Fun fact about the beginning and end. The mall carpark is called "twin pines" and by the end it changes name to "lone pine", all because Marty Mcfly runs over a tree at the farm he went to at the start of the film
Not only that, there's a 9/11 reference to the twin pines as well cos the conspiracy theorists even included this one like the Simpsons predicted future events.

@@jamesbooty It's not a plot hole at all. There would be no reason for them to become suspicious. Plus I'm not sure which rules of time travel you're following, because there are no rules. Sorry to burst your bubble lol.
@@moriellymoproblems7842 - I'm following the rules established by the film, such as that when future events are changed, they create an alternate timeline which skews from the original, and continues down its own unique path from there. In the version of 1985 that Marty returns to at the end of Part1, Doc remembers meeting him in 1955. He brought the letter from that encounter with him to the mall for the time machine test, he wears a bullet proof vest, and he and Marty also talk briefly about what was said when he was given the letter. Given all that, surely he: 1 - already knows the time machine works 2 - knows all the trouble that is created by Marty accidentally travelling back in time when running from the terrorists So, one has to wonder why he doesn't take any measures to prevent that. Perhaps it's because he knows that it all works out - and maybe even for the better since surely over the course of their friendship, he and Marty have talked about how this improved Marty's family life.... but this then begs the question about how he and Marty become friends in this timeline. And - George and Lorraine clearly remember their encounters with Marty since George writes a book inspired by them. Therefore, he would have to get suspicious when their third child - which they name Marty - ends up looking, sounding, and acting exactly like the guy that helped them get together 30 years ago.
@Move_I_Got_This - :D right!? The more you think about it, the less sense the end of Part1 makes. A more likely scenario would have actually been that when Marty returned to the (now lone pine) mall, Doc wouldn't have even been there - having no need to test his new time machine that night... all sorts of stuff probably would have been different, and Marty would have still been a fish out of water.... but that doesn't make as good of a movie ending :)
Marty only spent a week back in 1955, they probably forgot about him. They would remember George standing up to Biff, but not that Marty engineered the situation (which Lorraine never knew anyway). When he was born he wouldn't look like he does as a teenager (Fun fact: Michael J Fox played teenagers well into his 30s because he is quite short and has boyish features).
I fell in love with her on "Some Kind Of Wonderful," and "Howard The Duck"...Hate all you want, it's still a classic in my mind. And why does no one ever mention "Space Camp"?
24:19 I love how I grew up as a young kid watching this film trilogy...but it wasn’t til I rewatched in my early twenties and all the piece clicked about this scene... The fact the musicians were not boxing in their car with weed...love it
32:48 - Ellie, just in case you were confused, Doc didn't get electrocuted because he was wearing some thick gloves. It was still a powerful jolt, but he didn't die from it. But I'm glad I'm not the only one who still gets emotional every time I watch that scene when Marty gets sent back.
This trilogy is full of little easter eggs. For example: -At the start the mall was called "Two Pines Mall", but after he traveled back in time and crashed that tree, now the place is called "Lone Pine Mall"
Great movie part of the one perfect trilogy that has not being ruined by Hollywood remakes yet. Fun fact the guy who tells Marty is too loud is the actual singer of the Power Of Love :)
Im pretty sure that DIrector ZEMECKIS has it specified that no one can remake this in his lifetime, maybe forever -which is alright wth millions of fans of this trilogy
Something you might have missed, before Marty went back in time to 1955, the mall was called Twin Pines Mall because the farmer who use to own the land, old man Peabody, grew a pair of Pine trees on his farm. When Marty was avoiding being shot by him in 1955, Marty accidently ran over one of the Pine trees. When we get back to 1985 and Marty runs up to the mall, the name has changed to Lone Pine Mall.
Marty was playing with the band, who the lead singer/guitarist was Marvin Berry, cousin to Chuck Berry, who wrote the song "Johnny Be Good". So the movie is insinuating that Marvin and Chuck were given the idea by Marty, who knew the song by Chuck in the future...
This is a great example of the causal loop paradox. Chuck Berry copies Johnny B. Goode from hearing Marty McFly's performance at the dance, but Marty learned the song from the Chuck Berry recording.... so who actually wrote the song and when?
@@jamesbooty I'd say it's still Chuck Berry, because he wrote it in the original timeline. The movie shows no evidence that Marty had travelled back to the past during his parents "original" history, and the song still existed.
The can of dog food automatically is opened, emptied then dropped into the waste basket. It's a clever way to indicate that A) the doc is probably an inventor, B) he and the dog haven't been home for some time (see the overflowing dog bowl and numerous cans in the basket) and C) he took the dog with him and forgot to turn off the device. By the way, Kal Kan (seen on the cans) is a real dog food brand (love that product placement).
When this film was first released, it was intended to be a stand alone one. However, due to it being the biggest box office hit of 1985, it had many people wanting more and wondering what happens next. So, they released parts 2 and 3 a few years later. Most of the main cast returned, but the notable exception ended up in a matter that caused some controversy. I guarantee you'll like parts 2 and 3 if you have a look at them.
Here’s an Uber-nerdy Easter egg I never see anyone else mention: in the opening sequence with all the clocks, one of them looks like the clock tower and an action figure resembling Doc is hanging from it, just like in 1955
While that particular clock might foreshadow Doc's predicament, it is a scene from a movie called "Safety Last" with Harold Lloyd from 1923. To the best of my knowledge the two Lloyds aren't related. : )
The actress who plays Marty sister died a few years and the actor who played his brother played Jimmy Olsen in the Superman movies with Christopher reeves
You think Ellie's enjoyment of this movie created the existence of your day? That the day itself would have ceased to be otherwise? Or did you mean "figuratively" instead of "literally"?
That was fun watching your reaction. You made me think of P.J. Soles, of STRIPES (1981) and the original HALLOWEEN (1978) fame. My mother grew up in the 50's and she said that she really felt like it was the 50's there because they did such a good job of capturing the era. Fun little note about the mall...If you pay attention, when Marty first arrives to meet Doc, the name of the mall is Twin Pines Mall, but in the end it is Lone Pine Mall, because Marty ran over one of the pines on Old Farmer Johnson's tree farm. Did you catch the name of the farm on the fence?
FYI, historically, the song "Johnny B. Goode" was released in 1958 (by Chuck Berry, the guy on the other end of the phone), so Marty was about 3 years early with his rendition. Of course, his stylings at the _end_ of his performance were quite a bit more out of sync with 1955!
Take it from me Ellie, I was 30 when this came out and even then we knew there wouldn't be flying cars by the 2000s, or 2020s for that matter! LOL! Electric cars, yes. Not flying ones. "Some shouldn't even be driving on the ground, let alone flying over your neighborhood", most generally said and still do BTW. And tens of thousands of them?!! My understanding is the last scene was a joke and not something super serious. But, because it was such big hit movie the public demanded a sequel and a few years later they produced the final two, which was filmed essentially back to back. The producers and the director said if they knew there would be sequels, they'd have ended without a flying car. But, I will warn you not to watch the very, very end of Part II because they'll show a lot of scenes for Part III. So if you don't want see the spoiler scenes, stop the next movie at the end right when it says "To Be Concluded". Most definitely do Part II and III later. Fun series and a lot of thought and work went into it. And the time-paradoxes are interesting to contemplate. Time travel shows are fun! If you like to see a real George Pal classic do "The Time Machine" (1960), and then after the 2002 remake. Both are good adaptations of H.G.Wells 1895 novel. 😁👍
Flying cars are the worst idea ever. You mention the shitty drivers that exist now, but even beyond that, I certainly wouldn't want a car dropping on my house when it breaks down in mid air.
The graphic for the thumbnail isn't from this movie. It's for "Back to the Future: The Musical." It's obviously not Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.
The person who is playing the teacher saying it is just to darn loud is actually in real life the musician who played and sung the song Marty is performing
Ellie, did you notice that at the beginning the mall was named "Twin Pines" and at the end it was named "Lone Pine"? Marty changed the future when he ran over the pine tree.
Most of the exteriors of HIll Valley town square/Main Street were filmed on the Unviersal Studios backlot. Its also where they filmed most of the outdoor scenes for another tv series aired recently on Disney+: Wandavision!
One of my favorite things about this movie were the town square scenes and though I wasn't alive in 1955 to know about 50s authenticity, some of the scenes reminded me of Norman Rockwell style paintings.
Doc was hanging, holding on to cables but he only "functioned" as a conductor. Because his legs were NOT touching the ground he would not get electrified. Also this is trilogy of the movies you realy should watch all three. And one more extra there were made some prototypes of hower like cars only fuel for it was too big to spend. It was just like some test models.
Ellie. I would rather watch you while you're watching a movie, than to see the movie myself. There's something special about seeing the world through your eyes.
"You built a time machine...out of a DeLorean?" is a joke because in real life, the DeLorean was a horribly unreliable car, hence why the engine cuts out before Marty's time jump and after he arrives.
I don't think the joke was because DeLorean's were unreliable, but because it was considered a very odd, but "cool" car, and building a time machine out of any car was odd.
@@firstenforemost nah. It really was a garbage car and everyone knew it then. Besides, it was underpowered as well. People now don't understand the joke because the movie made the car famous.
One of the many clocks at the start of the film had a man hanging from it. The 1955 Twin Pines Mall sign is shown as Lone Pine Mall in 1985 because Marty ran over one of the trees back in 1955

If you do watch the sequels, note that the actress who plays Marty's girlfriend changes to Elizabeth Shue. (You may recognize her because she has had a successful career and continues to land sizable roles today.)
33:42 why doesnt anyone notices!? .... Twin Pine Mall turns into Lone Pine Mall ... after Marty ran over the pine with the car the first time he goes back at the beginning into the farm
Flying cars in 2015? That's how we viewed the 2000s back then. Anyway, there are Back to the Future reunions every few years where the actors come and meet with fans sign autographs etc. The guy who played Biff is a loyal contributor to all of this and really supports the brand. He enthusiastically participates Back to the Future as it is his (and others) claim to fame.
In the Italian version his name is Levi Strauss since the Calvin Klein brand in the 80s (when the film was released) was not so famous as to make you understand the gag.

Your accent cracks me up, Yours was my favorite reaction to a movie I have ever watched. Your facial reactions were amazing. I loved every moment of it!
Everyone talks about how "Oh I wonder why George doesn't get suspicious about how much Marty looks like... well... Marty... and accuses Lorraine of cheating". Let me lay down some things: 1 - Marty is CLEARLY not into Lorraine; he goes to too much effort to hook Lorraine and George up. 2 - Marty is only there for 3 days. Now I don't know about you; but I can't remember perfect details of someone's face I only knew for 3 days 30 years ago. 3 - Marty and George look alike. Like a LOT alike. Crispin Glover was chosen because of this. Plus: if George DOES remember "Calvin" that well, he's a huge sci-fi nerd. There's a reasonably good chance he might wonder about a few things. Calvin accidentally called him Dad. Calvin makes that joke about when they have kids setting fire to the rug. Calvin plays that song, says "your kids will love it". Calvin dresses as an alien and calls himself Darth Vader. You take all those clues (in particular the Darth Vader reference), and you expect me to believe George doesn't reckon his kid might have travelled back in time?
34:50 he probably realised that having met Marty in the past was why he acted as a friend to him in the time before the movie started, so he’d already used knowledge of future events to shape the future in a desired path...so he’d already done it, what’s another instance...

All three of these movie have a way with ramping up tension during the climax.
This trilogy is full of little easter eggs. For example:
-At the start the mall was called "Two Pines Mall", but after he traveled back in time and crashed that tree, now the place is called "Lone Pine Mall"
Spoiler alert.......
Eastwood Ravine.
Actually it's huey lewis
"His mother is a playful little.... 🙄...girl..."
😂 Oh Ellie, you're the best
"Nooooo, my eyes are burning! NOOOOOOOO!" LOL
Just a minor detail correction; the song title is actually "Johnny B. Goode".
@@spccewe7223 100% correct. thanks for the correction!
"Let's see if you bastards can do 90"
They can't, but the rocket from the RPG will...
I had pretty much the same thought. "Doesn't matter if they can; the RPG can do it easily."
I’d pay good money to see the PRV push a D to 90. Hint... it can’t. 🤣🤣🤣

Ellie, I LOVE watching these movies with you. Your reactions are great and you make it all more fun! Can't wait to see more!
First time??? Really? I´m still amazed when people watch such classics that have been around for my whole life :)
I adore Ellie, she´s adorable :)
On November 5th 2015 I wrote on my Facebook "Where's my F-ing Flying Car!"
Here’s an Uber-nerdy Easter egg I never see anyone else mention: in the opening sequence with all the clocks, one of them looks like the clock tower and an action figure resembling Doc is hanging from it, just like in 1955
Never saw it
While that particular clock might foreshadow Doc's predicament, it is a scene from a movie called "Safety Last" with Harold Lloyd from 1923. To the best of my knowledge the two Lloyds aren't related. : )
@@charlesborden8111 interesting!
@@THEPATRIOT1000 I didn’t see it until very recently. I don’t think it made the edit on this particular reaction

I loved how much Ellie enjoyed this movie, this literally made my day.
Mine too
No way doc's dog is alive after 30 years , dogs can only live up to 22-24 years
The actress who plays Marty sister died a few years and the actor who played his brother played Jimmy Olsen in the Superman movies with Christopher reeves
One often overlooked joke is the way the faulty ignition on the DeLorean used to fail ALL the time.
Last night, Darth Vader came from planet Vulcan and told me if I didn't get Lorraine out to the dance he would melt my brain! LOL!
I love the added bit of the deleted scene, where he uses a hair dryer, aims it at George and refers to it as a death ray or similar
I don't Darth Vader from the planet Vulcan, I would gladly take Lorraine to the dance
“Well let’s just keep this Brain melting stuff to ourselves OK?”
“Oh yeah, yeah...”
I wonder how George handled that into adulthood
@@mikeaninger7388 I’m more concerned with how neither George nor Lorraine recognise Marty as being the spitting image of Calvin.
Gotta like that combination of Star Wars and Star Trek references.
Honestly just getting a DeLorean up to 88 mph (141.62 km/h) is quite an accomplishment all by itself.
19:51 an expression of shock...and directly descriptive of what they were heading for...gotta love when you can use cursing in such beautiful ways
in case you didn't know who that guy was talking to on the phone during the dance, it was chuck berry, the father of rock n' rock. :)
Not only that, but it's also part of the conspiracy theories of 9/11 references predicted event aside from the Simpsons' show to it.
@@SaRENRampaiger Good point.
That's Huey Lewis saying, "You're just too darn loud." His band performed at least one song on the soundtrack.
The song that they were actually playing at the time.
Two songs that I'm aware of. "Power of Love" and "Back in Time"
Are you naturally stupid or do you have to work at it?
fun fact = the Delorean wasn't made for the movie, but was built by the Delorean motor company between 1980 and 1983
WHat's so fun about that?
It blows my mind that people haven’t seen it.... but I’m glad they’re seeing it now
I loved watching the movie through your eyes - wonderful reaction - just like watching it for the first time again...now - you HAVE to do Part 2!
People now don't understand the joke because the movie made the car famous.
not sure why but seeing old burger king 80's look brings back some good memories.
Your stressed-out face when Doc is on the ledge trying to reconnect the cable, and Marty is trying to start the car...! Lol!
At 2:30 the second man from the left is Huey Lewis. The man who wrote both the Back To The Future theme song as well as The Power Of Love.
One of the many clocks at the start of the film had a man hanging from it. The 1955 Twin Pines Mall sign is shown as Lone Pine Mall in 1985 because Marty ran over one of the trees back in 1955
The judge on the mega-phone is Huey Lewis, the one who wrote "Power of Love".
I love the subtle first hint that something's different in the present: "Lone Pine Mall."
The guy with the megaphone saying he's too loud is Huey Lewis who sings the song that's playing, The Power of Love.
First time watching one of your reactions and have to say your wonder and enthusiasm are infectious. great job and I'll check out more of your stuff
Fun fact: Huey Lewis ("The Power of Love") also made songs like, "It's Hip to be Square", "Happy to be Stuck with You", "I Need a New Drug".
I Need a New Drug was ripped off by Ray Parker Jr for the Ghostbusters theme; he had to pay a settlement to Huey L.
Want, not need.
Form 1985, to 2015 to 2021 and beyond.....this movie wil always SLAP!
Oh my gosh I LOVE it when she says OH! 🤣😍
One of my absolute favourite films. Especially the music is fantastic!
It feels like I’ve just watched a completely new movie with you… 😄❤️
Saw this in '85 when I was 12. Perhaps not the best film to watch with my mom...
I was 8
Sweet i first saw this movie in 2001 i was 17 my family saw this movie on vhs years and rented the sequels i was very young i believe it was 1990 when he rented part 2 and later rented part 3 loved part 2 remember seeing it on vhs i was 7 we recorded it on vhs have all 3 movies on a dvd box set🩳
Me too
2:34 That is actually Huey Lewis who wrote the song Marty is playing, Power Of Love
Everyone noticed in the theater back in 1985 when I watched it...
I just stumbled across this channel, and my first impression seeing her reaction was "this girl is just too adorable, I gotta subscribe."
Wait til you meet Michelle and magy!
I liked your reaction. You were so into this movie! Now you have to see #2 and 3! They really are an overall great trilogy. A classic.
Hi I'm George, George Mcfly and it's a pleasure to meet you
In the Italian version his name is Levi Strauss since the Calvin Klein brand in the 80s (when the film was released) was not so famous as to make you understand the gag.
In Spain they used that name too
@@alfredoaxl510 I know that in France they used Pierre Cardin.
*Hey, now you know a little of it was like, being a kid in the 80s! In the theater, during this movie, at least..."EW EW EW!!! That's your Mom! EWWWW!!!"*
🤣🤣🤣
Always found it funny that the Teacher that says his band are too Darn Loud is Huey Lewis who sings The Power of Love! ROLOL
Your accent cracks me up, Yours was my favorite reaction to a movie I have ever watched. Your facial reactions were amazing. I loved every moment of it!
Yes, please watch the whole trilogy! I watched them each at the theater when they were first released. I love your reactions.
"I Am Darth Vader From The Planet Vulcan" LMFAO 😀😃😄😁😆😅😂🤣
Everyone talks about how "Oh I wonder why George doesn't get suspicious about how much Marty looks like... well... Marty... and accuses Lorraine of cheating".
Let me lay down some things:
1 - Marty is CLEARLY not into Lorraine; he goes to too much effort to hook Lorraine and George up.
React to Red Dawn 1984. WOLVERINES!
32:10 Yup, one of the most anxiety-causing scenes in cinema history. The nail-biting was definitely expected. 😁
It was a real privilege to watch your reaction. Thank you.
10:53 - “He will marry his own mom?” Bwahahaha 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I died laughing so hard!!!
34:50 he probably realised that having met Marty in the past was why he acted as a friend to him in the time before the movie started, so he’d already used knowledge of future events to shape the future in a desired path...so he’d already done it, what’s another instance...
“I’m afraid you’re just to darn loud”. Said Huey Lewis. Of Huey Lewis and the News.
Your smiles light everyone up Ellie
You'll never see this, it's such an old reaction video; but Ellie you are amazing, love watching you react to these movies.
Love *Ellie's* emotions good bad or indifferent. She NEEDS to watch *(My Girl)*
Ellie is very expressive, whether she's expressing joy, amusement, anger, or sorrow. It's what makes her so beautiful and charming.
