Look at the place where the suppressors are. (The wire and the little tree. With your home made you are more to the right at the little tree, and with the Novritsch you are to the left of the tree closer to the dB meter. That distance will make a huge difference. Also the place of the end of the surrpressors is different, yours is almost past the dB meter and the Novritsch is more in front of the meter. These things change your numbers a lot. I have done many sound level measurements every cm changes the results.
Noticed that as well. It's almost like he did it on purpose. The top of his being beside the DB meter vs behind it would have a huge impact on the DB. The sound waves leaving his suppressor will of course be lower since the waves don't have a direct path to the mic.
Your foam discs are tighter around the bbs so it doesnt act as an echo chamber, while the novritch supressors foam circles have a wider hole. All the empty space vibrates into sound when shot through
Quick question for you. What is the diameter of the hole you made with your soldering iron? Just bought this mock suppressor and would like to do the same.
@@blakebilodeau6005 I put it on a gbb pistol and it really doesn't do much because most of the noise is from the slide going back and forth. I think the suppressor reduced the sound by like 10 dB
Hey man, I just reused some foam from a rode mic box so I don't actually know what its made out of. The sheet was 1/2 inch thick. Since this video is getting a lot of questions I will track down the foam and I will make an update video.
I think the logical reason why the novritsch suppressor isnt as effective for gas guns is because the air coming out if the barrel moves alot slower compared to hpa and co2. If you used higher density foam which is more resistant to gas guns, it would be more effective
@@airsoftconnor Yes I know but my point being that softer lower density foam is proven best for bolt-action airsoft snipers as the air isnt moving nearly as fast as a Non Blowback CO2 or Non blowback green gas gun. Take the foam disks in your suppressor and put them in the novritsch suppressor and see if anything changes.
TCircuitry a 500 fps sniper vs a 400 fps hpa m4 shouldn’t make that much of a difference. But the whole point of the video was for hpa, and making it quite. So thats why i was showing the difference between the 2 of them. I would have to test both suppressors on a sniper to see if your right lol
sweet video C-man - but please help me for the love of god - where do i go get the foam rings ? my p90 TR Silenced model came from Evike and had no foam inside - what to do
Usually airsoft guns with suppressors don't come with foam for legal reasons. If you don't want to make your own you can get the foam at rage customs airsoft!
Sorry, but I think theres something wrong with this test, the audio of both suppressors sounded basically the same and don't forget that DB is measured logarythmical, so 95 Db is actually four times as loud as 75 Db!
I tested it before and after recording the video, no wind, no audio interference. Same results. The DB meter also picks up other types of frequencies and I assume that's why it was saying it was louder. The one I made was quieter and its hard to hear over video. The Novritsch one was also huge and much heavier then the one I made so even if they did sound the same id still pick the smaller one lol.
It sounds the same because it’s recorded audio and the camera adjusts audio levels automatically based off how loud it is so that it doesn’t clip let alone the actual qualities of the mic itself and how good it picks up certain frequencies over other and also the fact that it’s compressed to shit by RUclips
i put Novritsch discs different : 3-1-3-1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2; is very big difference between without and with suppressor..and the frequency is different(is not high /strident anymore)
What do the numbers correspond to and which side is muzzle and which side is bolt? I’ve done something similar with the Nov suppressor for my SSX23 and the order of the baffles does make a big difference to the frequency and ‘deadness’ of the sound. Curious that someone else has tried something similar so would like to know more and which setup you found best
Trying to find a 14mm negitive CCW suppressor to use for my KWA KM4-RIS to use to fill with the foam. Which empty or suppressor do you recommend in order to fill with the foam? thanks!

Is shown at 45 decibel Maybe proof it again in the house or something
Both suppressors were behind the decibel meter in the video but I know what you mean it just looks closer because the Nov suppressor is bigger. It really doesn't effect the reading if I was closer or father away by a few inches. I tested it a bunch of times before and after the video in different areas because I was so blown away. I still got the same results. 70 decibels is a good number. I have another video coming out soon about this topic, and I put my gun in a gun stand just so there were no discrepancies like what you were talking about. 45 decibels would make your gun one of the quietest in the world, what type of gun is it on? Since the video is getting some traction I will make another video making a suppressor as well as another comparison with different foam materials.
I guess the bigger size is actually worst as it doesn't force the air to go into the foam
You would probably have to get some more dense foam for it to work
