Very nice. Im having trouble with size. First one, baret crown is too small. I cut a 10.25 " circle for the top, but probably with fit a youngster better. 2nd one I made 12" and it's huge! Going to try 11 next!
That's so lovely to hear~ thank you so much! Apologies for very late response but if you haven't got hold of the Marlene yet, it's available as a pdf in my shop at www.taradeighton.co.uk
I haven't tried this although it might be possible. I'd try using the ribbing you get for sweatshirts and cutting it to the band depth and as it sews onto a circle essentially it might work out? Let me know if you give it a go!
I used a wool tweed for my beret. You want a wool that's described as medium weight, suitable for jackets or winter weight skirts. It should have structure without being completely stiff and you want to avoid light weight or drapey wools! I hope this helps and let me know how you get on!
To get the headband measurement I measure around the circumference of my head keeping the tape measure around my forehead. There is a little demo in the video. I come up as the medium size but I like to make the third and biggest size so that it fits over hairstyles.
"there's nothing worse than a hat headache!" Such a lovely stash-buster. So elegant, Tara, as always.🌷
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
That is beautiful fabric
Really great, easy to follow. I just want to add a wool tartan band to my knitted wool beret, but I think your tips will help me with this. Thank you.
Very nice. I need a new beret pattern too....thanks for sharing

I find the large size is big on me but fits over hairstyles and generally I'm a medium size!

Can you make the band with an elastic or stretchy fabric? How would you do it? Thank you.

What kind and type of wool should I look for to make this? Shooing online can be difficult if I am specific.

@@TaraDeighton thank you.
How do you measure the inner part/ headband?
