People will never give credit where credit was due. Hyundai used to be shit but they are getting better and better every year. It was only a matter of time since they started dominating In technology.

Firstly: Oorah!, Brandon. Stay vigilant out there, Marine. Secondly: Something to consider - If you actually like the Genesis coupe then that's one thing and more power to ya fella! Even though they basically have the same motor, if you're concerned with price, why not go with a GT v6 Tiburon instead? I built my '04 up and it was a damn beast of a Tibby bud! This thing could move.. not just stroking my own ego or any nonsense, my Tib smoked any mustang - be it "cobra", "rousche" and whatever else they had that tried to make them seem tougher and faster than they are. She almost took on this vette, but with only 5 gears and too much load for my fifth gear to handle, that one got away. Regardless, this car sure as hell made anyone who thought their ride was quick think twice about taking on a Tiburon! With a $3k "iced" stage 3 sniper supercharger kit from NGM, large lower crank pulley, corvette C6 injectors, upgraded fuel rails, an AEM F.I.C. and CAI system, reinforced valves and springs, race camshafts, stage 2 clutchmasters flywheel and clutch disk, short-throw shifter, converted Subaru fortune coilover suspension, front mount intercooler, NGM high-flow upper intake manifold with large plenum, lower high-flow intake manifold, custom built 3" headers, 3" down pipe and full exhaust with catalytic converter removed and finally the rebuilt Magnusson MP62 blower - turbine supercharger. She put 400 hp to the ground and had enough interior work done to lower the car's weight to 1800 lbs. Needless to say if you didn't have the right tires equipped for it, you were spinning them in 1st and 2nd gear while continuing to chirp them in 3rd. After converting the differential to rear wheel distribution, it became a car to be reckoned with. Anyways, Tiburons have a great potential and should not be underestimated! Since mid-summer 2013 I've sold the Tiburon and bought a 2011 Subaru STi DGM Limited Sedan. Beautiful car inside and out, but I damn sure do miss that Tib!

@@cuzzyj1972 no dude, I just read this and laughed my ass off.. say that to my 640 hp NA porsche.. this is just an old 911 base, cheapest of the line with the least power. Turbos are fast but a non turbo 911 GT3 still pulls a mile on a 600+ hp gtr..

All you have to do to figure out which model Porsche it is, is look at the design of the rear-view mirror, two "arms" means its a 997 because the 996 and other models before the 997 did not have that design on the rear view mirror. Having said that, it is most likely its a Naturally Aspirated Carrera which is still a 911 but the slowest of the lineup.
@minimaluhftv True Porsche is not for drag racing. But it does have a good power band thru out the motors RPM range but then more power/torque kicks in at mid to top end.
i would like to call bull shit... i love the gen coupe but its not faster then a porsche and if it is then who is stupid enough to by that slow of a porsche
Not bull shit at all. This is a base Porsche that's heavier (convertible), with an automatic and has 20-25% drive train loss. Lot's of cars will beat that and I'm not surprised by this at all.
David Kinneary somebody who likes the convertible aspect and the Porsche badge but doesn't want to spend big bucks for a really fast one. Hell I would have one and I would give absolutely zero fucks about the dude in his Genesis
Most people don't buy a porsche for strait line speed. They either buy it for the panty dropping affect or the fact that the car has a high quality materials, handles well and has a lot of features. There are more to cars than strait line speed. Otherwise everyone would be buying up all the 5.0 Mustangs in the world.
Alexander Teusch Porsche is not heavier, even the convertible. Porsche 3250 lbs, Genesis Coupe 3500 lbs. In addition, if you noticed, the Genesis is an automatic, the driver was not shifting as he is holding camera with one hand. But yeah, I'm no surprise at all that the V6 Genesis is faster.
Sorry, I was referring to the new Porsche PDK. It has a dual clutch. They tested this model and did 0-60mph in 2.7sec. I don't think any manual car can perform that well. I agree the manual is more fun to drive though.

matthew von I just went out to the garage and checked my Genesis Coupe. Nope. Not plastic. Cheap? What is expensive? A GTR? A used metro is expensive to some. Oh your trolling. Perhaps you would be better suited to watching Camaros and Mustangs race.
Actually, Motor trend recently did an article called Top 7 quickest car under $65,000. The Genesis 3.8 was on 7th place with its 5.0sec 0-60mph. I know this was the new one with more power, but the older one isn't too far behind either.
@normanmj You wouldn't believe this, but, while I was out today, I happened to be right behind one of these 3.8 GC's and I was actually thinking about challenging the driver to race. Thing was, with noone to video it, I'd never be able to claim I murdered it.
@Chettaman12 Base hp is 345 hp, then 400hp and then 500 hp turbo and 530hp turboS. A 345 hp 911 would eat a Genesis. No need to mention what the other power levels would do to it.
Your point is? The S2000 is still a Honda and the GT86 is still a Toyota. Your aimless import hating helps no one. :) If you want to hate, how about calling them out for "racing" in automatics.
Kassius Duplessis at least the s2k and gt86 are balanced cars in terms of both handling and power. drag racing is weak imo, not that I dont think other people can like it, just sayin.
Andrew Lee As far as drag racing goes I don't like it either... Like you said other may but it's not my cup of tea. It's that they're racing automatics, all you have to do is mash the throttle a you're done imo that's not a race.
Justin Martin yet it makes more power na than any honda engine even the turbo type r and makes more power than the vq37hr lol but yeah engine design is trash
@ilovecars510 But which one, my Crossfire spanked a Carrera S from a dig and and he used launch control! I left him by 7 cars by the time I hit 3rd gear and he was revving at the light! I think those are 320 HP! The turbo is the only one I fear, but a regular 911 was 325 hp in 2008 and 345 in 2010, so the big question is was it way earlier than those??
4WD has 25-30% power loos. Genesis has good power gains from mods - with his mods he was around 280 - 290 whp. Porsche - 240 whp Base v6 does not have turn signals on mirrors.
If you read reviews on the Genesis coupe, they say the manual trans is imprecise and clunky. Also, the new Genesis comes with a high tech 8-speed automatic. So, I'd say the auto is a better choice in this car.
@weirdvideosdude Auto and dual clutch has alot to do with the feel, just like 4wd has alot to do with the feel. Steering input is greatly affected by 4wd vs 2wd. If you want the Porsche feel without blowing 50k, here is what you do: Buy a basic carrera 2s, strip its interior and install coilovers and sticky tires. There ya go. You have the best Porshce.
@jod2991 Well they did, it was 13.8s before, i got the muffler bypass today and today tested it and got 13.2 The ECU is not completely adjusted for the bypass yet so its might get even better
@rocketmagnet427 Yeah, but check the car out and you'll see that you can actually still shift the car manually with the automatic transmission. There's even paddle shifters on the steering wheel for that. Whether or not you chose to use it is up to you. I guess this guy didn't.
@rigMM25 for 2010 only .. from mid 2011's model ecu was updated and it stopped cutting power when shifting quickly .. motorweek tested a manual 2.8 2011 and got an average of 13.45@104.8mph over 6 runs
@N3cr0n0mIV actually looking through the mirror, seeing the reflection off of the hyundai, and using the knowledge i knw about Porsche it would be a 1996-98 911. Professor Porsche would be proud of me.
@SwingKatt1 Is the Genesis lighter than the Porsche? The Porsche almost pulled away from the Genesis. You said it has 50 more HP and only does 0-60 a second faster than the Genesis? I think this race was just a matter of who the best driver was.
@datboybspeedin a stock 2011 3.8 manual has been tested by motor week at 13.45@104.8mph and a bone stock 2.0t can run a 14.6@94-96mph and no a G37 won't wax a 2011 3.8
@dunti21 The genesis in the Premium, Track, R-spec, both 2.0T an 3.8 comes with the brembo. The track an R-spec come with track suspension an Torsen limited slip differentials. Summer tires, an 19" alloys. An only available in manual. 2.0T R-spec 24,500$ the 3.8 R-Spec 27,500$. The 2.0T premium 26,750$. The GT or Grand touring 29,750$. The 3.8 Track 30,750$. An none of these come in a dual clutch 7 speed gearbox. Unless you meant the Audi RS3. They are 6 speed or automatic.
An awd with more power vs a rwd with less.. You loose some oomph with an awd above 60 due to drivetrain loss.. Takes a lot of power to push 4 wheels vs just 2..
@alc84 yes it did .. like ive said it's a power to weight ratio .. it could be a civic owning that porsche .. it's not because there's a porsche badge that it will be quicker than a cheaper car
an automatic transmission uses a torque converter ..yes it can shift gears without user intervention but it's NOT an automatic transmission it's a "DSG"
@dunti21 I never said they had any actual racing roots. Just that they are attempting to head that way. An that they probably could afford to put a dual clutch in. Why they don't is beyond me.
@davidpaulin I just watched the Motorweek video, and they got 0-60 in 6.1 and the qtr in 14.4 @100. You sure you're not thinking of the sedan with the 4.6? Those numbers sound about right for the V8 Genesis sedan.
i used to mess with corvettes with the genesis with just a turbo upgrade and simple bolt ons running over 400whp on a haltech ecu.. so yeah i dont know much about cars .. u just built engines and tune them myself and have my own 5 axis milling machine for custom engines .. yeah youre god and you know everything ... we got a badass over here ppl watch out!! this dude is about to rule the world
@weirdvideosdude I would buy a used -05 997 S or a early Cayman S with low miles, for a fraction of what almost the same car would cost new today. What do you drive?
Bruh did that using 87 octane too. No hate for one of the track kings the 911 but you gotta give it to genises man. Even the 2010 3.8s have insane power naturslly aspirated and have keyless entry, like wtff its a 2010. Im always impressed by them. MaShaAllah nazar na lagay
@Aurion2008 Racing roots are definately an automatic gearbox. If they really wanted racing roots (which hyundai doesn't really have btw) then they would put only a 6 speed manual... oh, and as for gas mileage, as I said before, it's not that interesting...
I know headers, full exhaust (Headers are included...headers, up pipe, down pipe, cat-back...) and intake got me close to 90hp after the tune at 21psi on my wrx
What is the base HP for a Porsche 911? I'm sure it has to be more than what the Genesis 3.8 is putting out. If not then we all know the difference between a Porsche and a Porcupine (might have spelt it wrong).
@Aurion2008 Thanks for the price list. RS3 doesn't come in manual, and it's "automatic" is a dual clutch automated manual transmission. I know the hyundai doesn't have dual clutch, thats too advanced for them...
lol the guy in the genesis made me laugh.. first he starts out by thinking " noooooo monicaaaaa" then he begins to pull and hes like a little kid in candy land!
@weirdvideosdude You have good taste, its a shame what happened to your Porsche. Is the rx8 any good? Reliable? Easy to tinker with? They are dirt cheap here in Sweden by some strange reason and feels like a lot of bang for the buck
@mikec81 ive spent about 5k in mods .. running a bolt on GT30 turbo at 18psi with intake and turboback and im getting 12.12-12.3 times @ 115-116mph untuned
faster shift times, yes. more efficient, no. automatics cant see they're about to crest a hill and put the car into neutral, then put the car back in gear as soon as the speed starts to drop at the base of the hill. the major efficiency of a manual comes from putting the car in neutral/pushing the clutch in (for short periods of time, like around turns, don't wanna ride an open clutch)
@KonfusedMind it just depends on the mods honestly .. i have a 2.0T genesis that makes 380whp and i eat mustangs and camaros for lunch .. if that 3.8 has full bolt ons and a tune it can make anywhere from 320-340whp but that one probably makes less .. the porsche is a 997 c4 cabriolet so it's not the fastest model .. btw the 2013 genesis makes 350hp and has an 8 speed transmission
I love watching his reaction. Goes from "sweet I'm racing a Porsche" to "Hey... I'm hanging with a Porsche!" to "OMG I'm beating a Porsche!!!"
The kids face in the Hyundai was overjoyed just when he started passing him like he found a twinkie in his pocket.

based on the reflection off the Hyundai, the porche own reflection in mirror, this is a 1991 or older regular 911... 0-60 in like 5.5 sec...
@jod2991 Well they did, it was 13.8s before, i got the muffler bypass today and today tested it and got 13.2
The ECU is not completely adjusted for the bypass yet so its might get even better
@alc84 the car is a 997 c4 cabrio
does it seem odd to anyone that the engine sound on the porsche is really low? Doesn't sound like he was full throttle
@AnnaGaasi
and it is still a porsche, isnt it?
whats header and exhaust brand on the genesis ?
was that sal from impractical jokers??
@N3cr0n0mIV actually looking through the mirror, seeing the reflection off of the hyundai, and using the knowledge i knw about Porsche it would be a 1996-98 911. Professor Porsche would be proud of me.
@SwingKatt1 Is the Genesis lighter than the Porsche? The Porsche almost pulled away from the Genesis. You said it has 50 more HP and only does 0-60 a second faster than the Genesis? I think this race was just a matter of who the best driver was.
@chuchum3 that was just an auto coupe .. the manual would be a few lenghts farther in front of the auto model ..
@AnnaGaasi even so
how much is it !
@datboybspeedin a stock 2011 3.8 manual has been tested by motor week at 13.45@104.8mph and a bone stock 2.0t can run a 14.6@94-96mph
and no a G37 won't wax a 2011 3.8
Oh I meant 325, with only exhaust, x pipe and a intake, 340 is good.
So it's 325Hp stock against suped-up to 370Hp, is that what you're saying?
An awd with more power vs a rwd with less.. You loose some oomph with an awd above 60 due to drivetrain loss.. Takes a lot of power to push 4 wheels vs just 2..
Was he Gen coupe modded? I beat a 3.8 by half a car length in my Saab 93 TurboX on a 40 roll but I doubt I could beat a porche lol
@xfifx1
It's also a $100 000 vs $45 000. (45k because of the tuning
It didn't sound stock to me. Since when is the stock genesis that loud?
I wonder how much that twin turbo set up cost?
@davidpaulin Really? And you have the link for that video? Inside Line tested theirs at 14.3 and didn't even break 100. I'm skeptical.
@alc84 yes it did .. like ive said it's a power to weight ratio .. it could be a civic owning that porsche .. it's not because there's a porsche badge that it will be quicker than a cheaper car
did u capture it with the iPhone 5!? its got the purple haze ppl hv been "complaining" about ... lol
an automatic transmission uses a torque converter ..yes it can shift gears without user intervention but it's NOT an automatic transmission it's a "DSG"
@dunti21 I never said they had any actual racing roots. Just that they are attempting to head that way. An that they probably could afford to put a dual clutch in. Why they don't is beyond me.
@PeopleWish Not anymore. 5+ years ago and I'd agree with you
@davidpaulin I just watched the Motorweek video, and they got 0-60 in 6.1 and the qtr in 14.4 @100. You sure you're not thinking of the sedan with the 4.6? Those numbers sound about right for the V8 Genesis sedan.
i used to mess with corvettes with the genesis with just a turbo upgrade and simple bolt ons running over 400whp on a haltech ecu.. so yeah i dont know much about cars .. u just built engines and tune them myself and have my own 5 axis milling machine for custom engines .. yeah youre god and you know everything ... we got a badass over here ppl watch out!! this dude is about to rule the world
I really like that lip spoiler, what brand/model is it? I'm thinking of getting a 3.8 Grand Touring and if I do I want that spoiler on it.
@weirdvideosdude I would buy a used -05 997 S or a early Cayman S with low miles, for a fraction of what almost the same car would cost new today. What do you drive?
@Norm Cutter, 5.0 Liter Hyundai? As far as I know the 3.8L and 2.0T Genesis are the only performace cars Hyundai makes.
Clearly you don't use google lol. The 5.0 is 430 hp and it's a luxury car on top of performance.
If not then we all know the difference between a Porsche and a Porcupine (might have spelt it wrong).
damn didn't the 3.8 genesis come with brembos ?
@Aurion2008 Thanks for the price list. RS3 doesn't come in manual, and it's "automatic" is a dual clutch automated manual transmission. I know the hyundai doesn't have dual clutch, thats too advanced for them...
I definitely want to say that genesis coupe is an automatic, the guy is holding the camera and the steering wheel, no signs of changing gears by hand.
so when cars come slightly slower in power bands compared to the manual versions, what does that mean?
lol the guy in the genesis made me laugh.. first he starts out by thinking " noooooo monicaaaaa" then he begins to pull and hes like a little kid in candy land!
Yessirr i peeps the fast and furious reference 👌🏾👌🏾
well, is the hyandai, was fixed?
@weirdvideosdude You have good taste, its a shame what happened to your Porsche.
Is the rx8 any good? Reliable? Easy to tinker with? They are dirt cheap here in Sweden by some strange reason and feels like a lot of bang for the buck
@mikec81 ive spent about 5k in mods .. running a bolt on GT30 turbo at 18psi with intake and turboback and im getting 12.12-12.3 times @ 115-116mph untuned
Okay, but does it go around turns like a 911?
you were probably racing the 2.0 i4 genesis. the one in the video is the 3.8 V6
How much hp this genesis coupe has? This car should be much slower stock.
311 stock
306hp SAE non GDI. 348hp GDI.
@T67GS300 Genesis was pushing around 325-330. No more.
faster shift times, yes. more efficient, no. automatics cant see they're about to crest a hill and put the car into neutral, then put the car back in gear as soon as the speed starts to drop at the base of the hill. the major efficiency of a manual comes from putting the car in neutral/pushing the clutch in (for short periods of time, like around turns, don't wanna ride an open clutch)
@T67GS300 Porsche has 325hp, idk about genesis but i think around 340
@KonfusedMind it just depends on the mods honestly .. i have a 2.0T genesis that makes 380whp and i eat mustangs and camaros for lunch .. if that 3.8 has full bolt ons and a tune it can make anywhere from 320-340whp but that one probably makes less .. the porsche is a 997 c4 cabriolet so it's not the fastest model .. btw the 2013 genesis makes 350hp and has an 8 speed transmission
hmm have you owned a hyundai recently? I think they are pretty reliable these days.
exactly, always remember reputation multiplier and increases the power like a nos lol and so is price giving a magical money boost.
