Giving Colin the respect he deserves. A great bassist knows when to play, and when not to play.
100 percent. Colin is top class.
I have to admit I was in two minds when i saw the thumbnail for your video pop up on my feed, but i watched anyway and loved your reaction.
Heartfelt and genuine. Loved it!
You're spot on about Colin - check out Decks Dark , the bass line is supreeeeeeeeme!
FINALLY! Someone agrees this is Beatleley!!! This was the track that made me start connecting Radiohead songs with Beatles songs. Once you start, it’s hard to stop and the connections are easy to make although I’d be interested if other people have made them… This is their All You Need Is Love. I Might Be Wrong Is their Daytripper. Karma Police is their Hey Jude… like I said, it’s really hard to stop once you start… 😂 I’d love to know if other people have made Beatles connections.
More like the journey than the finished product as to the Beatles and this sounds more like a Lennon song from his first solo album than a Beatles tune but yes I have noticed many beatlesque parallels over the years.
With this band The rabbit hole is deep.
One of many truly great Radiohead b-sides but they have so many more.
Radiohead spent ages working on an interactive exhibition for PlayStation 5 called Kid A Mnesia, and released it last year. I just played it at a friend's place, and it's immense, at 8.5 gigabytes!
It comprises digital components from both the Kid A and Amnesiac albums, as is truly psychedelic.
Until 2010, the song was known to fans as a Radiohead song with the title "A Pig's ear", then it was played several times in 2010, first by Thom Yorke solo then Radiohead... This version was scored by Jonny Greenwood...
Great, great, song!!! Really Beatlesque !!!!
The climax is incredible 🔥🔥🔥
Great reaction!
Thank you !
I'm a fan of Radiohead's Lotus Flower. Very interesting video too.
So glad you did this one, I love this, and also YES that's exactly the feeling I got when I first heard it, Thom at the piano, made me think of John Lennon, THAT chord progression, (totally got your whirlpool comment) then that drop when the band fully comes in, man..
This is one of my favourite Radiohead tracks, it's angry and it's powerful. Packs an emotional punch, like all their music.
I knew you'd love it.
Those unexpected chord progressions = so unmistakably Radiohead
This was a great song and reaction.
Great to see more Radiohead requesters on the channel, big up “Johannes?” 👏🏻
Thank you, and yes, it's Johannes
Amazing ❤
I didn't know this song of them, Their most well known song Creep was covered by several artists, one of them was Mónica Naranjo a famous Spanish singer, is one of the covers, I love so much , Happy weekend👏🏻👍👌🎸🎹
Oh yeah - covers I can think of - no Beatles that I know or Lennon, but The Smiths, Neil Young, New Order, Portishead - some, like The Smiths being their influences and others like Portishead being their contemporaries...Thom does a hell of a Neil Young cover - on Neil's piano, of "After the Gold Rush"...he related a lot to Neil Young due to wrestling with his own high delicate vocals and feeling comfortable early on. Amazing solo acoustic show of Thom doing Radiohead songs alone with an acoustic at Neil Young's annual Bridge Benefit where many amazing artists also have amazing sets on YT - that is part of the whole 'just scratching the surface' of this band comments...there are so many tracks from the 9 albums, like 100, plus another 75ish B-Sides a high portion of which are very much legit, not at all throw away stuff, then solo stuff, side projects, live acoustic sets with just Thom and Jonny the 2 leaders if you will, from different era's, Thom's solo work, Jonny's Oscar nominated movie music composing, "The Smile" the current 'substitute' Radiohead side project until they hopefully do a 10th (and I'd guess if/when likely final) album...I love a gazillion other bans and genres but that is why I am fully roped in as a hardcore fan of this band above all - but, screw all that for now, just keep enjoying some cool tunes man! Love your reactions since you started doing SRV, my other favorite, mad respect for your takes. Always feels good when it happens that someone you already liked in this arena gets onto 'your band'...and is always honest, knows music, and will tell it straight, good bad or other, but glad you are vibing and starting to work out what I did back in the late 90's before a lot was to come that just made it all even better.
Radiohead did Joy Division's "Ceremony", Thom also did a cover of "Love will tear us apart" as part of Atoms for Peace
The moon is a rock
on a mountain
The lunatics have taken over
the asylum
Waiting on the rapture
Singing, "We're here
To keep your prices down
Feed you to the hounds
To the Daily Mail"
Together, together
You made a pig's ear
You made a mistake
Paid off security
And got through the gate
You got away with it
But we lie in wait
Hey hey, hey hey hey hey
Hey hey, hey hey hey hey hey
Where's the truth, what's the use
In hanging around, lost and found
With your head in the sand
Fat chance, no plan
No regard for human life
Keep trying, you've no right
Fast and loose, you will lose
Jumped the queue, go back again
President for life
Lord of all
that flies in the sky
The beasts of the earth
the fish in the sea
You've lost command
Nice one Rory…. and Johannes 👍🏻
Thank you Johannes that was incredible!!! I really enjoyed it and am interested in hearing more so please play more Rory...😊
That was awesome!! Awesome reaction Rory and thank you Johannes for this awesome request 😊🩷🤘✌️
I just LOVE this song it's awesome, so powerful and emotional
Not sure if you've seen this before in comments etc, there are 2 separate "From the Basement" concerts from Radiohead - you've done clips from both so far - 'In Rainbows' in 2007 and for their next album, a more experimental style though this track is a true highlight - "The Daily Mail" is not on the album but released with another great song as a single shortly after the album, cut live from this very show (ironically for what was one of their more divisive albums they left off maybe the 2 best tracks but they don't care about legacy and such to the level some might, I'm sure they care, just not much) - 'the 2nd concert is this concert, 'The King of Limbs: From the Basement" which is by many fans including me, superior to the studio album by no small distance - just kind of inspirational and mesmerizing to see them reconstruct these songs live and have them come off even better on virtually every track (and I do like the album - but these 2 concerts are the epitome of enjoying Radiohead - especially the 1st concert, which is to me, amongst the 'top 5' band moments - if you will - in their journey (for example the release of "OK Computer" being another). And right on about Colin on bass - my band plays a lot of RH songs and I'm glad I'm not on bass (not that the chord changes and guitar tones and such are particularly easy on certain songs - a LOT of songs).
Radiohead 🔥🔥🔥🔥
It’s been amazing watching you fall in love with Radiohead. It’s like falling in love with them all over again. You should check out Beck if you haven’t yet. Especially from the album Sea Change
Bro, you need to do his latest EP Bending Hectic, by The Smile
Defending Brand? Whoops.
B side aswell . Didnt make the album
It came after the album already had been finished but this song and the other one would have made the album seem complete.
