- Black Shiny Pokemon are the coolest ever made and in this video I'll only be using them to beat Pokemon X! As if the hours upon hours of shiny hunting weren't challenging enough, I decided to also make this a hardcore nuzlocke! What do you think the final team will be? Can we even beat this challenge? Why am I asking you these questions? Watch to find out!
Nuzlocke Rules:
1) Can only catch the first Black Shiny Pokemon on each route (species and dupes clauses in effect)
2) Fainted Pokemon are considered dead and must be released or permanently boxed
3) No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 member's ace (before the start of battle)
4) No items in battle (Held items are okay)
5) Battle mode must be on "Set"

Shiny Umbreon is the only acceptable answer. The blue rings and yellow eyes are the superior form.
Coincidentally, it's also my favourite pokèmon: Aegislash. And black shinies are the best, obviuously.

Funny thing: about a few months ago, I bought a copy of X to replay the game. I wanted to shiny hunt Froakie as a joke (because Greninja is my favorite shiny of all time). I’m not kidding you when I say that I found it in 4 soft resets after starting my adventure

11 and a half hours for a STARTER. Personally I would not be able to sit down and just reset for half of that time. That must have really put the pressure on. Love the content as always.

I'd have just got my starter and started hunting in the first patch of grads
I hunted for a shiny mudkip in OR/AS and honestly it's not that bad of a process if you are doing something else like watching RUclips or Netflix
11 hours is nothing. I hunted chimchar for 66 hours before quitting

Charizard is one of the few pokemon who have had their shiny changed. It was originally purple and green or something, but was changed to black and red. I kinda wanna call it Charizard favoritism, but some other pokemon have had their shiny form changed such as Arbok.

One thing on the honedge,modest isn't necessarily god awful,you can still make use of it via shadow ball and flash cannon

I loved this video man! Also, I recently figured this out, but when you're soft resetting for the kanto starters, if you come into the battle with sycamore with a full party, after you pick you're starter, he'll tell you to empty out your party and come back when there's room and it makes the resets like 30 seconds.
If only I'd known this before the run haha

An interesting shiny run you could do is the ‘is this shiny?’ where they don’t look any different from normal

It always amazes me that people can take so much time do do something like this. Me personally I can't, I can barely sit still for ten minutes. Shout out to you!
I know it’s not helpful now after the run has been finished, but shiny hunting the Kanto starters doesn’t require you to battle each time. Just have a party full of 6 Pokémon before receiving the starter. You will be asked to make room in your party and can save at that point meaning you only have a short conversation with the professor each reset. I managed to obtain a Bulbasaur in 2000~ SR’s this way.
Idk if it can learn this in gen 6 but when I used umbreon for my dark type nuzlocke in sword and shield I had it learn sand attack, charm, moonlight and confuse ray. If I had a tough battle coming up I would send her out, get the Pokémon to -6 accuracy and -6 attack then confuse it and switch out. Then I would just boost my sweeper and then take everyone out. It felt like cheating because the AI doesn’t switch and will still play through those impossible afflictions.
I love a good Umbreon support set
I think with a full team it doesn’t need any attacking moves.
That’s because Pokémon sword and shield are the easiest games mabee besides this one

Good run and great shinies! I adore when players say the amount of time and encounters it took to find a shiny, it's always very intresting. I'm now at 16 hours for a shiny venipede, wish me luck!
I think it’s difficult to understand the full gravity of how long it took to complete this. I suggest a reset counter over on the side near the level cap and deaths and maybe a hours allotted counter as well. I know this took ages but it’s a really good video so thank you!

my favourite shinies are heatmor, giratina, lurantis and hisuian zoroark! I just love the way their colours look. I love how different they are from their original colours too. black shinies are pretty cool, but sometimes the best shinies are the most vibrant

I am actually trying this out but with no type block. Currently on 10 hours of fennekin and hope to get it soon. This just gives me more motivation to keep on going!
Edit: it's been a month now and still no shiny, however I did decide to restart pokemon black 2 for a casual play through and found a full odds audino, so I see that as a sign of success to come! Hopefully...

black is my favourite colour and favourite colour for shiny pokemon. I thought of this before you but I gave up my hunt on froakie due to focusing on lunala in sword and celebi in crystal. But this inspired me to start again. Gen 6 has the some of the best shinies and great selection of black shinies as well

Out of all the amazing shiny pokemon in this game, I think my favorite is milotic. Something about the clean gold with the perfect shades of blue just satisfy my brain
Man I remember how good this game was. People always gripe on it for being a modern Pokemon game but those are the same people who believe the first 4 generations were the best generations while completely passing over Unova region which was also a banger region. Unova has some banger Pokemon just like the Kalos region.

Shiny gengar is my favorite, personally it’s a great shade of purple and thought it dosent change much it still looks great, plus it’s mega is fire

Umbreon is such a meme
High defenses, decent attacks, and most importantly - the moveset
Ability: Synchronize
Moveset: Payback, Moonlight, Refresh, Sleep Talk
Payback abuses its low speed for more damage, Moonlight is a free heal, Refresh + Synchronize is busted for obvious reasons, and Sleep Talk is good because Synchronize only doesn't work on Sleep so it gives you the extra coverage for that. You can also sub out Sleep Talk for Psychic so that Fighting type is useless!

King's rock gives every hit a chance to flinch
Notice the wording. Every HIT has a chance to flinch.

For people playing gen 6 on emulator:
- You can save state right before clicking "Yes" on selected starter
- Use 200% speed
- It's possible to run multiple emulators (in this case Citra), and using one controller on all of them. I usually had 8 (so 8/4096 instead)
- Eggs are decided when given. So DON'T save state before a hatch. It won't help
- If you have a good computer, attention span and plenty of monitors.. You can run more than 8. I usually run 8-16 though.
