2024 anyone?
Yes for A+ , you took it yet?
y
Yeah
😂
Yup, for A+ lol
I sell printers and TV's for a living so this was a great video. I learned some new things about printers that I never knew before!
He's wrong about the print quality of dot-matrix, my Epson LQ-59011 works perfectly well for large amounts of text.
@@gregdaweson4657 not that, its quality is less when compared to laser and inkjet printer.
@@user-qv3bu8ud9o it is slightly lower quality for text, but nothing noticeable. Pictures on the other hand are serviceable when large, but not very good.
This is why I said it works well for text. I consider the lower quality well worth it since you don't have to deal with inkjet cartridges or toner, both being expensive and annoying, while ribbons are cheap and last a while. (DRM on HP and Cannon cartridges)
🤓
I was curious for a second when I looked at the printer in my house. I was like, how does a machine print out things EXACTLY THE SAME. So I searched it up, and this video was just so perfect. The explanation is literally perfect. I undertsood everything single bit. Tysm. Great video.
“I couldn’t thank you enough for everything you have been doing for us.” Great 👍 animated video.
Easy to understand know everyone is a technician b/c of you guys Great Job !!
It always takes me back to my elementary and middle school day when I see a dot matrix printer. I just downloaded dot matrix font. For nostalgia purposes, it looks great.
They are also super cheap to use, just bought a 24 pin one last year and have changed the ink once. (The ink is ~3$ a cartridge.) It also prints with pretty acceptable quality.
I love your channel and the general old-school quality of your productions! Dot matrix all day, every day.
haha, thanks :)
Dot Matrix is as old as my underwear, and just as dirty.
@@Student4Life1975 LMAO
I love the sound that dot matrix printers make

Thank you.
This is the best best best channel ever. Great explanation with great animation.
Life savers! You guys rock! Keep up the good work
With all your knowledge I just want to find unusefull devices such as a printer to just open it up and see how it physically it looks on the inside... I went from makeup tutorials to watching all your videos 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for the simple and understandable explanations. Please do not take it as criticism, but only as a small note, addition: in the video on the laser printer is missing an important step. The fuser unit for fixing the color powder.
Man I. Love your videos. Best and simplest to learn, watch and understand.
Would be it possible your start uploading videos every week because I feel like a lot of people including me would learn a lot from you and you would make a difference.
Sorry about my English grammar it might not be perfect. English language is my second language.
Mr Networking i didnt know any thing about printers and i had an exam tommorow it helped alot
Mr networking what is your first language ?
@@aizabintefahad1266 arabic as his playlist suggests.
Thank you so much for the video you're awesome! 🙌🏼
Thanks :)
Also worth mentioning that in thermal printing there exists a newer technology called thermal transfer which uses a black ribbon of ink and heat to transfer the ink to the paper/label.
These produce higher quality and much longer lasting prints than direct thermal where the ink is in the paper itself as described in the video. But they're generally more expensive to buy and use.
A positive thing about them is that most thermal transfer printers can operate in either thermal transfer or direct thermal mode, where it can still operate as a conventional thermal printer and use paper or labels which have the ink inside of it.
Thanks
You must understand:
wax ribbon: for paper label. cheap. won't last long. For shipping label.
resin ribbon: for plastic label or paper with smooth surface. Expensive. Scratch resistant, lasts longer. For actual product.
some ribbons combine both traits
there are colored ribbons. shiny gold/silver is just as expenive as other colors, if you pay more you got scammed
Cheap printers rotate 1:1 with label roll even if there is only a small text in the middle of the label.
True printers only rotate the ribbon when it prints.
Print consecutive numbering, bar/qr codes or individual text on pre-printed labels. It can be used for Wine bottle labels.
Watch out, some rolls are inkside in and some inkside out. csi and cso
there are two types of cores. 25mm and smaller 12,7mm
Toshiba rolls hit different.
Toshiba is generally different.
best explanation I have found! to the point...thanks
Very detailed explanation and illustration worth recommending to my students to learn more about how the different kinds of printers work
I JUST NEEDED THIS THANK YOU ❤

I watch all your videos you do a fantastic job for us visual learners and we thank you so much. In the future can you please make a video about common trouble shooting for printers since they ask those types of questions on the A+ exam?
Taking the 220-901 A+ in a few days, watching these videos are sooo beneficial!

My credit union changed buildings and renovated interiors several times over 30 years. But they kept their old 1980s dot matrix printers until start of 2023. Work horses that never broke. I kinda miss them.

Ur explanation is so easy to understand
It is a nice and useful video. Starink toner cartridge- start different.
Fun fact, dot matrix printers are everywhere in China nowadays. Almost every bussiness owner have one in their office. But they are not used to print documents, the law requires that the invoices need to be printed on a special carbonless copy paper, only dotmatrix printer can do that. I just bought one last month, an Epson LQ-610K. I am suprised it's not that slow at all, however the noise is really huge.
Are the dots fine enough to print more complex Chinese characters on a small scale?
@@YustinJ420 I'm using a relatively new printer, pretty readable to me with default font size in word(11 points). I think it's fine enough for even smaller size.
very helpful thank you very much respected sir
Nice idea for teaching, nice technique of teaching using the diagrams ,I really love it👍👍👌😊

my go to channel. Now I understand it more in 5 minutes than reading the books 4x.
great job
Nice, can include fuser function and transfer belt for color laser jet
The dot matrix printers were mostly used back in late 70's and during 80's, in some countries even in early 90's. The thermal printers are also used for printing tickets in buses or trains here in Europe.
Dot matrix still used for some archival purposes here
Perfectly explained 👏👏👏
Thanks sir for graphic information
Keep on releasing this videos man
Thank you!
I’m only 26 so I think dot matrix printers were before my time. I was just stopping by because I was curious as to how they work. At work we have a laser printer for the copy room, but we use dot matrix printers for packing lists, shipping labels, and bills of lading. I was curious as to how they worked.
Quade Carter im 26 almost 27 and i used dot matrix printers back when i was a kid i used to love ripping the paper out and removing the sides with holes on them it was like old tech asmr.
Dot matrix is pretty much in use in some countries. In my country, the banks use is to update our bank passbooks details.
@@stonedsavage7814 me too then I'll rip the sides into small pieces and use them to trash my friends table or as confetti
If you do a lot of text printing, I highly recommend 24 pin models like the monochrome Epson LQ-59011, as they print with pretty good quality.
A single cartridge costs about 4$ and lasts about six months.
thank you, by any chance do you have a video about 3d printers?
Thanks for video
