For some reason I found your series of videos from Namibia the easiest to follow. Good that you give a lot of geographical infomation and explain a bit. Views are of course marvellous. Cheers!

An absolute great video on essential tips. We are a grp of photographers and intend to visit Deadvlei. One of our interest is astro photography, ie shooting star trails and milkway using the trees as back drop. How is it possible to stay for the night (some star trails may take 3 hrs or more) since the 2nd gate closes ard 8pm if we understand correctly. Are we allowed to stay inside?

Thanks for the positive comments. I know that you can camp within the reserve gates, but am fairly certain that you wouldn't be able to stay at Deadvlei overnight. It might be worthwhile asking if special permission can be obtained from NamParks. Perhaps others may have a more specific answer for you.

Thanks for sharing Chris! This is very helpful as I am planning a trip to Namibia in February 2024. Just a question, you seem to have taken the C19 to Sesriem, probably via Zaris and not the C27. Any particular reason? Thank you!

Thanks for the question Fernando. As far as I can recall we took the C13 and D707 from Aus then onto the C27, and I think we cut across on the D827 to the C19 near Zaris. Just to do something different. I hope that helps.

Thanks Chris, the D707 will it be fine to drive with a 4x2 bakkie?

Hello Drikus, when we drove the route it was fine, some sandy parts but nothing too bad.

Sossusvlei does not mean "dead end marsh". Vlei = valley (vallei in dutch). And Sossus is a place where water comes together.

    ナミビア政府よ、この地にトラクターとショベルカーと散水車を導入して植林活動に取り掛かって下さい‼️
