      You're right, it should be a riveted link. I already have a new chain and sprockets that I will install in an upcoming video.

    Thanks for the detailed explanation of the whole remove and reinstall procedure!
    Small improvement on the 2022 model (CB500F): the shifter linkage already has a small white dot for the orientation.

      You're saying this to a guy who owns and maintains 7 bicycles, haha I know what you mean. It would be nice if a belt drive conversion were possible, at least.

      @@EndlessMoneyPits awesome! I don't know how to do that on my cbr500r or the intervals. Got a 2020.

      My service manual doesn't go to 2020 but I'll find out if the procedure is the same for your bike or not when I script the video.

    Very helpful! Where can I get a PDF service booklet for the cb500x? I would like to know which screws are tightened to which force.

    • @EndlessMoneyPits
      @EndlessMoneyPits  Год назад +1

      I bought a used service manual on eBay for about $35. Not sure where you can get the PDF.

    Think its ok to use brake cleaner if thats all i have?

    • @EndlessMoneyPits
      @EndlessMoneyPits  Год назад

      No, brake cleaner will dry out the rubber o-rings in the chain. Most degreasers will work.

    • @chrislepine200

      @@EndlessMoneyPits lucky my can of brake cleaner was empty lol. I used hot water with dish soap as degreaser with a chain brush. Turned out beautifully 👍

    • @EndlessMoneyPits

      That works too, just takes a little longer. Good job!

    Can you use acetone?

    • @EndlessMoneyPits
      @EndlessMoneyPits  2 года назад

      From what I've read, you should not use acetone because it will dry out and ruin the o-rings in the chain. It also drys faster than any other solvent, so probably wouldn't work as well anyway. Kerosene is safe and cheap, just keep it away from sparks and flames.
