  • A Massachusetts social worker faces multiple charges after allegedly forging her identity and enrolling in three different Boston-area high schools in two years. Thirty-two-year-old Shelby Hewitt stands accused of pretending to be a 13-year-old traumatized foster child and tricking three schools into approving her enrollment in classes - which she attended and even joined the women’s basketball team. The Law&Crime Network’s Jesse Weber discusses the bizarre case with forensic psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Bober.

Yeah I mean, if I went back to my teen years, I feel like I’d be just more into going to crazy house parties again. Then again, it wouldn’t be the same. Instead of going wild and getting obliterated, I’d probably be more like a babysitter and taking keys away from potential drunk drivers and making sure nobody had alcohol poisoning or god forbid, these days, had an overdose. Then I’d be giving ‘in my day’ talks which eventually would lead to the question, why are you here m’am? 😂

This is exactly it. I know this woman (not well, but I lived near her for several weeks), and it was clear that she had a severe fear of the unknown that came with adulthood. I thought she was a teen when I met her and was confused why I never saw her parents. I just always assumed that she was emancipated or maybe her parents weren't close. I never thought to ask. I know that here she looks her age, but when she dresses down, she looks much younger. Her mannerisms were also always very adolescent--like fidgeting, being shy/self-conscious, mood swings, typical teenage stuff. Needless to say, I had to do a double-take when I saw this video in my recommendations and realized she was older than me.
