    ordered one in launch event :) it will be my first larger 3d printer, first mod will be definitely swapping motherboard fan, then playing with voltage of stepper drivers to see if they can run quieter at reasonable speeds, enclosure and then we will see, in time maybe stealth burner .... will see :) anyways great video, keep up the good work :)

    I want to see a printer manufacturer work together with reviewers on a printer.
    So many potential issues could be mitigated before these reviews.
    FLsun might be doing that with their new S1 and T1 printers.

      Sovol does work closely with us, I have direct contacts and good communication. I think Nero3D chose not to talk to Sovol possibly to bring more drama into his content. It's mostly just a "show", unfortunately at the expense of a dedicated but relatively small 3D printer company :(

    Very interesting! About curtain fans .. after some experiments on the SV07+ (the only printer I've used so far) I have begun to believe that curtain fans are a bad idea. When I last used a curtain fan (it's been completely removed for at least a week now), I saw that it was differentially cooling some of the organic supports that sloped heavily in the +Y direction, to the point where they were getting angled wrongly and out of position. Anyway to fix these problems I designed a dual 5015 parts fan bracket for the SV07+. It is ugly but works pretty well so far. It doesn't do any finely directed air, but rather an area effect that can be felt more than a meter away from the printer. It's up on Printables. For moment arm reduction during X axis acceleration, I wanted to keep it as close to the X crossbar as possible without running into anything. It lets me run the printer faster now.

      I’ll take a look at your model! I hadn’t thought about the SV07 curtain fan being an issue. Since I’ve been using Christian Vick’s Klipper Printer Additions, it doesn’t run at full capacity all the time

      You mean the SV09? Let's take one step a time... The nozzle is standard, the new Sovol standard,,, from the pics it seems to me the same as my T300 came with. So hopefully they will stick with this form factor for their next couple of printers. Then 3rd parties might just start to supply these too. The nozzles used in their last 3 printers (SV06Plus, SV07 and Plus) are already available from Micro-Swiss. I am sure they and other nozzle specialists will soon have their version of the T300/SV08 nozzle as well.

    I’ve dropped thinking of the SV06 plus, and will go for this in stead. I’m not in a hurry, so I can wait till mid July when it is available in my area. Hope they by then have sorted out reported pre-production issues.
    Regarding nozzle: will there be some bigger ones, like 0.6 or 0.8 mm? Think they would be better match for the higher printing speed.

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@mg_customs8531 Yes, I am quite sure that improved slicer profiles will be available by the time the printers ship. The skewed bearing stack had an incredibly easy solution; Nero3D simply had to replace the short peg holding the idler with a longer one. I hope this issue was a one-off, but if we notice something similar in the printers we receive from the first batch, it will have a quick, 1-minute fix! A new printer model is just that-a new model. Even with years of development and months of beta-testing by several dedicated members of the development team and the community, it’s inevitable for first-generation devices to experience some teething pains. As this is a major flagship device, I am quite confident that Sovol will be committed to correcting any issues.

      All of them are good, though I don't yet have hands on with the SV08 (a few more days). Right now my opinion of value (price not taken into consideration) SV08 > SV07+ > T300 > SV06+. If you look at price then the SV07+>SV08 and the regular SV07 for $219 is tremendous value. I would not recommend the SV06 / Plus in 2024, unless you get them with the Klipper upgrade, but then their price is not so competitive.

      It is the new standard nozzle for Sovol printers. The recently released T300 is using the same. I am getting 30mm³/s max volumetric speeds with PLA. It is a copper plated 0.4mm high flow nozzle+heatblock combo for easy swapping. The SV08 comes with a 0.4mm installed and a 0.4mm spare. You can order 0.2mm - 0.8mm nozzles from the Sovol website. Why would I buy this printer for $600 when on Amazon has a Crealty Ender 3 KE for $300 on Amazon?

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  5 месяцев назад +4

      ender is a 220³ bed slinger, this is a 350³ coreXY, almost 4x larger build volume for a similar desk footprint, with all linear rails, not just X, fully open Klipper, not a propriety OS, and speeds, especially Y and Z accelerations a magnitude higher. That's not mentioning AC heated bed, camera, load cell, accelerometer etc. This printer is in a different class (closer to creality k1 in form factor, but much bigger in build volume). Printers this size normally cost well over $1000, for $500-600 this is a bargain

    It seems that no matter what, these companies never actually listen to the community...
    They're ALWAYS missing SOMETHING that was an obvious upgrade.
    Even if that had to tack on another $50-100... nobody would care if it was actually done right man...
    Look at Bambu, they're clearly doing well and put in the effort.
    Nobody expects a 1:1 there, but they HAVE to do better and properly test these things.
    I can already tell this one is going to be a disaster for some people..

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  5 месяцев назад +1

      I think we are expecting too much from the size of a company like Sovol. In the live stream Ben mentioned, they only have 70-80 employees including manufacturers! That is crazy to expect them to compete with a DJI subsidiary of 500 employees. I think for their size the SV08 is an amazing and similarly disruptive product because of the extreme value proposition. Yes, early batches might have some teething pains, but they feel overly committed to iron out any wrinkles.

    • @zenginellc
      @zenginellc 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@gerGoPrint3D Perhaps you're right, but they're launching it with simple, fixable problems that were clearly overlooked.
      They're marketing themselves as better than other brands for the price, but the feature-set doesn't matter if the machine breaks within a month or two of purchase.
      Fortunately, their customer support has been amazing comparatively to other companies, so I should probably give them some slack.
      I'm not the one making these machines, so I don't know what kind of red tape is involved.
      I'm sure they're needing to meet deadlines for various reasons. Partly, I have become frustrated with Sovol specifically due to constant issues with my SV07, which seems like a never-ending battle. Sovol was touted as a cheaper alternative to Bambu by many, and their marketing gave me the impression that was their intentions as well.
      I will give them more time, and strongly consider their SV08 option for my next printer.
