  • In this video we go inside a laser printer engine to look at the basic components and how they work together. We also try to shed light on the technological marvel that is toner, how it is made, and why the wrong toner can kill your laser printer.

    Thank you SO MUCH! I watched like 5 videos already on lazer printers and not a single one explained the mechanical components of the device.

    Studying for my A+ exam. Professor Messer did a decent job of explaining how these work but this animation really solidified the details in my mind. Thank you!

      Same! Without this I still had a hard time memorizing the functioning of the laser printers!

    Excellent video, thank you! Can you please tell me what you mean by there are low cost printers that don't need refilling? Can you provide me with a link to learn about this? Cheers.

      Learn about Cost Per Page, (CPP), before you buy. A set of toners can easily cost more than you spent for your color laser printer. That's why many people will turn to third party toners which unfortunately end up destroying the printer. If you look you will find there are printers out there that are very inexpensive to operate using genuine supplies so you can keep your printer running for many years.

    But how laser and rotating mirror knows where to focus beam and how laser creat or distroy charge ?

    • @printershowcase
      @printershowcase  4 года назад

      The controller creates the image, the rotating mirror just rotates, the laser is stationary but will turn on and off as directed by the controller, and the drum rotates at it's fixed rate. The drum is recharged by the transfer charge each revolution.

    I dunno which pre-school laser printer scientists went to but mine taught me that red, green and blue were the primary colors, not cyan, magenta, yellow and black. But yeah, I never learned how to make laser printers, so...

    • @printershowcase
      @printershowcase  5 лет назад +2

      RGB are the primary colors for direct light (as in monitors and TVs). CMYK are the primary colors for reflective light. They are basically opposite. With light, for example, the presence of all RGB colors makes white. The presence of all CMYK reflective colors makes black. Science!

    Title: How Does a Laser Printer Engine Work?
    And 2/3 of the video is about why you shouldn't use bootleg toners..

    • @printershowcase
      @printershowcase  3 года назад

      Toner is the key technology. Unfortunately fake toner is the number one killer of laser printers.

    how does the laser project an image on the drum and how does the rotating mirror help it do that?

    • @printershowcase
      @printershowcase  9 лет назад +2

      nj4ck
      The laser turns on and off while hitting different parts of the rotating polygon mirror which in turn hits different parts of the rotating drum.
      It's really amazing when you think about how fast all this actually happens!
