- A Colorado substitute teacher is under fire after a student’s parents discovered she allegedly had inappropriate relations with their son. Crowley County authorities said Shelby Clarke, who is married with a child of her own, allegedly had sex with a high school Sophomore twice in a car that she borrowed from a friend. The 20-year-old is also accused of sending nude photos to multiple others. Law&Crime’s Elizabeth Millner breaks down the latest teacher who lost their job after shocking allegations surfaced.

Depends on the state. In mine you have to be a full teacher.
to be a sub you simply need a clean criminal record or in some places some college credits. source- i have my sub license.

Because she was only 2 years older than the student! She's 20 and he was like 17 or 18! By law there is a 4 year age gap depending on the state but she was his teacher which makes it inappropriate. A bit predatory if you ask me!

Social media and the inability for people to keep there traps shut about what they are doing means it gets exposed nowadays. None back in the day so you had you be caught in the act so if you were getting it on with a hot teacher you were carful to avoid that
Just reported more. I know of 3 or 4 instances in my town. Most of them went on to get married. They were all young teachers

This is like the 5th or 6th (possibly more) female teacher who has been reported by Law & Crime in the last couple weeks for SA'ing a male student. Whether alleged or convicted. Seems like a trend on the rise this year, no? Why are we even letting a 20-year old be there when shes not even legally old enough to drink?

I see a lot of comments about the fact that the age gap is too small. 16 and 20 may not be many years apart but when you think about it you are at two separate head spaces in life at 16 and at 20. She should be thinking about her baby and adult life and not be interested or attracted to the immaturity of a 16 year old. The age gap isn’t the problem, she is the problem she is attracted to something in a child whether it be physically or mentally. I think she would have done something like this even at an older age. So gross.

Sometimes there are summer program staff members such as camp counselors, program staff, or resident advisors that are within a one or two year age or grade class difference of the oldest students or campers in such summer programs (such as summer camps, college prep programs, or career prep programs). Both the superior & subordinate could be teenagers or high schoolers for example. The subordinate just finished 10th Grade & the superior just finished 11th Grade. Or the subordinate just finished 11th Grade & the superior just finished 12th Grade. Or the subordinate just graduated from high school & the superior just finished first year freshman year of college straight after graduating from high school. Sometimes the subordinate might be a little older than or be the same age as, but still have less power than a superior. Like a subordinate who is 18 or 19 that might be a similar age to a superior.

Lurid reporting gives the wrong impression. Look at the data. Kids are far more likely to be assaulted at home, in the presence of family friends, etc. Also, this sort of thing happens in private schools as well.
@@nah4215 Look at the numbers. Schools are much safer than, say, riding in cars. Most abuse to kids happens in homes (theirs or those of relatives/friends/etc.).
