Hello! I am one of the devs from Soma who worked on most of these titles. Thank you for the kind and fair review of our games! I'm glad you found a lot to like despite our rough edges.
Thanks so much for keeping Redwall alive, it's so cool seeing this world in 3D. I watched a ton of interviews of the devs at Soma, so I probably heard your voice at some point! I hope you guys can continue making these titles, cheers!
The last time I was aware of Redwall as far as video games went, it was ten or so years ago and just constant news that the game had been delayed. I'm surprised to learn that the games did in fact get made. Eulalia!
Tooth and Tail was an incredibly dark take on an industrial-age Redwall-inspired environment, full of revolution, war, and death. I'm glad it got a shout-out in this video!
It seems like an amazing game, I haven't been able to play it fully yet, would love to cover it or check it out more. Do you know other redwall-esqe games that I may of missed to shout out?
@@exitsexamined Sadly, I'm only familiar with Tooth and Tail. Mainly because I was a fan of other games made by the same developer (e.g. Monaco). There's still a surprisingly large competitive community for this game, which is no small feat given its age.
@@exitsexamined I suppose Small Saga could definitely be considered inspired by, or at least 'in conversation with' the Redwall lineage of 'medieval woodland critter' settings, much in the way Tooth and Tail is, but rather than the twist being "what does the ideological and economical turmoil surrounding the Industrial Revolution mean for such a setting?" it instead asks what the presence of humans (as in, modern-day, realistically-far-larger towering, proportionally-long-lived, megaconstruction-building, environment-altering 'gods' leaving no place on the planet untouched; but unable or unwilling to notice the intelligence or constructions of the various small animals and thus alien and callously threatening) means for such a setting. It's a really cool game.
This video is was so well made; it deserves so many more views. And I hope this doesn’t sound weird, but I love the sound of your voice. I can’t wait to get into the series.
Aw thanks so much for the kind words! It's interesting to think someone out there in the world likes the sound of my voice haha. Glad you do though! If you ever read the series let me know!
@@exitsexamined You're welcome. I've wanted to get into the series because I found some of the books in the dumpster of the highschool I used to go to. I actually posted about them on Reddit and Discord. I didn't know much about the series until lately, and that's peaked my interest.
A nice little retrospective/review. I would totally love to see you do a video on books/games inspired by Redwall. I know Humblewood & Everdell come up when it comes to board games, along with books like Mouseheart & Poppy, and videogames like Ghost of a Tale & Armello. Could make for an interesting vid :)

I would be interested in learning more about the different games inspired by redwall
I would love to do a video about them, Tails of Iron is incredible and I could go on and on about that!

A little thank you/shout out for those images at the intro would be nice. We don't have a Patreon to keep us going and it's appreciated.
Happy to support you guys! Added to the description now, cheers for the work!
