✅ Thanks so much for watching! Check out the information below to learn more about quartiles and some important details that were not covered in the video... ✅ With an odd set of data, you can either include or exclude the median from the lower and upper half of the data. In this video, I used the exclusive method. This means that the median is excluded from the lower and upper half of the data when finding the lower and upper quartile (this means that I excluded the median 8 from the lower and upper half). The other method is called the inclusive method. This means that you include the median in both the lower and upper half when finding the lower and upper quartile. For example, the halves would look as follows with the inclusive method (lower = 1,2,4,7,8 and upper = 8,8,10,14,15). Both methods can be used, but each will give a slightly different result. ✅ Something I’d like to mention about even sets of data is that the lower and upper half can be odd. This is different from the video where the lower and upper half were both made up of four numbers, so each half was even. Here is an example of an even set of data, but each half will be odd: (1 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 6 , 7 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 12) There are ten numbers in that data set. That means that the lower and upper half will be five numbers each. In that case, you will have a number directly in the middle for your lower and upper quartile. For this example the median = 6.5 (in between 6 and 7), the lower quartile = 2, and the upper quartile = 8.
I teach an Adult Education Class and I feel that this video will help the students to gain a better understanding of the process by visually seeing it done and hearing it explained at the same time.
Hi Mr.Jay, Thank you so much! You make math so much easier. I never understanded quartiles but now I feel like they are so simple. Keep up the good work and thank you so much!
this video actually saved me because my maths teacher tried to teach us this and he just kept on making so many errors and was doing this weird over complicated method. until I found this method I realised it’s so easy to workout 😭💀
Thanks so much for your video, it really helped me to understand the topic. this was my first time that i'm looking in on the topic and i found it fun and easy.
But in some cases formulas like Q1=(n=1)/4th term are used to calculate the term and then they are interpolating the values. Which is correct. Which one do I have to follow.
It s false because with an even number n of data, the median is (n+1)/2 and will be an k,5 where k is a n integer. Howver, to find a quartile, it will be (k,5+1)/2 which will equal to k,75 or k,25.
This dose not make a lick of sense! I didn't even have this in college math. Who comes up with this crap! Do people just get bored and say let's complicate things?
And if you just hate how this is taught so much why don't you just work to become the person who comes up with all this stuff and teach it hoe you want to

Ok
Ok and
wouldnt 49 divided by 2 = 7?
No. 7 x 7= 49. If you did 7 x 2 you would get 14
