Nice to find your video, I'm going to have a nosey through your others 🙂 I have recently made a coffin using mount board, painted to look like wood with purple cushioning to go in my Victorian inspired funeral parlour diorama 😂I love a bit of Victorian Gothic. Can I recommend another book - Rites of Passage - Death and Mourning in Victorian Britain by Judith Flanders. It was interesting but I didn't learn much more than I already knew. Thanks 😊

Tara- Brilliant Halloween project. My hack for matching elastic any colour… cover elastic with thin strap or bias fabric / I keep extra lengths left from projects so usually have something handy. I was getting so many coloured elastics which then go off & get binned. Now just white & covered saves planet & my purse! Thanks Tara.J.

Such a great idea! I used to be a crafter and have decorated many of these coffin boxes but never made them into sewing accessory boxes. Love the quilted effect too!

These are all really amazing suggestions for patterns and spooky movies. I'm definitely going to have to give a few of these a good watch this season. Not sure which outfit I'd try to make yet but I am particularly obsessed with Wednesday's costumes and have always wanted my very own 'Wednesday' dress (honestly ever since Christina Ricci played her lol) so I might opt for that one! I miss Penny Dreadful SO much! But it ended suddenly! There was still so much to unravel. Like the fact Ethan Chandler had no idea his girlfriend had been brought back my Dr. Frankenstein 🤯 . I was waiting for them to cross paths eventually but then it just ended. It was sad.

loved this video! I’ve made the Mabel twice & love it!! Plan to make another this fall! And I’ve made a Chemise pattern from Folkwear and I thought it was a fine pattern. I know some people aren’t fond of their patterns but I had no issues. I may need to make the pattern you showed along with that Vogue coat!

I'll watch dragonwyke tonight. I'm sitting here nursing a head cold. I like that 1940s-ish dress but I live alone and I can't have buttons in the back. Ha ha it turns into a contortionist issue.

I very recently sewed up the McCalls M8239 and will not be doing it again! The sizing was so out! Especially the cup sizes. I made the D cup (I'm a DD) and I had to take it in. I also had to shorten the bodice twice. I chose to make the smaller pointed collar but again had to make it smaller as it was still wider than the pattern suggested. I've been sewing avidly for 43 years and that patterns was one of the worst.

What a fabulous video! I couldn’t wait to click on it when I saw the title! Just to say that I made the simple version of the Folkwear Edwardian gown. I LOVED the pattern, it was perfect and the instructions were great. The person who sewed it was less perfect and didn’t let it hang before taking up the hem (I was in a rush!) The bias parts of the skirt really really stretch on this (as the instructions warned they would!) so in future I would give the dress a lot of time to hang before taking up the hem. It’s definitely one I’d want to make again 🖤
