Hey bro I got into a accident on my cbr 500r I replaced the bolt for the gear shift but when I ride it now it does accelerate as fast and feels like the gear isn’t grabbing do u know what that could be also I don’t thinks it’s the clutch course it doesn’t feel lose it could be burnt but idk ?
@@mohammedfedda3476 it could definitely be the clutch. I would check the adjustment and engagement. Maybe something shift when the shifter itself got damaged? So also check for binding. The bike should shift smoothly up and down when on a stand. When riding the bike should accelerate and if you feel it is hesitating that could be a sign 🪧 of clutch slipping. I would check your oil as well. If it’s due change it with what is recommended and make sure there are no additives if you don’t buy from Honda. Car oil it different from motorcycle oil. It’s not made for wet clutches.
Does this make the shift throw shorter?
@@Dylan-ns3ku you can make it tighter or a longer throw which is subject to your chosen foot position or how big your feet are.
Hey man, I just replaced my shifter and followed this tutorial, but while I was riding, the rod that connects the shift lever and the compression bolt flew away on the road. Do you have any tips for making sure it doesn't happen again? the threads on either side weren't stripped so I think it just worked itself out slower over the course of my ride.
I would add locktite to the shifting rod threads and make sure she is tight. It sounds like you said. It just worked itself loose. I would double check everything because we don’t want that to happen on the road. Ride safe =]
So you replaced the shifter with a new oem one?
I need to check if my 2018 cbf's also got that much slop.
Yes. I could have gotten away with only replace the “heim” joints and move on. The shifter and lever to actuate. I have a second engine so I ordered everything. The slop was from the “heim” joint. Only $46 bucks for both peace’s. This happened because having a passenger added additional weight (don’t tell my girlfriend) to the bike so under load the gear ⚙️ didn’t fully engage and dropped out on us and upset the whole bike where we could have easily crashed at slow speed. If we did crash that would be a few hundred dollars damage to the bike and some road rash etc. So cheap insurance was to replace those parts. I learned a lot in that moment.
How do you know what position to put the new shifter on?
This is the riders preference. I should have gone into detail there. Basically I like mine just lower than the pegs so when my foot is resting on it there is not contact with the shifter. If I want to go down I blip the throttle and touch the shifter. If I want to go up I use the side of. Y boot and lift up always returning back to my neutral / natural position.
Edit: I hope that helps and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
@@803Garage thanks so much brk I thought I screwed something up
@@sanguiniusix9430 it’s only broken if you can’t fix it.
