    Why doesn’t this have more views?? This is probably the best guide I’ve ever seen for this method and I can’t wait to try it

    Doubt you're still responding to comments on this video but I was wondering if you knew if catches are still more likely to continue your chain as opposed to KOs, similar to how Bulbapedia says the radar works in DPPt? Thank you for the resources, they're still helping people to this day!

      The “capture bonus” mentioned by Bulbapedia for D/P/Pt radar supposedly increases odds for the correct species of pokémon to show up in the next encounter but only for the shake cycle directly after the capture. This “capture bonus” doesn’t actually help much in practice because more often than not you won’t get an ideal patch spawn directly after an encounter. The “capture bonus” is extremely relevant in BP/SP radar chaining however because in those games you are always guaranteed an ideal patch spawn every shake cycle.
      For X/Y radar chaining the odds that your chain continues with an ideal patch is higher than in D/P/Pt and MUCH higher than in BD/SP whether you capture a pokémon or not so there is seemingly no need for a “capture bonus” to exist. However, a few years back there was a Datamine done on X/Y radar chaining that determined the existence of a “capture bonus”. The result from the Datamine wasn’t super clear but from what I understood the “capture bonus” for X/Y radar chaining only increases the odds for “fast shakers” to appear on the shake cycle directly after the capture. If this is indeed all the “capture bonus” does in X/Y radar chaining then it’s not worth capturing every pokémon for such a negligible benefit. In my experience, I can build radar chains more reliably in X/Y capturing nothing than I can in D/P/Pt or BD/SP catching everything, X/Y radar is just that much more lenient in comparison.
      I hope that made sense. I’m glad you are still finding the resources useful.

    Thank you very much for this incredibly detailed tutorial with fantastic linked resources. You can certainly see the great effort you put into this, thank you, I'll be using your route analysis document quite a bit! Always loved Gen6, and had stumbled into some working methods getting shiny Scatterbug for all the forms, but so much here I never knew. Wish I saw this years ago :D
    EDIT: I had wondered what you though of the listed Gen4 odds, and the Gen6 research of 23, 43, 63, 83% of fast shakers. Now that I've watched the rest of your videos, I see you covered it in the "Shiny Patch Odds" video. You must surely have the definitive info on XY radar methods, such well presented data and resources!
    My own confusion to the 83% was resolved realising this is fast shaker odds only, that medium can also be shiny, and separately, those numbers have no bearing on the odds the chained Pokémon doesn't appear. What those odds are precisely, I guess remains an open question, but as you gathered so much experimental data I trust your 98-99% for zone 4 numbers a whole lot!

    Thank you soooo much for this tutorial! I chained with poke radar in Pearl before and it's a bit different. So of course for my first Pokemon Y shiny I wanted Dedenne from route 3 that you had listed to have hardness of 10/10 and first I was failing a lot. Well, thanks to your tips, I finally did it! My next one will be something easier though. This is super fun. Thanks again, very well and throughoutly explained!

    does it work in BDSP und DPP the same way?

    • @HP-id3nw
      @HP-id3nw  9 месяцев назад +1

      BDSP has an extremely simplified version of radar chaining and most of what I cover in this video doesn’t apply to BDSP at all.
      Radar chaining in DPPt is mechanically nearly identical to XY but there are a lot of minor differences.

    Before watching this guide, a lot of other youtubers said that walking into a shaking patch with shiking grass next to it, will break your chain. Have i just missed you saying that, or is it a misconception?

    • @HP-id3nw
      @HP-id3nw  2 месяца назад

      I'm aware some other youtubers claim that but it is just superstition. I have never followed that "rule" and have not noticed such cases to break chains noticably more often than any other ideal patch.
