Though they made a lot of choices that seem to be small mistakes, I give them a lot of credit for making a gritty Spider-verse with real people with real complications. Unlike some people I can enjoy that realism.
It's one of the 2 things from the Raimi movies that I'd argue have gone on to be iconic in what know about Spider-Man, they other being the upside-down kiss (which afaik also the movies invented. and the comics have since then adapted).

If I were superman but my will was to protect one person at the cost of many lives, well, that should be fine. People without a will to do something inherently lack the power to do it. If you have the will, truly, then you gain the power needed to accomplish it. Just because someone is smart doesn't mean they should make other peoples' dreams come true, right?
