You go girl. I did it 5 years ago. Scariest thing I ever did. Thanks to my wonderful wife said go ahead do what you need to do. I started my chainsaw carving and woodworking items. Farmers markets and the like. Thank God I did. I feel better. No more headaches. It was a very very stressful job. Now I live different.
Cant agree more with you. I would rather sleep underneath a bridge than being a slave to some employer who pays me a laughable salary. I am really happy for you Brooke. The best part of life is being fully self reliant.
I keep waiting till I have enough money to move back to FL from the UK. I’ve been in the UK for 10 years and I’ve gotten no where fast and I feel depressed and have anxiety all the time. I grew up in FL and miss it so much. I’m think thinking as soon as I have a few thousand pounds I’m leaving bc I can’t wait till I have 10 or 20 thousand. 😊
I love how God is using you to encourage us all to follow what he created us to be and to do! I've just started following you and I know this video was recorded a time ago but I find it very Inspirational for me right now! Thank you for hearing God's voice on what you should be doing with your life and having the courage to step into it. You are right on! Girl! Lol. In the woods!
@@therealgirlinthewoods Message received… LOUD AND CLEAR‼️ On this very morning, three years after you posted this video Brooke, I watched this particular video for the first time. Guess it was meant to be. This morning I realized I am not happy (nor have I ever been) working to elevate someone else’s monetary ambitions. My own RUclips channel (under a different name) and my website have been created and sitting dormant for three years. I’ve allowed every little and big event in my life to be a distraction. Taking me into a downward spiral only to come up for air when I’d busy myself at my 9-5🤦🏻♀️ I’ve put in notice for three weeks off from work beginning today. Time to take my own dream and just get off my a$$ and get it done. Just going to do it!!! The three weeks may very well be the beginning of ‘retirement’ from the traditional work force. Too much life left in this gal to succumb to the drudgery of ‘working for da man’. Thank you girl! You’ve inspired me to the core💯%
never sell your soul to a job,,my mom always said.............do what makes your heart sing........mover and shaker...i did the leap years ago ..and it worked...xxx........you will do great brookey
When one door closes another one opens. You can definitely make a living following your dreams. I’m pretty happy, I live on a little island in southeast Alaska. What’s not to love about that. The best of luck to you and your dreams.
This video totally reminds me of me! I've been a full time public school teacher since 2006 and on allmy days off I am a self employed personal shopper and driver. I really thought I loved my job teaching until this pandemic. I've had all this time for myself and my family and all this time to my business that I absolutely love waking up to do and all this time to think about reality. For months I've dreaded going back to my classroom. So the reality was that I didn't love teaching anymore and having to be there everyday at a certain time and stay until a certain time all dependent on basicslly someone else dictating my life. Well last week on August 17th the day before I was supposed to be back in my classroom I resigned. The second I sent that form to the school district all this weight on my shoulders and anxiety ive been dealing with was gone! I know you made this video quite sometime ago and I've never seen it until today...a week after I made the jump but congrats to you Brooke and all of you that want to br happy!
I quit corporate health care after it almost killed me in 2014. I've been on this crazy whirlwind of a life since then but I've enjoyed it. I now have a little side business and I'm going to start working full time again so I can put away as much money for the next 5 years while I enjoy my life. I have simplified my life to the point where everything I personally own fits into my Jeep. I am 44 and it's never too late to try something new or even start over completely.
Good Lord...LOL (You mean so Brook can pay the sound guy, the editor, the makeup artist etc. etc.?) This is not Hollywood? What production costs? I am sure, camera and computer are paid for. Unless you finance projects like "Survival Russia",...it would be bagging.
Gone to the Snow Dogs , HI Jessica. Dawn told me you lost another snowdog a little while back. I am so sorry to hear about that. (This is Bill formerly of Cadillac Jeepers)
I don't know what bagging for money is. . . maybe you can explain it for me. Patreon isn't just for "production" costs. It's for people who really want to go the extra mile to support the creators they enjoy. No one has to give money.
I prayed at my office cubical for many days/months, “Lord, if this isn’t what I’m supposed to do for a living, move me”. I would say, I don’t want to be in here, I want to be out there, and I would point outside the window where it was a beautiful woods. 6 months later, I got laid off! That was 18 years ago. I have had my own business, utilizing my talents and I’m sooooo happy. Your talking’ my game, your sing in’ my song! Good for you!
I quit my job a little over 6 months ago and have been thru hiking the PCT since. Now it's time to go home, get my car, and drive around the country for as long as I can.
Thanks, everybody. I just found out I may be able to get a very similar job in Antarctica for 6 months.. still a cubicle but Antarctica. Would that be OK?
Jay, I have been watching vids about people working in Antarctica, a truly fascinating place! And I hear the pay isn't bad either. I would definitely watch you there! 👍
"Happiness is where the heart is." I'm so glad you listened to your heart today Brooke and have decided to let it lead you on the journey of your lifetime. It takes courage to share your uniqueness, to realize that no matter the obstacle there is always a way forward and always a quiet inner voice that will lead you.
It’s interesting that this video came up when I logged on to RUclips today. Just yesterday I found out that the tv show I’ve worked on for the last 7 years is coming to an end. I’m ready for change. It’s time. Thank you for the inspiration!
Raindrops of hope grow into a stream of inspiration, which leads you to a babbling Brooke. The river of success means you have to grasp your dreams for the waterfalls ahead because life is short and then “She Gone!” So jump in the canoe and “ Get out there and be happy!” Life is a journey, not a destination.
I work at a dead end job, hate my job so so much recently I set up my own business. The only thing that keeps me going is for me to grow that business this video was great! You got this
Am so proud to be able to watch you and Dave! I've been preaching the same thing for years. Jump in head first and get your nose dirty. Heck it'll wash. Weird is good because it's who you are. God bless you and Dave!! I'm still having heart problems. It's not stopping me from passing my knowledge on to my grandkids. I was raised in the woods here in Michigan. Doing the same thing to them.
@@therealgirlinthewoods my son is a beekeeper. Got him interested in making mead. Gives him another way of selling honey. He'll be leaving for California sometime after Thanksgiving to take care of the bees. Be back in the spring. So proud of him too.
Watching you and listening to you made me feel like i was sitting on the back row pew of a very large church full of folks. The preacher is all fired up about a very passionate subject and then i realize it me he's talking to. You ma'am, just made me feel that same way. And you Brooke, are completely correct. I've not wasted my life. I just retired from managing federal wildlife habitat property on the western slop of Colorado. Prior to that i worked in law enforce and the division of wildlife in Oklahoma. Now at 62 i spend of my time sitting on the couch looking out the window, watching my dreams blow by like the falling snow. I'm sure I'm only one of many people you inspire with your positive attitude. I do hope this channel helps pay your bills because you have found your calling. Hope you stay well and are blessed.
allahu snackbar YOU are right about that, you'll be exploited for forty years then if you are lucky enough to get a watch, then they throw you on the scrap heap.
Brooke, you're just a quitter! Well, I am too. Hehehe... I walked away from an IT career after 20 years. Sure, I'm still working for somebody else but it's a lot less stressful and I get time to do other things. Wishing the best for you. You hit this! 👍👍👍
You are so right! Being true to yourself inspires others by example, even if you don't know who or when. I retired from my conventional career early and now am about to move from U.S. to Portugal for a better quality of life. Had all the desirable attributes of life and still do, but now they are internal riches, very few material ones. Selling almost everything, done! Reaching out for open space, land to cultivate, peace of mind I can't find in this culture. People ask if I am scared. NO! Being ready and planning well takes away fear. Launch yourselves, it is worth it to take on an adventure. I am 67, so never too late, either. DO IT! Thanks for everything, Brook, your videos are inspiring. You will be a fabulous motivational speaker and more of the life you richly deserve will come to you for taking this next step.
When it is time to QUIT we each know it. I'm with you on wanting to do things that make a difference. You are a natural at INSPIRING people. Best Wishes From All Of Us!
I know this was made years ago but I am telling ya, Motivation at its finest! I was laid off during covid and never called back. I started reselling on Poshmark and Marketplace. Its something I like to do but most of all, I am doing this so that when It explodes, I can tell my husband to come work with me and be free to go when we want and do what we want! We love the outdoors and love to camp! This is why I do what I do. Thank you for the inspiration and all the awesome videos you both put up for all of us! Best wishes! God Bless!
Much respect to you! Like your honesty and courage to be yourself. It’s a leap of faith but you will succeed. You are an inspiration. Thank you and best wishes ✊
Brooke when you share these videos you inspire people. I read the other comments and I know you do. You have inspired me to want to live off the grid. I'm just very afraid because I never even been camping. But you are definitely an inspiration and you have impacted many people.
I'm on my 41st year I'm the engineering field and I've been burnt out for a good 10 yrs. I still have 7 yrs until I can retire, but im more than ready, mentally to retire today. What's stopping me? Yes, bills, but I've been paying those off. Both kids are adults and loving on their own, but I am helping them with tuition costs. I need to just do it! I have savings of the low 6 figures to fall back on if needed. My idea is to buy the land, build a small cabin, a few goats and chickens and just basic needs for off grid. I know it'll take a few years of building to be fully off grid, but thats my plan. I need to just do it, I agree.
My superpower is making beer disappear. Unfortunately it does not pay the bills. Good going. It will take you a little while to get on the right path. It takes a little while to adjust. But keep up the good attitude. I started working for myself a couple of years ago. I soon found out the boss is a jerk. But I would not trade what I do.
Probably the best and most useful rant I have ever heard ...Fantastic Brooke...delivered from your heart.....sincere and truthful...I have watched a few of your videos and really enjoyed them....You are a lovely lady...god bless...
Oh Brooke you just made my morning coffee🍵 more enjoyable😆👍, ty and you made me smile,I so love your inspiration,I'm retired and can do what I want when I want and I do things that other people think I'm to old to be doing, lol I'm a what you can call,(" i can do almost anything kind of person,") as my dad taught me well,I'm a semi mechanic, electrician ,plumber, construction, woodsman,("women ") lol you name it ,but I was truly just born with all these skills with a little help along the way,and I'm still riding the mini bikes lol,so with all that being said you go girl be happy and keep doing what your heart tells you that's best for you,and of course your family lol, great video 😆💙👍...
@@therealgirlinthewoods ,Brooke since 2013 when after 28 years of driving school bus for special needs children and adults, I was forced into early retirement due to they closed are transportation dept down,I decided then now was the time to be me again finally, lol so at that time I went back to all the things that I really wanted to do,mostly childhood dreams, lol yeah suddenly I'm a kid all over again with adult responsibilities lol😆💙👍😊...PS I'm also a big dreamer😉........
I wish I could give you a double "Thumbs Up" for this video Brooke. You have described why the majority of people are so unhappy. All they are doing is working to meet a mortgage or car payment thinking that somehow they will get ahead of it all and then their day will come. It never does. Life is a fatal sport. No one gets out alive. You have to seize the moment and enjoy what ever you can so that at its end there are no regrets. I admire you Brooke for having the courage to do what you have done.
This is why I see your channel. I love the wilderness and living outside But the job omg stuck in job time. I really want to do something But like everyone I have so many bills that every 3 to 4 weeks its repeated. Thank you for your words.I pray to God that he opens doors for opportunities for me to work for me and still pay my bills but live my life everyday
I have the T Shirt for that. Never looked back. Should have done it 15 years earlier. The first year or so was tough but I managed to put together a healthy clientele list that put food on our table for 15 years...about 5 years ago I sold my business and retired. I would say best of luck but it isn't luck. It is perseverance, discipline, determination and faith.
June 2, 2020 Hey Brooke, Callie here. I take it this was one of your first episodes. And I just happened to bump into it at work while on my break tonight. It hit all kinds of nerves that resonated something inside me. So much truth in what you're sayin' that we all go through in this life with our occupations and vocations. I'm in a career where I safeguard human life and County facilities. I used to be an armored guard for 4 years, and loved it! 👍 But after that I had to undergo surgery for my carpal tunnel that was very severe. And after two years off and healing, I decided to go into being a PSO what I do now, professional security officer for a huge private company. This is my occupation. But my vocation is singer - songwriting. I'm still passionate about singing today! I've been singing since I was 3 years of age self-taught. I used to sing for a couples church group when I was married. And years after that I got into singing cover songs on karaoke night up in wrightwood California where I had a small following. I really love doing that! But because of my job, like many others, I have not done it in years! And sadly I say this. Anyhow, I guess you could say I'm trapped in a career where I love what I do, and do what I love. And the money definitely helps pay the bills. But it's not what I was designed for I don't think. I'm just real good at it! I know the Lord has been whispering in my ear for quite some time now that he wants me to sing for him, possibly internationally. I actually walked away from a record deal with an independent record company back in 2000 after cutting a demo with them, with the Marshall Tucker band backing me up on my demo. I don't know if you remember them?! But I assure you I walked away for good reasons though. I got officially divorced in 2002 after being married for 12 1/2 years. Raised my two beautiful children single-handedly, with God. And it sure paid off watchin' my 2 kids become productive members of society. I may have lost everything material in the divorce. But I'm sure reapin' the rewards of being a proud mom today! But it seems like ever since I walked away from a singing career, I've felt like I was moving more and more away from my vocation, 🤔and more and more closer to my occupation. Sounds funny to say that huh?! 🤔 And I believe it's because I'm so good at what I do in my occupation/ my career. But after listening to you speak on your video tonight, I can't help but feel even more trapped, then I did before in my occupation!! Which is an honorable job I must say. I know God has a big calling on my life, and while it's about money yes ... that's holding me here in my career today. There lives a void in my heart still, even at 53!! My mom and I often talked about it!! she says I'm much too talented to be doing what I'm doing in my life today as a career ... Mamma's words of course! And she says I was made for greater things, and when I listen to her speak, and look into her eyes, I know she's feeling, what I'm thinkin'. And she's right! I am very happy with the simple things in my life and very grateful to God for them as well. But I find myself at 53 I'm at a crossroads in my life. As you've said, sink or swim! I'm praying about it. And waiting on God to show me a sign, but I'm starting to think that God might be waiting on me to show him a sign! Either way I know I can't stay doing this, this way! I know I came to your channel for very good reasons! Because if God wants to get something through you, he has to get it to you first. And he will usually use anything, anyone, or any place to get it to you! I feel very blessed to have bumped into your channel Brooke!! I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your responses! I consider you a friend! And thank you so much for sharing with all of us viewers this very important message Brooke! I am not usually this candid with anyone, let alone comfortable publicly posting it. But for some reason I feel so compelled to do so this morning (1:44 am California time)! Maybe someone else needs to hear this as well, I don't know. but as I've mentioned I'm at a crossroads in my life and I'm really excited, and a little scared too!! someone mentioned to me not too long ago, that if I was dragging my feet because maybe I'm scared to actually make it! That really hit some true chords with me!! Perhaps I am!! I've recently been trying to purchase little things here and there to make up for the things I lost in the divorce like my music equipment. And I have to say it inspires me, and gets the blood flowing! 👍 Who knows where this will lead. But whatever the case might be I know that God is with me!! And I know that he is smiling down upon me because I have a good heart, and a genuine compassion for people. Well Brooke, I just wanted to share this with you! I love all your videos as usual! I always hit the like button and try to comment as much as I can on a lot of your videos. And after watching this video of yours you are definitely doing the things you set out to do since day one! God bless you Brooke Whipple, and everything you do, and everyone you touch!! Many thanks! With much love, Your friend always Callie Nash from Apple Valley California 🍎 🇺🇸👍🤙😏💓🙂 PS any heartfelt words of advice would be welcomed. A proud mom of a United States Coastguardsman! 🇺🇸 PSS ... Brooke Whipple you are not weird, you are definitely unique, and a rare diamond just saying!! 👍👍 God bless!! 💓
I know you made this a couple of years ago but I loved watching it! I left my life in Seattle in 2014 and haven't looked back and yep, it's been full of challenges but I have zero regrets and learned soooooo much! Thank you for making this!
I’m so proud of you!! YOU GOT THiS!! This is so me!! I try my best to inspire and to help people too!! It makes me very happy to do so!Omg I’m so pumped up and happy for you!! Instead of saying “I want to inspire people” change your wording to “I inspire people” (because you truly already do!! Your positivity and love for the outdoors is why I found you!) Start saying on the daily “I get paid to do what I love” and “money comes to me so I can inspire people and make them smile”. Think it, feel it, get it!! You’re so right about the thoughts! Someone had to THINK of that crazy cat shirt first, before It became reality!! Please get a journal, if you don’t have it already! (I’m betting you already keep a journal though, because we are so much alike!) Write all these Awesome ideas down!! All of them!! Write them all down!! Keep positive and practice gratitude 🙏 (which I know you already do, you are thankful and see beauty everywhere) OH MY GOSH THIS IS SO EXCITING!!!! I’m so pumped for you!! You are so right about believing in yourself and the things that make you happy!! It’s all in the mind! It really is! Listen people!!! This works!! How to unlock and live your dreams...... 1. NO NEGATIVITY! No negative words, instead of “I can’t..... change it to “I can, I do, I am” 2. Believe in yourself and the perfect way God made you! 3. Keep “an attitude of gratitude” Be thankful for everything in your life! Say it out loud daily (we all have blessings we take for granted! Like running water for example! You know how many MILLIONS of people don’t have running water in the world? So be thankful for yours!! Write down the things you are thankful for in a gratitude journal!) 4. Change the way you word things instead of saying “I want to be or I need” say “I AM a__________” or “I HAVE______________” so basically, replace I want and I need” with “I have and I am” (very important) 5. Write your goals down, when you write them, write them in present tense. Example if you want to travel and inspire people, write in your journal, under “goals” “I travel and I inspire people”~ keep writing them over and over, weekly if you can. 6. Pray or meditate daily, preferably in nature (whatever you believe) ~just quiet your mind 7. Practice love and kindness to others always, what you give, will come back to you. Let go of your ego, you don’t always have to be right. It’s more important to be kind! 8. Do not judge others, everyone is different, keep an open mind, it’s not up to us to judge. 9. Help those in need with either words, love, shelter or food or deeds. (Make everyday good deeds day) 10. Try your best to be happy daily, even if you don’t feel happy, smile! 11. Remember, your Chance of being born, was 1 in 400 Trillion!! (Some experts even claim 1 in 400 Quadrillion!!) so get out there and act like the absolute MIRACLE YOU ARE!!! Just by being here, we have already won the lottery!! Literally!!We are all so blessed to be alive!! Any day in which we wake up, is an absolute gift!! 12. You must put your thoughts and goals into action, even if it’s small at first! Yes, letting go can be scary, but trust God and the direction he is pushing you in!! And those steps I gave you people.... are the key to following your dreams! (Most of our obstacles are in fact in our minds) Brooke!! I’m so happy and proud of you!! I’m so excited for the journey that you are taking us on! It’s FABULOUS!! I know the weight off of you must be huge! This is what you were born for! You will shine bright!! So excited!! Sorry this is so long!! Love, from Oregon ☔️💕❤️🙏 ~Trina Marie
You rock lady. The pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity, the optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty. When it comes to the fork in the road, take it. I know that you are well into your new life plan, but this still holds true today
You go girl. That is the way to get things done. Just get her done. I am so proud of you for taking the stand and believing in yourself. I bet the family if right beside you on this one.
Girl I love ya!!!!!!! Congrats on breaking free of the chains ⛓ You got to live your life and make your dreams reality It’s takes a lot of strength to stand for what you believe in and the strong always survive!!!!!!!!!!!!
You need to change your life and spending habits to live a better more fullfilled life. Can you imagine, if you only owed a mortage and ins, plus utilties? You could do a lot more. Get a 6 month emergency fund started. Do you want to change? It's your choice. Start now. What are you waiting for?
That is awesome! You are doing what most people only dare to dream about doing. There is no doubt that you will absolutely Succeed And be happy. You’re awesome!
Back in 1980 I was bored and felt I was wasting away in school. I went to the recruiter and joined the Marines. I got to travel, start a family, lose that family to divorce, start all over again and did my thing. I retired in 2001 and now make a difference as a 911 Operator for the VA in WLA. Sure I'm leaving out the details but it's been a great life and I've been blessed with a great second wife and I can't be any prouder of my three adult children.
100% Best Information For Us…no matter our age!…thank you Brooke 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 your channel and “The Patriot Nurse” channel are so important in our screwed up day and time. I lost my wife and best friend of 50 years from cancer back on Easter Sunday 2017 (we were “outdoorisy” people) then my 50 year old “healthy as a horse” Brother in Law to Covid last year after less than a week after being diagnosed with the modern day curse…bottom line is we don’t know what tomorrow will bring…take and live each and every day like it’s our last…your channel rocks girl, again thank you 🙏
I have been a fan for awhile. But what is the Goal of every human being that has ever lived? Is it to be, as you said, who they are? I am 73 years old, and that by itself means nothing, but I have been all over the world, not to the extent that you have. But I believe that God has revealed the truth of who we are in the Holy Bible. All truth, the way we are to walk and the life that God intended us to have is found in our faith in Jesus Christ. All other roads lead to defeat. The question every human being should be is What is Gods will for my life? That is where true life is found, not in doing your will, but in doing His will. I hope this comment does not fall on ears that cannot hear. Love in Christ, Gary
I know how you felt this day. When you quit and shared the big day decision on your YT channel. I’m so glad you did. We’re all the richer for it! Here’s a 3 year belated big time congratulations! I quit my legal secretary spirit crushing job 6 years ago. I am now finally me, like you, never ‘normal’, but super energetic and being true to myself and passionate about being outside in nature. I now create outdoor inviting and natural living spaces. I am a horticulturist and garden designer. I love what I do every day. I love making people happy in their gardens.
you could make a career out of filming old barns when they fall down. Now i will admit there would be a lot of boredom and standing around and waiting, but still, i think people would be willing to pay for the video.
Wow, big words! So true! 8 years ago I was feeling miserable in my job, so I felt sick, l was at the office and had to run to the bathroom to vomit. In a friendly chat, l told my boss how much l wished l could quit, but he went to human resources and told them. Few days later l got a call from them and they made me an offer, a juicy payment if l signed my resingnation, of course l signed and went back to my desk to pick up my things, my co workers were so intrigued because of the change in my face, l looked younger and joyful! Two years later, my husband did the same thing. We are retired now (thanks God). We moved to a new house at the beach in a lovely small city. Today, l make journals, cards, scrapbooking notebooks, dream catchers, and many other crafts, l never vomit again. It was the exact moment to quit our jobs. We have grandkids, they come to stay with is during the summertime. My husband is doing what he studied for and loves the most, he draw plans. l feel so blessed and give thanks everyday. Hope your words and excitement, together with my story, helps people to seek for what they truly want to live up for!!!
I totally agree with you, I have a dream to fulfil but I'm by myself, I have no one to help me , I live alone, if only I had a good job but I hate my job, i never felt so miserable in my life before. But is like no one wants to hire me because I'm not young anymore...that really sucks...my job doesn't pay me enough either. If I had someone that would back me up I would have quit my job in a heart beat and proceed with my dream...so what can I do Brooke
You have escaped the quicksand. Well done! You have the motivation to follow your own new path. I waited until retirement which was too late, my knees failed (osteoarthritis) and stopped me from doing many of the outdoor/ mountain activities I love. You are a motivated and determined person. I wish you all the success in the world.
Have worked large companies and also had my own business for nineteen years. And I loved doing both. There are many advantages for working for large companies like paid vacations, healthcare being covered, etc. etc. And of course it is satisfying having your own business. The downside is that your working every day seven days a week, sixteen hours a day to make ends meet especially when starting out. And once you get bigger there are salaries to pay, equipment loan payments, employee problems and dealing with sales taxes, state and federal business taxes, various types of business insurance and all the complications of a corporation setup to prevent your from getting sued. And then of course you have those pain in the butt customers to deal with. After I sold my business as a part of a divorce I went to work for a major corporation in management for a major cellular manufacturing company. I was working fifty and sixty hours a week and it felt like I was on a vacation. No burden about preforming 150% every day, no worries about making payroll and having 22 employees and their family depending on me. In a corporation if I didn't feel like doing much on a particular day I could take a mental health day while still getting paid. I couldn't believe this outfit was paying me that kind of money for a life that was a heck of a lot less stressful than my own business. And they kept promoting me and increasing my salary, then came a company car, and stock options. All the while still having fun in the outdoors as a trip leader for a local chapter of the Sierra Club. Do I care to live in the woods off grid? Not a chance at my age I love my comforts. But hey, for those who enjoy rubbing a couple of sticks together to start a fire in the woods, more power to you. I'll stick with my Bick lighter with one more as backup.
It's easy to quit a job when you've got a husband that is bringing in additional income you've got somebody to cover the expenses but when you're self-supportive with nobody to turn to it's not that easy to quit who's going to help out paying the bills
Yes. Also not everyone has a bunch of ideas or an alternate vision for their life. At minimum you'd need that or you're just choosing homelessness. There is a lot of mental work that needs to be done on what you actually want before you can get rid of the safety net
Yes amen. Why isnt anyone saying this? I get what Brooke is saying and its inspiring but she's got a backup/husband. Much easier to do. I got no back up like that.
@@jewels3665 many people do not have a backup that doesn't leave them with a choice to be able to quit a job people that have someone to depend on are more fortunate they don't know what it's like to go solo and not have anyone to turn to
I can relate. I've quit several times to better jobs and now my husband and I are going to live like hippies and travel the United States before we settle down and then my art business can't wait 😊
Brooke, I just found this video tonight just after I found the website information to do something I've been doing for ages, and YOU are the inspiration I needed to get it done! Not going to make excuses anymore, I'm just gonna jump and let it happen! thank you!
I recently stumbled on your channel and playing catch-up on your videos. This one help a lot in 2021 especially with the things happening and totally hit home for me and light bulb wanting to quit. Thank you so much for sharing and love it all. Can’t settle anymore, thank you Brooke.
This is why I think you’re so awesome! I’ve been a programmer for 13 years and worked for myself from 2015-2019. Due to necessity, I went to work for a corporation again. Covid took my first “job” that I’ve had in 4 years and it was stressful, yet so relieving too. It’s time to revamp my life and this is the time to follow something that I’m passionate about instead of what I have to do. No more jobs - time to make it myself. ❤️ Thank you for this. Also, can’t wait til you schedule more events in Michigan!
I discovered you this summer and I just love what you and your husband do. You inspire me so much, so much so that we are thinking of looking for property and building off the grid as a get away for us . I retired from my job 2 years ago, it was difficult to do, but I had reached my breaking point with the people I worked with. I am now enjoying my quiet life here at our little home and enjoy doing my writing and crafting. I have watching your videos and look forward to your new ones. Thanks for all you do. ( we have a corgi also, his name is Bear! ) lol
Brooke I don't know about your other subscribers but you and your husband have inspired me and my husband of 36 years. We sold our retirement home and are buying remote West Virginia property. Love you! Thanks for inspiring me to get outside and happy! I'm a fan
I quit my job in 2016 and now I am an independent contractor and work from home and I love it. So glad I did it. My body has less stress and anxiety. I also sold my big house and down sized to a small mobile home and renovated it. I'm so happy I took the leap of faith and just did it. Love watching your videos so inspiring and uplifting.
YES!! This is what I am talking about.. you and I are the same. Follow your calling!! So proud of you and I wish you the best with doing what you are suppose to do.
HallaluYAH!! You are doing the exact same thing as me. I just decided that I want to LIVE,, not just exist. I bought a large tract of land in the mountains and I am leaving the grid-life behind FOREVER!! You are inspiring to all, thank you so much for teaching us how to LIVE!!!
I have to give you hour props bc I did just like you said most people do. I waited for retirement and for the last six years about every 2 years I've been doing nothing but taking care of one illness after the other. You make me want to invest my money in some property and live off the grid. Nothing big. Have a small cabin built, about 900 square feet, huge porch. Probably a few chickens,a dog and my cat. I love your cabin and being blessed with a man that likes that your independent. God bless you and allowing others to see just how happy you can be just living your dream!!
You gotta do what you gotta do. I retired at 65 and have loved it going to do a tiny home this spring and I do resin work and make stuff and paint. It is all good no pressure anymore. I was a CO for law enforcement for several years. I feel great now.
Good for you. I quit my Job 20 years ago and never looked back. There have been struggles and stresses over the years, but working for myself has always been a good decision.
I really realized this this year and am happy to report that I did a lot of thing Ive been wanting to in ages and never found the right people..so I started out alone ( on a long distance hike) and then the right people came into my life. But I still needed to hear this today! I get discouraged by so many people around me who have their usual 9-5 job existance...been a freelancer since 2013 and Im always struggeling a bit financially but I love my job...so don´t want to quit.
Great video Brooke I’m going back and watching all your old videos...I enjoy watching you. I worked for 40 years because I had to pay the bills ...just a year ago I left Maryland sold my house and bought a house in North Carolina I decided not to go back to work Unless I find something I’m passionate about.I don’t know anyone here , no family , and no friends I just felt like making a change and picked NC. My Husband and I are so happy we live in a small town and we can finally stop and smell the roses I have a fire pit that I really enjoy using like you say get away from the TV get away from the cell phones I just sit there and enjoy the fire and that’s what I’ve been doing thanks again You are such an inspiration 🤗 Kate
Aloha Brooke! I understand exactly how you feel! I just got fed up working my retail job my entire life...when my interests are in working in the outdoors, Archaeology/Anthropology. I started back in college a year ago, and am happily working towards my degree!!
I 'retired' from a 15 year Crown Corporation job this past August - I am so busy that I haven't even applied for my pension yet!!! I've been sewing since I was 7, turned 64 this year. My decades of 'practice' at my craft have built up a following that I can't keep up with! I make people cry, and they pay me to do it..... I transform Grandpa's shirt, or mom's dress, or ??? into heirloom teddy bears. I also take commission quilt jobs, or repair vintage toys and quilts - it is the best feeling in the world to support myself with my own two hands! I was always afraid to take that leap, but I put my faith where it belongs and He doesn't let me down. I look forward to each day, instead of dreading going to work. I also barter my time with a friend for her ethically raised meat, so my grocery bill is minimal :)
Now I live different.
awesome!
It’s also amazing to me anyway, how my “stuff” became less expensive important
Well that's freaking awesome you can make a living off doing what you love life is too short and God bless your wife for all the support.
Cant agree more with you. I would rather sleep underneath a bridge than being a slave to some employer who pays me a laughable salary. I am really happy for you Brooke. The best part of life is being fully self reliant.
Hi Lilly. I know you get it for sure. Yes, I agree. We could build one heck of a shelter under that bridge too! LOL Take care my friend.
Please reply with your opinions AFTER having lived homeless for a while
Love ur utube Lilly
awesome
Good for you girl. I can relate totally.
Thanks Lonnie. It's tough but soooo satisfying!!

LOUD AND CLEAR‼️
On this very morning, three years after you posted this video Brooke, I watched this particular video for the first time.
Taking me into a downward spiral only to come up for air when I’d busy myself at my 9-5🤦🏻♀️
I’ve put in notice for three weeks off from work beginning today.
The best of luck to you and your dreams.
yep you know
Love Alaska 🙂
The things about Alaska that scare me, grizzlies, and the dark, my seasonal affective disorder would kill me.
smileyhappyradio ha well to reassure your fears. We are having some brown bear issues at the moment. 😂 Part of living in Alaska.
I am 44 and it's never too late to try something new or even start over completely.
nice!
Fellow Michigander here. I am so proud of you today! You got this! Start a Patreon! You have a good community!
Not sure if bagging for money is what Brook is looking for! LOL
That's to cover production costs for the videos.
Now it's time to go home, get my car, and drive around the country for as long as I can.
go jay!
Love your vids Jay!
Yay Jay! Love the channel name...from a fellow Jay. I'll go check out your channel.
Brook, congratulations on taking this step to chase your dreams. You’ve got a lot of great ideas and most of all, you’ve got passion!!! Love it.
It’s interesting that this video came up when I logged on to RUclips today. Just yesterday I found out that the tv show I’ve worked on for the last 7 years is coming to an end. I’m ready for change. It’s time. Thank you for the inspiration!
"I'd Rather Be Weird." The title of your next book. ;)
I needed to hear this tonight as I am going through the same thing !!! Thank you and God Bless you and your family
How are you now a year on?? :)
Much respect for following your passions my friend. Wishing you the best!
You got this
thank you
Am so proud to be able to watch you and Dave! Doing the same thing to them.
keep at it Aubrey!
@@therealgirlinthewoods my son is a beekeeper. Got him interested in making mead. Gives him another way of selling honey. He'll be leaving for California sometime after Thanksgiving to take care of the bees. Be back in the spring. So proud of him too.
I'm retiring at 60...no if and or buts..I want to enjoy what time I have left
Do it! I waited until 65, my health is not what it used to be...but I have freedom!
George Marsilio Have you regretted anything about that decision? Thinking along the same lines...
Hope you stay well and are blessed.
thanks and good luck to you!!
i quit every job i ever had. They say a little hard work never hurt nobody, but i say, why take the chance?
LOL
Ha ha........ I LIKE IT!!😛

Brooke, you're just a quitter! Well, I am too. Hehehe...
I walked away from an IT career after 20 years. Sure, I'm still working for somebody else but it's a lot less stressful and I get time to do other things.
Wishing the best for you. You hit this! 👍👍👍
good job
Keep walkin.dont say bbn yer done.i waited to long but I finally did it.yoith helps but age makes is not as fun BUT YOU STILL CAN.
Absolute truth in every way. Total resonance. I teach this. I inspire. I empower. Be You. Be True! I so connect with you and your message. Thank you!
May God bless you in all your crazy, wild and passionate dreams. You’re the real deal Brooke. Go for it!!!
Good for you Brooke! It may not be easy, but it's all yours. That'll be way more satisfying for you.
That's how I feel about being a Man of God. Helping people with their Faith. It's a leap of Faith Amen
More power to you! I’m very happy that you were able to get yourself out of the same rat maze 99% of us are stuck in. You can do this!!
Thanks for the tough love and reminding us to go forward in faith and hard work!

My superpower is talking to plants. You'd be surprised what assholes they are! Very vain! lol
Probably the best and most useful rant I have ever heard ...Fantastic Brooke...delivered from your heart.....sincere and truthful...I have watched a few of your videos and really enjoyed them....You are a lovely lady...god bless...
Oh Brooke you just made my morning coffee🍵 more enjoyable😆👍, ty and you made me smile,I so love your inspiration,I'm retired and can do what I want when I want and I do things that other people think I'm to old to be doing, lol I'm a what you can call,(" i can do almost anything kind of person,") as my dad taught me well,I'm a semi mechanic, electrician ,plumber, construction, woodsman,("women ") lol you name it ,but I was truly just born with all these skills with a little help along the way,and I'm still riding the mini bikes lol,so with all that being said you go girl be happy and keep doing what your heart tells you that's best for you,and of course your family lol, great video 😆💙👍...
sounds like you got it figured out!
People who say you're too old to do whatever are actually saying "I wish I have the will to do it too!" That's the sad facts.
Train the chicken that's the best idea ever. Train it to get in the deep fryer all on it's own.
I'm so glad you followed your heart because you are a natural teacher and God his given you a special talent and compassion. 💙
Forever inspiring us, Brooke! Thanks for your wisdom
Good for you! You're right on
June 2, 2020
Hey Brooke,
Callie here.

Your happiness is whats most important , you have such a positive spirit Ill bet you are a pleasure to be around even in that tough environment.
Praying that the Lord will bless your decision and your efforts.
thank you
Love your determination keep doing what you are doing and good luck❤️
I know you made this a couple of years ago but I loved watching it! I left my life in Seattle in 2014 and haven't looked back and yep, it's been full of challenges but I have zero regrets and learned soooooo much! Thank you for making this!
I’m so proud of you!! YOU GOT THiS!! This is so me!! I try my best to inspire and to help people too!! It makes me very happy to do so!Omg I’m so pumped up and happy for you!!
Instead of saying “I want to inspire people” change your wording to “I inspire people” (because you truly already do!! Your positivity and love for the outdoors is why I found you!)
Start saying on the daily “I get paid to do what I love” and “money comes to me so I can inspire people and make them smile”.
Keep positive and practice gratitude 🙏 (which I know you already do, you are thankful and see beauty everywhere)
OH MY GOSH THIS IS SO EXCITING!!!! I’m so pumped for you!!
You are so right about believing in yourself and the things that make you happy!! It’s all in the mind! It really is!
Listen people!!! This works!! How to unlock and live your dreams......
1. NO NEGATIVITY! No negative words, instead of “I can’t..... change it to “I can, I do, I am”
Write down the things you are thankful for in a gratitude journal!)
4. Change the way you word things instead of saying “I want to be or I need” say “I AM a__________” or “I HAVE______________” so basically, replace I want and I need” with “I have and I am” (very important)
5. Write your goals down, when you write them, write them in present tense. Example if you want to travel and inspire people, write in your journal, under “goals” “I travel and I inspire people”~ keep writing them over and over, weekly if you can.
6. Pray or meditate daily, preferably in nature (whatever you believe) ~just quiet your mind
(Make everyday good deeds day)
(Most of our obstacles are in fact in our minds)
Brooke!! I’m so happy and proud of you!! I’m so excited for the journey that you are taking us on! It’s FABULOUS!! I know the weight off of you must be huge! This is what you were born for! You will shine bright!! So excited!!
Sorry this is so long!!
Love, from Oregon ☔️💕❤️🙏
~Trina Marie
Amen
You rock lady.
The pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity, the optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.
When it comes to the fork in the road, take it.
I know that you are well into your new life plan, but this still holds true today
the wilderness school and talking at schools would be great for you use your fame.
You go girl. That is the way to get things done. Just get her done. I am so proud of you for taking the stand and believing in yourself. I bet the family if right beside you on this one.

Jeffrey Yeip
Nope you can find a way out. God can lead you out.
Apply for bankruptcy and get outside and get happy, as Brooke says! lol
You need to change your life and spending habits to live a better more fullfilled life.
Can you imagine, if you only owed a mortage and ins, plus utilties? You could do a lot more. Get a 6 month emergency fund started. Do you want to change? It's your choice. Start now. What are you waiting for?
yep you are fucked
You can do this. Have faith believe in God
Your the best
I dont need mediation, I need this vlog daily. Reminder Reminder reminder. Thanks Brooke. You are a wonderful inspiration.
Love in Christ, Gary
absolutely. i did not mean to imply i'm alone in this
Sounds simple but it's so much more involved. We must be obedient to His word or else it's all for nothing.
LOL
Find a way to START. Find a way
Thank you Brooke...
God asks us to trust him, and even though some decisions may end up teaching us a big lesson, we always end up safe and more wise than before.
HOW YA GONNA BE ABLE TO AFFORD TO DO EVERYTHING YOU WANNA DO?
WHAT WAS THE JOB YA JUST QUIT?
Sometimes the things you really want to do doesn’t cost anything! Sometimes just having freedom is all you need to do everything you wanna do!
she has a husband who can support the family
Exactly
Girl in the woods, you do show us if we are passionate about something, follow it and make no excuses but embrace your dream Sister.
Amen Brooke! Preach it girl.
I need your enthusiasm. I'd love to camp with you!
Brooke, I just found this video tonight just after I found the website information to do something I've been doing for ages, and YOU are the inspiration I needed to get it done! Not going to make excuses anymore, I'm just gonna jump and let it happen! thank you!
So glad, I hope to see more of you on this RUclips chsnnel. You inspire me. It helps me to get outside and get happy!
Also, can’t wait til you schedule more events in Michigan!
good for you sabra!
Hi Brooke…..you are a very powerful public speaker. What your saying is 100% correct- thanks!
I'm a fan
wow how awesome!!!! congrats!
I love your channel. You are a great speaker. You love God, you are grateful, you follow your heart. Well done Brooke. Proud of you girlfriend.
Your words are so moving, Girl in the woods. You are so true!
YES!! This is what I am talking about.. you and I are the same. Follow your calling!! So proud of you and I wish you the best with doing what you are suppose to do.
Thanks T! You get it... of course you get it!!! Just look at you and what you're doing! Peace sista!
Today was the day! I had decided before I watched you today that today is the day! Thanks for influence will see how I do.
Love your channel and this message, and look at you now! Over a quarter million subscribers. So proud of you!!!
Awesome video! This comes at a time where I'm diving into this exact subject...trying figure out my "WHY".
My Husband and I are so happy we live in a small town and we can finally stop and smell the roses I have a fire pit that I really enjoy using like you say get away from the TV get away from the cell phones I just sit there and enjoy the fire and that’s what I’ve been doing thanks again You are such an inspiration
🤗 Kate
nice - enjoy!!
i found your channel couple of days ago.. i adore you. stay strong, as you are. big hug from Poland.
