Here is the build series about my truck. A rather modified Series II Land Rover.

I rather silly build and road trip to the famous Land Rover Winter Romp in Maine.

A slightly less silly road trip to Cape Breton that does involve painting flames on a Land Rover.

The series that started it all. A crazy plan to build a Land Rover in one day from assorted bits lying around.

There's a few other videos that might be of interest at Riverport Rovers including the beginning of a Boler trailer refit.

Cool to hear the seal worked out for ya'll & the "bust out another thousand" acronym was not needed this time. As a Dad of 3 girls myself, also glad ya'll got to have a wicked visit.

Saw travels with G for the first time, great stuff! I think I drifted here from watching different sailboat and surf vids today. Boy , you can do it all, can’t you! Well, one thing on a boat, SAFETY FIRST have a plan and a life jacket for EVERY ONe on board when you are underway!

I’m about to tackle the very same job so good to see the seal has easy access once the gearbox is backed off from the engine. Not a lot of info around for this sort of job

Hey man you got easy, I had two engines to worry about. She had twin Leyland 2,5lt laid over engines, they were a pig tp work on. So swapped then for a pair of Ford 2.5lt same power but a lot smaller, bought marinized kits that fitted right on and PRM gearbox's. She was an absolute doddle to use especially in marinas coming alongside. Mind you I had plenty of practise as I kept her on the Thames just west of London.

One thing to aware of is that you can get fluid dripping from the bell housing that looks as if it came from the front oil seal but actually came from the control valve O-ring and ran down the outside of the transmission. You don't need to take out the transmission to fix that - it's an easy fix. I found this out the hard way! But when we got the transmission off there was no sign of fluid near the front oil seal - all as dry as a bone (like yours seems to be actually).

I noticed the seal went in back to front... I'm guessing you may have done that to get the lip in further to a better shaft surface...? Kind Regards. Rob

I'm guessing wooden boats don't need sacrificial anodes on the hull, just on or near external engine parts?

I considered it. Have had good success with them before. This transmission and engine are slated for replacement. I just needed a stopgap. How about that high waterline on the bellhousing!
