective in treatment.
I was offered no relief. I was made to be afraid of hormones. My own mother suffered through it and didn't take any hormones so I too thought that was best. When I told my FEMALE doctors that I was having mood swings and hot flashes they offered me psych drugs, I thankfully refused. It is disgusting how we are treated by the medical profession and by female doctors as well. Shameful
That's why they taught in medical school that hormones is cased cancer? I think you are smart about it. Company just promote those stuff make billions. No study at all.
Ah yes, it's because you're a woman ofc. HELLO, that's what's what the medical industry does. They don't take the time to truly understand their patient's issues. It's a numbers game and all about prescribing meds.
You have to look a it in this perspective. A 49 year old women goes into OBGYN she is still cycling and asks to have her rx for birth control pills refilled. They are synthetic doses are pretty high she never got cancer. A 50 year old women goes to same OBGYN asks for HRT due to suicidal thoughts and all the other awful symptoms. He says no. The hormones for hrt are body identical and made from wild yams and are a tiny drop compared to BC pills. If it was not for the misreporting of WHI OBGYN would still be handing hrt to their menopausal women.
I found this video after coming back from the gynecologist. I am Japanese. I suffer from multiple symptoms, but all the doctor said is that it is normal due to age. When I asked about migraines, he said that it is because eyesight deteriorates with age. I suffer from body swelling. The doctor said that this is also due to age, that women gain weight with age. The doctor prescribed Chinese medicine to lose weight and painkillers for migraines, but nothing for dizziness. In fact, my weight is below average. I did not get any help from the doctor and felt that I had to fight alone.
As a man who knows a lot about hormones. this is GOLD. everyone, and I mean EVERYONE over the age of 30 should listen to this doctor and watch it a few times.
Also Dr. Louise Newman in the UK. She's brilliant and doing so much to inform people around this significant topic. See her website, podcasts, instagram lives etc 🌟
Yeah, I personally felt like used up, damaged goods after menopause. I felt like I had lost what made me a woman and, like I was no longer valued in our society. I became invisible. The worst part was that no one ever prepared me about the emotional impact of menopause. No one from my generation had any idea what to expect.
That is so sad 😓 I'm post menopausal now, no periods for 3 years. They just suddenly stopped. No variation. I had one then a gap of 6 months, then one more, then nothing. I've had very few symptoms that can't be attributed to external factors (e.g. stressful events) I feel extremely lucky.
What you said is how I have felt. Like my body turned against me and I felt useless, and didn't feel like a woman anymore. I'm 60 years old now, don't have much energy, and just prefer to stay home. Age 48 to 55 were the worst years.
I’m almost 41 and feel totally different to how I did 2 years ago. I don’t recognise myself, wake up early hours, skin changes, joint bursitis after intense exercise, sore feet, fatigue, lack of desire to do anything, heavier/weight gain, irritability, paranoia, anxiety all of which worsen in the days leading to a period. I don’t feel youthful like I did, I don’t have the same energy and light that I did. It’s hard and it’s emotional.
I feel for you. I had a panic attack out of no where over a year ago that jump started all of those symptoms for me. I now take a plethora of supplements. Magnesium glycinate which has helped the anxiety, heart palpitations, vitamin d3 & k2 to get the calcium into my bones, ashwagandha for stress, and others for overall health. What I recently found that has helped my sleep and well being is melatonin before bed and maca root to balance my hormones and help with hot flashes. And I am strength training. I really hope you get the help to feel better.
I had no mental changes but physically I would never let my husband touch me again due to pain. Are we both supposed to live our life like that when BIOIDENTICAL HRT can correct it??!! That's a huge money loss to the pharmaceutical companies and to doctors.🤔 Follow the money!!💰 My husband joined me on Carnivore and we are both trim and have more muscle than we did 10 years ago. We have a neighbor that went Carnivore about 4 years ago who is also trim and no longer a diabetic and no longer needs blood pressure meds!! 😊💪
Thank you for this! It is so refreshing to see a man platform women’s health. I was one of those people who would have said “I will never touch HRT” I am now searching for a doctor that will actually walk this journey with me.
I’m crying watching this. It’s been such a long, hard road. It’s left me suffering and lonely, with no help in sight. Best thing I did was get divorced, but that left me going through menopause as a single mum with young children. So disappointed in my (woman) doctor.
Don’t give up. Give this information to your doctor. I suffered so much and doctors weren’t listening to me either… but I demanded HRT. This was many years ago and I made it through, but there were times I thought I was going completely crazy and nobody cared or listened..
My partner, sister and sister in law used, Organic Sulphur MSM Crystals/ coarse flakes, Organic acerola cherry powder (vitamin C), Organic ashwagandha root powder. Organic RED maca root powder. For 6-8 weeks and All the menopause symptoms STOPPED 100%. Let me know if you want more details.
I started at 40, but I "manned" through it with no help. At 47, I am finally out of the bad parts, but I have aged so much. I never knew menopause sucked the energy out of you. No one talks about it. I feel kinda robbed at a young age. I felt like my body started dying around me.
You can still get hrt. It can help your skin, bones, heart which would help with feeling low energy. I would talk to a doctor to find out the options. Good luck 🍀
I started at 42. Doctor didnt even consider it to be "early" menopause and offered me nothing. But I didnt need anything. Menstruation simply stopped. I had little to no issues at all, just the odd "hot flush". Guess I am one of the lucky ones. I do wonder if THE PILL interferes with the female hormones and I was hardly ever on the pill since I had one son when 25 an left his dad when he was 6 and have been on my own ever since, mostly sex free so didnt need to be on that poison that fks with your hormones. Am in my 50s now so well past it all.
@@-Free.Spirit- I didn't do the pill for more than a few weeks because it caused me to have pretty serious depression in a very short time, so I said forget it to that stuff, so I may be a good counter to your experience to say, at least not in all cases, having taken the pill may not be the problem in menopause. Maybe, I don't know. But my time with it was so short as to be a nonuser, and when menopause hit me at about 47-48 years of age, it hit hard. I had the worst hot flashes for years, and 8 years later, I still deal with them on occasion. I would get a hot flash at night when I was trying to sleep, I'd push the covers off of me until I finally cooled off, then, as I was pulling the covers back up, just that little activity would cause me to have another one! Forget turning - guaranteed hot flash. I had really horrible myclonus start around that time, so turned to taking some CBD and THC to get sleep, and was surprised to see that they helped with the hot flashes, so I kept doing them for a while. They knocked them back to where I could function somewhat, and after a while, I was grateful I was able to stop taking the supplements. I appreciated this doctor's talk, and definitely want to look into HRT and other supplements now.
I’m not even two minutes into the video and crying, because I’m 41 and noticing the changes….and they’re coming in rapidly. It’s scary when you have not been told what it actually all entailes. Thank you so much for opening this subject up to everybody…and as you say it should be noticed and watched by EVERYBODY, because it is so life changing and important to fully understand!
Im glad she is speaking about this horrific changes of life for women. Im glad a young male interviewer is taking interest in this subject. I wish more men as well as male doctors would show more concern.
This is a conversation, both men and women NEED to listen to! Can I ask you all a favour? If you enjoy this episode, could you please hit the like button 👍🏾 it helps us massively. Appreciate you all! 🙏🏽
Just did💫👌😊
Agree! Thank you for doing this podcast!
Your wife is blessed to have you!
lol
Thank you for posting. You describe what a husband does... He husbands.
You’re a great husband 🤗I hope she appreciates you.
I agree I am 49 I fasted too frequently! This allow me to slow my menopause!
Everyone has diff. symptoms, I was at my BEST at 49.... 52 has been a struggle with insomnia@@annielin2894
Too old to be promoted 💔
Things women have to contend with.
I'm so happy you started your own company.
That's where I'm headed too, 51, and I no longer have the patience for corporate stuff and performance reviews 😅
All the best to you.
I'm the same! I'm 60 now, and had the symptoms at age 56-57. Fasting got rid of it. Also a healthy lifestyle. Menopause is a natural transition. Our bodies were perfectly designed to go through it all without taking artificial hormones.
@@vchgs2872 I think men in their 50's get just as discriminated against as we do. Ageism sees no gender.
Shocking behaviour from these neanderthal men. Ewwww... glad u got rid
with the way he sounds he would have most likely said you are overreacting my ex was the same way. just horrible people.
Vit D daily - 4000iu
Marine collagen suppliment in my morning coffee - this has had a very beneficial impact of the aches and pains for sure.
Grow my own veg - (I dont have a huge space but I try my best)
Walk at least 30 mins a day, mostly more than that with my dog.
Limit alcohol for special occasions, also watch caffine intake.
Drink enough water (this makes such a difference to my mental clarity)
Get a good night's sleep, have a good sleep routine (I dont have a TV in my bedroom)
Dont watch the news - its always bad and depressing.
Practice gratitude, count your blessings in life.
Get out with friends, laugh, and certainly NEVER say "Im getting old"
Most of all ladies, keep a positive mindset as much as you can, we can often talk ourselves into feeling low by our attitudes to what we are facing.
Thank you for this comprehensive list of recommendations ❤
Your bones are good because your extra adipose tissue produces estrone.
So sorry
I can't take drugs, highly reactive but I have been using bio identical progesterone from wellsprings. USA company. Not licensed in UK been available over 30years no side effects. It's given me a bit of life back. Also a estrogen progesterone version.
Forget about that trash man. And learn a lesson from all of this. 1st The person has to think about herself and then about the other.
I’m so sorry. You deserve better
Most marriages are like that. That’s why in some places in the world girls started not getting into marriages or partnerships cause they foresee the end.
“Are we not as important as we were when we were fertile? Do our lives not matter?” THANK YOU for asking these questions! ❤

so happy when my period left.
We are all different. Thank you for taking about it
And for the good advise.

No you are not, the same thing applies to men, there is a physical and cognitive decline in men, and eventually they no longer are part of the workforce.
@@lilianawebb8687 I was too. It was the best part. 😊
seWhen I heard this question coming from a doctor, I even thought it was strange, since the issue is not that women matter during their childbearing years.
So glad to here that you found relief! How is the HRT process going?
Carnivore helps too

This made me laugh out loud. It's hilariously true!
Right?
I miss my period. 🤣
My wife asked me to listen to this podcast. I am glad I did. I will do what I can to be more supportive of her but I hope the medical industry does the same.
I just sent it to my husband.
Thank you sir 🤍 for posting and for trying.

That is the Best Gift you could give to your wife! Listening to the podcast. My husband watched a Dr Phil episode on menopause. I believe it's saving our marriage. When I told my husband buckle up...we're in for a bumpy ride😅 He looked at me with fear. What is HRT
@@HajerArj Hormone replacement therapy

Hrt stopped my hot flushes and skin dryness. However , did not do much with brain fog and hair falling.
Where do u get it at??
I had only one symptom of menopause and that is my periods simply stopped. My doctor did blood tests and asked me if I wanted hormones. I said, "No". I was around 51years old. To this day, I have never had a hot flash or any other problems. I just turned 80 years old.
My mum had a bad menopause , heart palpitations, anxiety, but she declined HRT . Mum is 86 now and very healthy ( on no medication for anything )

The insurance game is busted!! I hate insurance controls how your visit is coded, if they will pay for it and that goes for medicine/supplements too. Seems the only reason to have it is for meds and catastrophic events. Otherwise it is a bust.

It literally saves lives to talk about it

I can relate to this too, I'm 31 and also went through chemo 10 years ago. I was told I'd likely go through menopause around the age of 30, I brushed it off and didn't think it would be that bad. I completely underestimated just how difficult it would be! I hope you're doing okay ❤
would it be fair to say that you were on hormonal birth control for many years prior to all these problems?
My mom had breast cancer and chemotherapy put her into early menopause too.
Good to see a male influential podcaster covering women’s health issues and encouraging men to engage in the conversation 😊

I hear you. It's almost as though if the computer says you're fine, despite all evidence to the contrary, medics say you're fine.
😢well your insistence on treatment has worked. Traditional medicine has its limitations but the medical profession also needs to wake up.
Weird Kaiser saved me they ran an FSH and that's all it took for the meds.
It is the blind leading the blind….find a new doctor that knows about hrt treatment. Balance is the answer!
@@jenniferfortin4657 Do you think an older female OBGYN will better understand?
This is why my wife and I only see women doctors who are competent. Women get treated like animals by most male doctors. Like we want to help you but not put too much effort into it. It passed me off when my wife would go to the er, and they wouldn't listen to her if I'm not there to speak up for her. We all have mothers, and most of us have daughters, so why don't we treat women like equals? It is mind-blowing.

Agreed! I was shocked to see this topic. Amazing man.
Carnivore diet has been so helpful in perimenopause

Yes!! By all means call out the military funding!!!😂😂😂 It's not fair......and damn it this viagra is bull crap!!
yeah but it's not "male" docs who are the only problem.
And hopefully some good may come out of it 😇
And I too was diagnosed with vertigo a month ago.
I now think what's next 🙄😒
As a dermatologist, I can honestly say that this is one of THE BEST interviews I have seen in the past year!
Congratulations!

Was ist HRT?
HRT does not work for everyone. I gained 10 kilos in one week on it. Needed to stop it immediately.

Menopause was DEVASTATING for me. You’re SO right - NO ONE talks about it!
I had NO IDEA it would be this bad. If I had known how I would be feeling, I would have started HRT ten years ago. I have become a "hypochondriac".
Same
😢 Going through this right now.
As you say, no one talks to us about it and no one warns us of what is coming.
my mental health and overall general health took a toll. being treated has made such the difference for me!
I'm commenting for the algorithm. Everybody needs to see this! I feel like I've been suffering needlessly for years!
I’m married to a gynecologist and I had do advocate for myself both to him and my endocrinologist. I found myself apologizing for my moods when I could physiologically not control how my body was reacting to my environment. Finally went to a woman clinic and HRT is awesome
Sad that men in the field married to women can't or won't help them.
Bravo.
"Strength over skinny" that really resonates right off the rip and "I want to see the girls I raised become the women they're meant to be "
I've been working with menopause patients for 9 years and advocating daily for all the things you mention. Thank you.
This is very relatable. I am 41.
I'm right there with you and understand my journey started at 45, then around 55 got worse, now I'm 57, weight gain, insomnia anxiety depression,
I do fast but because I'm diabetic, it xan be tough
Migraines have increased
body aches, joints
I just feel less of a human
For those who had mild to no problems God bless you,
this has been a very tough journey for me..

Bio-identical hormones.
See, this is why it terrifies me. How are you still alive and functioning, you obviously did and as billions of women before you you survived!!
@@CherylBerryl could you please say more about these?❤❤❤thank you
You just described all my symptoms. I also started at 36
Right there with you.
Well said, Totally agree 👍
THANK YOU STEVE!!!!
well said, 100% concur
I wonder if it translates into his personal life though…
Yeah, I won't forget WW. Chilling.
Oh yes. Same here. Absolutely
Sweating I can deal with, hot flashes I can deal with. What I can’t deal with is the paralyzing fear, anxiety, depression, and fatigue.
I went through it all. It was absolutely horrible! Thank God for HRT!!
I understand.
St. John's Wort and some natural supplements helped me, immensely. Watch some of Dr. Berg's videos.
Change your diet to Keto or Carnivore, you can come off antidepressants. I am on HRT but my mental health only improved when I changed my diet.

I was shocked by the brutality of it ! I'm someone who usually sucks it up
and says nothing, but it's the worst I've ever felt in my life. Next week, I'm
asking my doctor to put me back on HRT even though I'm through it bc
I never got my energy back and am experiencing a heart issue again that
disappeared when I started HRT. I have also heard that women on HRT
should stay on it for the rest of their lives. There is too much focus on
breast cancer risk as opposed to the many positive benefits of it ! Not
only does it protect your heart but it strengthens your bones. My skin
was better after than it was before too. I couldn't have gotten through
it without HRT. I felt so bad that the fear of breast cancer went right out
the window. Everything this woman says resonates with me. I thought I
had an incurable disease & that I was going insane from that burden. I
had a total hysterectomy at 41, was told to take estrogen for two years
and that I didn't need to worry about menopause ! Had I not watched a
show on the subject I may still not know ! God bless you for sharing all
you know. My daughters roll their eyes when I mention it, but I know they
will still be caught off-guard by the severity of it. HRT saved my life.
I’ve been a nurse for 12 years and she’s right…most providers are clueless on this topic, which is why I’m here listening with all of you. God bless this woman and God bless my husband for putting up with my MAN-O-pause (zero desire).
Most providers are clueless, period.
The nurses are the backbone and the brains in so many offices. I love you peeps
My beautiful wife has lost who she was , its like her shine has gone for me only and work etc she is her normal self,
We used to spend every single minute after work together loving our bubble just us even holding hand feeling blessed for what we have, she struggles to even make eye contact now I feel iv lost my wife .
I've been feeling the same exact way.

This young man’s obvious compassion had me in tears. Thank you.
Agree. I mean yes this is his channel. But he really is INTO this conversation, not just ask8ng because he have to.
Such a sweet young man.
But most men don't have that problem... men are lucky to not go through it... but feminists always working on hurting men
I had my womb removed because of f fibroids.
They want us to be on a whole list of meds for each separate symptom, rather t
han just one or two that ABSOLUTELY FIXED EVERYTHING.
100% women put way too much faith in "drs." and allow them to push them over. that is part of the problem.
@@nosebotI get bioidentical testosterone gel and progesterone which is bioidentical. I’ve only been on it 6 weeks at a low dose and it’s making such a difference. I have all of the symptoms and I am watching them diminish

I did not recognized my symptoms. Only when my period stopped, months ago, I put all together. I was not prepared, nor informed
This sounds just like my experience.
Thank you for this. You just described me to a T… thank you 🙏🏽
I am so impressed with Steven and his channel.
I'm 53. Had a hysterectomy at 44. Started HRT around 50. Saved my life. Patches and Ovestin cream internally.
Can you help me? I am in Cameroon. Thanks.
We are being lied to about everything. Everyone has their own opinions on certain things. Best way to navigate life is to be aware of everything and to use your own discernment. Different strokes for different folks.
we really need to; I have seen some real medical goof-ups
Same experience for me - at 57, I have various menopausal symptoms, but my doctor never asks about them, and has never suggested hormones.
@@RunninUpThatHillh It's even more of a mystery about women's health, because so few people place any importance on it and research it. :(
I am 46 but I am taking oral birth control pills that are probably preventing me from feeling a lot of these symptoms.

Look into bio identical hormones. So much better and for any age. I’m 63 and take them as a crème. Have a google
@@magsgil8181 Oh, i did inquire for bio identical and was told it was too late unless I would've start taking them before 60. I'll ask again! Thanks!
@@lizrock1442 You can use the bio-identical creams at any stage, and for the rest of your life! They are plant-based and it's lovely.
So you are on a semi keto diet?
I'm so sorry for your losses! May God bless & keep you!
I'm in the same situation in the U.S. healthcare system.
You are not alone. It's not just in UK like that. And we live in western Europe! Imagine elsewhere!
That's a huge money loss to the pharmaceutical companies and to doctors.🤔
Follow the money!!💰
My husband also joined me on the Carnivore WOE (way of eating). We both got super trim and have more muscle than we did 10 years ago. We are 57 & 58. A friend in my neighborhood went Carnivore and he is fit, no longer a diabetic and no longer needs blood pressure meds!! 😁💪
I was on Prozac for ten years for panic attacks ,zanex , wine whatever now on patches and pregablin ; most of the time all ok but still not great
After years of trying to conceive and being on the verge of giving up, I had my only child at 36 years old.
Thank you …
You are not alone. Also feel like body has been falling apart for years.
Something after I have my child my cycle is stopped. First year I thought because I am breastfeed, then 2yrs,3yrs.......
Same experience
You have to look a it in this perspective. A 49 year old women goes into OBGYN she is still cycling and asks to have her rx for birth control pills refilled. They are synthetic doses are pretty high she never got cancer. A 50 year old women goes to same OBGYN asks for HRT due to suicidal thoughts and all the other awful symptoms. He says no. The hormones for hrt are body identical and made from wild yams and are a tiny drop compared to BC pills. If it was not for the misreporting of WHI OBGYN would still be handing hrt to their menopausal women.
From my understanding some of the depression drugs are used off label, at lower doses, to reduce severe hot flashes
What medicines did you take?
I read your post and I have suffered from migranes and prescribed pain killers.
@@SharonRascothank you for the information x
I've educated my daughters and told them not to wait until menopause, start before. Diet, exercise and vitamins.
This is s so true I feel invisible and useless
This depleted hommonal imbalances has sad side effects 😢
What you said is how I have felt. Like my body turned against me and I felt useless, and didn't feel like a woman anymore. I'm 60 years old now, don't have much energy, and just prefer to stay home. Age 48 to 55 were the worst years.
So sad
I’m almost 41 and feel totally different to how I did 2 years ago. I don’t recognise myself, wake up early hours, skin changes, joint bursitis after intense exercise, sore feet, fatigue, lack of desire to do anything, heavier/weight gain, irritability, paranoia, anxiety all of which worsen in the days leading to a period. I don’t feel youthful like I did, I don’t have the same energy and light that I did. It’s hard and it’s emotional.
Ah, the humble transition to old hag. Beautiful. It reminds me of why men with money play with younger women instead.
@@cdawnd1672 Magnesium isn't enough to defend you from the wall.

Thank you, that’s super helpful!
Thank you for this! It is so refreshing to see a man platform women’s health. I was one of those people who would have said “I will never touch HRT”
I am now searching for a doctor that will actually walk this journey with me.
I’m crying watching this. It’s been such a long, hard road. It’s left me suffering and lonely, with no help in sight. Best thing I did was get divorced, but that left me going through menopause as a single mum with young children. So disappointed in my (woman) doctor.
I hope you get the support you need and deserve.
It's true it's like hell when no one understand you and give you support when needed have to bear all alone in silence.
Don’t give up.
Give this information to your doctor. I suffered so much and doctors weren’t listening to me either… but I demanded HRT. This was many years ago and I made it through, but there were times I thought I was going completely crazy and nobody cared or listened..
My partner, sister and sister in law used,
Organic Sulphur MSM Crystals/ coarse flakes,
Organic acerola cherry powder (vitamin C),
Organic ashwagandha root powder.
Organic RED maca root powder.
For 6-8 weeks and All the menopause symptoms STOPPED 100%.
Let me know if you want more details.
@@bobbystrainovic9444would love to read some more details 🤗
I started at 40, but I "manned" through it with no help. At 47, I am finally out of the bad parts, but I have aged so much. I never knew menopause sucked the energy out of you. No one talks about it. I feel kinda robbed at a young age. I felt like my body started dying around me.
You can still get hrt. It can help your skin, bones, heart which would help with feeling low energy. I would talk to a doctor to find out the options. Good luck 🍀
Did you get the Covid jabs? Because if you did, your experience may be stemming from adverse effects of these.

Same here. 41, terrified and in tears within minutes.
Her comment about WW says it all. Even the whole naming women our age "Karen". It's just wrong that it's not understood what women go through.
Me to darling I've never felt so crappy
Im glad she is speaking about this horrific changes of life for women.
Im glad a young male interviewer is taking interest in this subject.
I wish more men as well as male doctors would show more concern.
