  • Welcome to the second video in this short Namibia 2022 series. In this episode we explore Sossusvlei and this corner of the Namib-Naukluft National Park of Namibia.
    My idea in this video is to share with you some tips, tricks and ideas for what and how you can photograph while in the park. There are some specifics and some other general ideas for what you can capture during your trip. I'm sure you'll find these ideas useful if even for general landscape photography.
    Big shout out to ‪@BrendanvanSon‬ and everyone who joined us on the trip. Also you at home for following along on the journey. Next up is Canada for Xmas with the family and then Antarctica in the new year!! See you there.

    Sometimes I get asked about royalty free music and the tracks I use. The music in this video was sourced via Soundstripe. Not Epidemic, Artlist or Music Bed but Soundstripe. It's awesome and I genuinely use this service to find new music every week. Help me help you. bit.ly/3y8Qn8l

    These are some of the best photos I've been able to capture at Deadvlei. Having that dark background and side light on such a unique subject really does make for some insane landscape images. Hope you guys like the video. I will upload the next one next Sunday right here. Stay tuned.

      Yeah these landscapes are super unique. Kinda why I tried to tailor the video for those looking to visit and photograph the Sossusvlei area. The tips work for other travel photography locations in general but you are right, this is not your everyday landscape.

I remember watching Brendan several years ago doing the 5k run out of the this park to his car to avoid being locked in for the night. Cheers ~Ron

    Very nice!! Sorry, but short gear question - Would you prefer a 100-400 or a 200-600 for Namibia all together (Etosha, deadvlei etc) ?

    • @gregsnell
      @gregsnell  5 месяцев назад

      100-400. Without a doubt.

    Hello from Niagara-on-the-Lake. Also, coincidentally, we’ll be in Hamburg in September where my camera of choice will be my beloved Ricoh GRIII. Anyway, I digress.
    Amateur photographer and normal travel gear is a Fuji X-Pro2 with an 8mm, 16-55mm, and a 70-300mm which if we do go to Namibia will be well used. Re the reach I think the 300 will do fine especially with Photoshop enhancement and Topaz AI and the image will already be compressed. One question, I love using a PL but unsure it’s useful the this environment but would a GND be useful when there is the sky present?
    Thanks again.

      @@davidabyrne3866 yes I have a set of Benro filters. It’s the Benro fh100m2 with a couple different NDs and Soft Grads.

    Face like a bachelors mattress at 15:41 Greg. Nice trick with the lens flare but didn't the lens hood block that out?

    • @gregsnell
      @gregsnell  Год назад +2

      Mr. Hardcastle. Watched your latest double video in one. Shitty about the storm taking all the leaves away. You know I don't use a lens hood. BTW I'm switching to Sony just as Nikko McPage says he's switching to Canon 😅 He obviously never tried the A1.

      😅Hahaha! Yeah, the weather was crazy. Lows of 16-18C at night with highs of 32-36C during the day. First few hours were the best temps for sure. It can get cold though, especially on the coast.
